    I drilled about same time as you. I went to 380 feet. Drilling to 380 with full PVC casing gravel packed was $18,000. But I hit 40 gallons a minute in a area that is usually 5 to 8. The pump is difficult to itemize because I went with a 3 hp high velocity surface pump to quickly fill a fire tender. Surface pump is 200 gallons a minute from a 3,000 gallon tank. And a year later a fire did come through and the well saved the house. I was told I hit the 3rd largest well in my area.

    I will say watch out for those low cost well drillers. I was quoted at 4500 - 4800 for my well. The final cost ended up being 7800. The driller had left off all of the labor cost to be cheaper than anyone in town. I was also told that I had 3gpm which for the area is about right only that also wasn't the truth. My recovery rate is only five gallons per hour for that well that he supposedly dug at 212. Go and do your research, ask the right questions, and get as many quotes as you can. If I would have know these things maybe I wouldn't have gone with the guy I did. We'll see later on if that well is indeed at 212'. I'm going to have another company come out and take a peak. Location mid Panhandle of Texas.

    What are the considerations when you know the area you're in might not have water and if they do hit a water vein, it will be brackish/briny water which you can't drink?

    • @CarrascoRanch
      @CarrascoRanch  4 года назад

      Definitely look at the terrain that will give you the best indication of water. Trees,soil, other vegetation. Different species of trees will tell you alot about what's underneath. If your not sure ask a local expert in your area they should know where the best chance of hitting water may be.
      In my case we hit water at 80 ft. And 160-180ft but the best water was in the 300ft range so that's what we dug down to.
      If your in oil field county or ag land like me definitely test the water for nitrates. I didn't worry about brackish water where I was drilling. But there are public records for just about every area that you can look at that will tell you the water quality, gpm, soil, depth, etc. Those are very helpful.
      Any licensed well driller may also have some helpful advice on locating water.
      Hope this helps and goodluck! 👍

      Well, they started bringing in equipment and setting up July27th. They worked everyday until Friday 31July. Came back Monday 3Aug and worked form
      8 am until 10:15 pm and left all the equipment here when they left. This is Sunday the 9th, haven't seen hide or hair of them and hopefully they finish the well this week. They have 33 sticks of 20ft drill pipe plus the one on drive pipe on the Derrick. So they went down 680'. We have 20 ft of sugar sand as a top layer so they had to first insert a 20' section of 10" or 12" pvc to keep the sand from caving into the hole. Then the real drilling begin. They said hit water at shallower depths but it was not desirable water so they went down to the Carrizzo/ Wilcox Aquifer. They hit layers of clay sand and shell. They said the shell gives them problems plugging up the drilling fluid circulation. They inserted a 4" pvc casing down into the well, when they were done drilling.

    • @CarrascoRanch
      @CarrascoRanch  4 года назад +1

      I actually did... but the well drillers told me that solar wears out the pumps much faster than regular power. Which I'm not to sure how accurate that is or not. I was going to look into it further see what I can find. You have any experience using solar for a well pump or know anyone who agrees with what they told me?

    • @morphd35
      @morphd35 Год назад

      @@CarrascoRanch I have been doing a lot of solar research. I am not an expert and have not attempted what you are doing for a solar solution. However, it would seem to me if you have an array of panels that cover the electrical requirements of the pump, and connect up to an inverter that will convert the dc to ac power, all you need is a power plug for the 30 amp application. I think there is a way to run this in that manner. Issue is you need the ability to make more energy and store that in a battery bank solution to be able to run water when the sun is not providing enough flow. Lots of videos out there about it. Some of my favorites are FarmCraft101, ProjectsWithEveryDayDave, and engineer775. Cheers.
