    Looks like there is a clear winner on the soil mix. 😉 Wow, those Ariocarpus really grow slow.

      Once I tried growing Ariocarpus from seed I really understood the adult plant price point. At this rate and given the fact that the majority of my Ario seedlings have died, I'd have to charge a fortune to make the sale even worthwhile 😂😁

    So sad it’s almost going to be the season finale😢. My seedlings are a month old and they haven’t died. Super excited to see them develop!

    I'm really liking unigro cactus mix results! I wonder if you add earthworm castings with the unigro + bonsai mix would it increase the astrophytum seedling size. I really enjoy this playlist! Definitely learning a lot! Thank you so much for doing this!

      Unigro seems to be a very well-rounded cactus soil, no wonder I hear many cactus growers using it. The best part is that it's doing so well for growing cactus from seed straight out of the bag. That's a good question on whether worm castings can help. Considering that castings is one of the amendments that came with the Mike's rare plant soil and the fact the Astros are exploding after adding it, it may be a magic ingredient that helps speed up growth even more. One of us needs to try it 😁

    I’m itching to repot those big ones 😆. I’m thinking what if they grow slower now because they have run out of room?
    It would be cool to see you pick the contest winner out of the bag. You probably won’t have time to film that but it would be cool to see it. I’m excited to see who wins.

      I'm itching to repot the big ones too! Some of the Astros are being squooshed into oblivion.... And I can only imagine that the lack of space will affect growth rate.... next time I know they need more space if I'm to do something like this again. They have to hold out for just a few more months... Wait until you find out what I'm planning to give away next time!

    So sad that it’s almost the season finale 😢. My astrophytum seedlings are a month old and they haven’t died on me yet 😂. Hopefully they will make it. I can’t wait to see them grow bigger.

      Congratulations on your month old Astrophytum! They are so fun to grow from seed. I can't believe that we're only 3 episodes away from the finale. This is my second growing series, which means that almost 2 have passed.... What the heck??

    I'm still trying to get anything to grow from seed to a stage when they became recognizeble as cacti so it's fascinating to see how many of yours are alive. You talked a while back about statistics, one can't expect anything without sowing a lot of seeds I think that is my problem

      You gotta try again! And you gotta try different genus. I swear each individual has a genus that does particularly well with them. I've failed so many times with Ariocarpus, i think this is my fourth or fifth time that I'm trying and I'm finally getting some decent results (well, at least for now, they might still die later...)

      Do you mean do I know what's in the ECC mix? He lists his ingredients but I don't remember off the top of my head. In episode 1 believe I showed a screenshot of the ingredients but I don't remember the time stamp. I think I show it when I go over his soil mix.

    I am using acadama heavy bonsai mix for cactus seedlings with some osmocote slow release as an experiment and it's been going well! ur astrophytums are looking so pretty I want to grow some soon :)

      Osmocote is something I'd love to try for growing cactus from seed. I've heard other folks use it too. Do you just mix it into your soil?

    • @SUPERSUDS
      @SUPERSUDS 16 дней назад

      @@cookiescacti yes I also mixed in a little bit of copper fungicide :)

    Fantastic video. Thanks for the informative content. I'm curious if the pH levels vary significantly across these different soil mixes.

      I'm so glad you enjoy seeing these updates! That's a good question on pH. Wish there was someone I could borrow a soil pH meter from
