These last few chapters I have struggled to get through but still moving forward and praying for understanding, still dedicated to reading and learning and loving my Lord.
I appreciate Tara Leigh's distinction between Christianity not being exclusive but specific. The bible gives specific instruction. All humans have the option of believing or not. The gate is open. Everyone is welcome, but there is a wall between Christians and non christians; between people who choose to believe and want to learn more and the people who reject God and His word. God loves his creation, us! But there is only one way to Him and we have to choose God. We have to choose to believe and to follow him. GOD provides all mankind with the Bible, a historybook and a guide to Him. He leaves the choice up to us. We have free will.
While admittedly a difficult read, my God shot was in the order and precision in these chapters. God has a plan and an order. He leaves nothing to chance, especially His kids! Praise God!
When someone describes what Heaven is like, no one says, “Stop! All that detail is so boring!” We know that “Better is one day in your courts than thousands elsewhere” because we know that Heaven is our home, and as CS Lewis imagines in “The Great Divorce,” and many have reported (as in Piper’s “90 Minutes in Heaven” and Dr. Morse’s “Closer to the Light”), but more importantly, what Ezekiel and John show us in their Heavenly visions, Heaven is where we know we’ve always belonged! No doubt, the Israelites who heard these details, knowing that the Temple was destroyed 14 yrs earlier, said “Tell me more! Exactly where is that gate, how thick those walls?” And why? Because we are by nature worshipers. When we worship, we are at home and experience complete fulfillment. Imagine the roaring rush of cherub wings, the chorus of thousands of thousands all singing separate but unified harmonies, the overwhelming sense of peace and purpose and light and life that emanate from the Throne and through every worshiper-who would want this to end? We’d then say to Ezekiel, “Tell me more!”
Day 252 Ezekiel 40-42 Heads up, Ezekiel chapters 40-48 are some of the most hard to interpret in the whole Bible. Ezekiel’s temple vision. God is giving this vision to Ezekiel in 573 BC when his people are in exile in a foreign land. For God to go on for 9 chapters to describe this future temple is so that they have hope. The previous temple that Solomon had built was destroyed. The people were living in a foreign land with their enemies. God wanted them to know without question that He had a plan for restoration. They were not forgotten. God was with them. Ezekiel has this vision on the day of Passover. That is the day that the people remember their freedom from Egyptian slavery. It also corresponds with our celebration of Easter. Jesus had gone to Jerusalem to celebrate Passover when He was crucified. Ezekiel is given a heavenly tour guide through this vision. Bronze man comes with measuring equipment. He gives Ezekiel a walkthrough with measurements. He even sees the cherubim carved out. The temple layout is massive in size. The temple court is even bigger than the temple mount. Ezekiel describes a huge outer wall and its gates. This will also include the gate that Jesus will come through when He returns. It is only 10 ft tall so it’s not to keep others out. The purpose of this wall is to be a line between the holy and the common. The gospel of Christ is not exclusive. It is specific. It gives the truth. All who believe the truth ( Jesus ) are invited into ever lasting life. Jesus is the only way to the Father. In John 14:6 Jesus said no one comes to the Father except through Me. The walls are not to keep people out. It is to make a line of demarcation. There is a gate in the wall where all who want to come in may enter. Jesus rejects no one. No one is too bad or has sinned too much. Jesus is so inclusive. It is His will live that all would follow Him and have eternal life. He even gives us new hearts when we ask. This is our God!!
Aloha, paise the Lord, good afternoon BR family. Daily reading of God's words through the BR plan has really had a positive impact my life. God is enough strength for strength faith in him, celebrating the good and bad days, honoring God when we are suffering, and following the will of God all the days of my life. It not my will but his will. He is where the JOY is!!
“So he measured the area on all four sides. It had a wall around it, five hundred cubits long and five hundred cubits wide, to separate the holy from the common.” Ezekiel 42:20 NIV First of all, I love the quote that Christianity is specific, not exclusive. Secondly, what stuck out to me in this verse is that we don’t have to step into a physical place anymore to go from the common to the holy. God has come to us and made us into a temple for His Spirit. Sometimes I forget the marvel of that: that we have access to God anytime, that He lives in us, because we are His kids. Thank You God for Your blessings and Your kindness. Please remind us to act separate from the common in a way that is specific and not exclusive. Help us be good temples, and remind us to have our gates open. I ask this in Jesus name, amen.
573 bc… if Ez 40:1 is actually Tishrei 10th (the beginning of the year, Rosh Hashanah) it’s a Jubilee year! Jubilee years are the only year where the beginning of the year starts on the 10th. Count 50 from this date we get 28 ad and also 2028. Big things coming!
I usually approach Ezekiel with dread right off from chapter 1 with his confusing visions and strange sign acts. But this year was quite different with the Bible Project vids and TLC’s recaps and, by God’s grace, a stronger determination to enjoy it - there were even times I got really into it and sections where I welled up at the beauty of God’s holiness and His faithfulness! But my resolve failed when I hit Chapter 40 as I found myself stuck in the details of cubits, feet and detailed dimensions. As hard as I tried - no matter what Bible version I used, I was unable to retain these details as I tried to visualise Ezekiel’s words. That is, until I found this brilliant video which has made a big difference: ruclips.net/video/YNmERZkT6JM/видео.htmlsi=1WtOyE1l4bIMjydE (there are follow ups for the other chapters (40-43): ruclips.net/video/X43lTbFRigk/видео.htmlsi=oBMj3_nhRAJKDklm). Hope this helps!
Admittedly, these pages were a chore to get through. Unbelievably, repetitive detail. I prayed to get through. In the end I got an insight. What would a computer generated rendition look like? So I received my answer and reward and the realization how fortunate we are to have these details! ruclips.net/video/YNmERZkT6JM/видео.htmlsi=X1DnlxxiqcU4Z2BH

Glad it’s not just me! I’m so glad we have this recap to help us understand its importance.
@@laurahamilton4570 me too 😇🙏😇 I keep praying and reading

I can't wait to be with Jesus forever.. I love Him so much.
There is NO greater love.

Ezekiel was given a vision of the new temple to tell the people everything He saw (Ezek 40:4). This was hope of restoration. God gives hope.

YES! TELL ME MORE!!
The Gospel is for everyone. Come inside, I love it 🙌🏽 he is where the joy is.
It’s not exclusive, it’s specific!!!! Yes. Love that.
Yes!

You're so right...these chapters are hard to get through.
Thank you, great stuff!
Wow, yes. Come to me. The gate is open.

As a visual learner, this really helped me to visualize it! Thank you so much for sharing!
I knew all that talk about gates was symbolic. It reminded me of John 10.
This is not the current read, today is Sept 24,23 Day 267 And this “page” is meant for Day 252
She added Day 267 and 268. She also added this as well
❤❤❤❤❤
I’ve tried to print the temple twice and it doesn’t come out. Part of it does but part of it doesn’t.
I have Ezra today?
Is this episode re-uploaded?
Admittedly, these pages were a chore to get through. Unbelievably, repetitive detail.
I prayed to get through. In the end I got an insight.
