  • We've posted this video for students learning Ying Jow Pai's "Jeet Kuen." Sifu Dario performs this beautiful, basic Eagle Claw form. Jeet Kuen appears in many martial arts systems, included as part of the Ching Mo (Jing Wu) curriculum. To perform this form, one should work towards going from beginning to end without losing energy, keeping the body light and movements fast. Visit us at www.northskykungfu.com.

Please add more empty hand forms
I totally love them they're beautiful
There is no eagle claws schools in my city so this is my only exposure to the art I hope that the forms could be shown in their entirety because when you're not you don't get to see the complete beautification of them

This is the Jeet Kune that I learned back in the early 80's, damn near step for step... I thought it was a Northern Shaolin form! I guess I've got one legit Eagle Claw handset in my library!
    Excellent performance!
Thanks for creating and sharing this video!
    MUCH RESPECT!!!

It is a northern style form. The first 2 forms taught in eagle claw are Shaolin, before learning eagle claw forms. You'll notice there are no claws in this form. Eagle Claw is a northern style, so this is foundational. Confusingly, there are a number of "Eagle Claw" forms in wushu and in movies where you stand on one leg with your claws way behind you up in the air like you have wings; these are not part of ying jow pai (the Eagle Claw style practiced at North Sky, and other students of Leung Shum).

Want to thank you for uploading these forms. Took Eagle Claw for four years when I was a kid; can hardly remember any of it. I'm excited to one of these days use your videos to refresh my memory. Thank you!

Any time! We have private videos of various forms, let us know if you want to see them. Eagle Claw is a great system, you can practice it for a lifetime. We're in NYC if you are ever in the neighborhood and want to try it again in person. Thanks!

Thank you! I might take you up on that in the near future! My former Sifu actually trained at a studio in New York...I wish I could remember the name of his master.

Leung Shum? He has been the one teaching in New York for many years. The school used to be on 27th (and before that, 24th, 14th, etc.) If it was Eagle Claw, it was probably him....

Great demo! Can anyone explain the origin of this form? Are there any sister styles that also utilize this form? I practice primarily tiger crane hung ga and this form is included, but I do not see many demos of this set online.

@Paul Schramm OP is correct-Jeet Kuen or Jie Quan is not strictly an Eagle Claw form, but a Northern Shaolin form from Hebei Cangzhou, taught by Zhao Zhi Lian and eventually incorporated by Zhao Lian He into the Chin Woo Athletic Association as one of the Chin Woo Ten Fundamental Routines. Since many early practitioners Eagle Claw trained at Chin Woo under the Chen Zi Zheng lineage, they also learned the Ten Fundamental Routines including Da Zhan Quan, Jie Quan, etc.
