If I may add, Gerry used 3 x 40 thou and 3 x 14 thou strings, Also, the Baritone sax made up the lower end, and depending on what song, sometimes played the flat 5th under. Also, gerry didnt use any reverb effect or pedals.
Nice work… I’ve literally been looking for confirmation of this tuning for over a decade! From about ten years old I saw GG a some pretty memorable shows including the Rainbow where are you can hear this sound to great effect in the live album. Saw The Glitter Band numerous times in their hay day and was interesting to watch when Gerry would pick up the star guitar and when he would go back to his Strat or his SG. Mike Leander really was ahead of his time as he also added trombone to the baritone sax that complimented the star guitar with a ton of compression to create a sound that still sounds massive to this day. He even looped his favourite section of the famous rock ‘n’ roll part one and two drum pattern so in terms of pioneering drumbeats was pretty ahead of the game too. Thanks again.
Lance Jordan: your'e a real Master !! It sounds so similar to the original !! Respect it's a very special and unique Sound !!! Thank's for uploading this little Masterpiece !!
Thanks Lance for this instrumental Lesson ,as a Sound Engineer ive always wondered about this guitar tone , ive tried it and it works !!with a bit of Sax in the track as well great work thank you .
always wondered about this one too (also an engineer but this came out before i was born. used to be played at the local ice rink when i was a kid (eek!))
another one i remember was hot chocolate sexy thing that fuzzy guitar sound because i think when i was a kid it was used in a famous movie lol. (in later years i loved the bongo track on that record too.) one of those awesome records that kinda came to be seen as a novelty but is actually great
I think there's something else in the effect chain giving it a unique sound. To me the guitar sound, sounds a little like a Kazoo, it's subtle but it's there. So I would love to know what they did to get that sound apart from the Ostrich tuning and using a slide.
Just found a video where people did a kazoo cover of Rock N Roll part 2! Looks like I'm not the only one to think it has a kazoo sound ruclips.net/video/kCi8ZuRTMhk/видео.html
I tried this on a Roland Guitar synth, tuning all strings to E … it was in the ballpark but never quite rights… thanks for this information ✌️😁 kindest regards
I can't believe I actually found this... been trying to figure it out forever! Thank you

Saw GG & Glitterband many times and that is spot on and a great sound
listen to that sustain and crunch, there's flattened sine waves involved but no buddy mentions that.....

Saw Glitter Band at Glasgow Apollo around 74 and saw Glitter at Ibrox 83 brilliant every time... Shame he is what he is.
Sometimes one must removed the man from the Art,and this is such a case.
Great sound. Very authentic What was the drum tuning you referred to?
The guitar sounds from GG and the Glitter Band is vrry difficult to recreate..but ..thus sounds very similar to the original !!@ Goid Job
Would it work using an Octave-down and doubler pedals along with a plate reverb?
Maybe it’s interesting
