This is from Shep's home-studio recording sessions when She & Pettibone were still working out the sequencing and harmonies. She's basically doing lots of ad-libs to see what's working and what isn't. NONE of these vocals ended up in the final mix, it was all re-recorded once she was ready to lay down the lead vocals. On the extended "12 inch" version of the Single she does all the harmonies on her own, Nikki & Donna were brought in subsequently and layed down the background vocals OVER Madonna's own before the final Mixing and Mastering. Well Madonna did not have the best voice but its actually pretty decent. She actually had a cute and very unique voice which complements her in that she was cute and gave a very unique performance. Everything about her just works from her looks, voice and style

Yes. She COULD sing back in the day. But from sticky and sweet her voice got ruined just because of the lack of proper and serious training. It seems it was more important for her to look “young “ and Appeal to younger audiences. She is ruined. Guess a new world tour won’t be happening anymore. A. Because she can’t sing anymore. She is a mess even with autotune/vocoder and she can’t move onstage like she used to. Plus she has run out of musical ideas and class.
I think she blew it out after Evita. And I still think she’s an awesome singer now but uses a lower pitch than she had when she was younger… & that happens. And I just read your comment and it’s entirety and have nothing more to add.

MDNA had decent vocals and she is still good at low notes, but yeah she used to be better when she sung moving around and all specially during the 80s
