Yes, it's a dated ship, and the decor is old, and there are few poolside activities, but I have really enjoyed the Carnival Conquest in the past and I am sailing again with them soon. The end of the video keeps referring to the Carnival Vista - the presenter confused himself with a previous comparison. Guy's burger joint is not an extra cost option. It is included. The taco/fajita restaurant on lido deck was amazing, and though Carnival has the same main dining menu as it did 20 years ago, it is still excellent. Carnival Conquest is an excellent choice for people who are looking for a relaxing vacation to interesting destinations and do not get hung up on the decor of the ship.
Checking back now that I am back from my cruise. I had no problems with the conquest. Good times. Might not be the best option for those with older/active kids, as it has only one waterslide and the sports area doesn't have as much as newer ships, but other than that it's a fine ship. The staff is friendly, dining room experience in monet was fine. Aft pools and hot tubs are still adults only, and serenity area was great as well. Would totally sail this ship again.
I am booked on Conquest this December. Will be my 2nd on this ship and 6th overall on Carnival. Last cruise was in balcony cabin on Lido deck and it was spacious enough. This time will be in Premium Vista balcony (wrap around balcony on stern of ship). Have never had a bad cruise on Carnival and the crews on all have always gone above board to please the passengers. Will have more to say after December cruise
i usually just go on cruises to relax , the decor of the ship is not a priority to me, as long as i can relax i am okay i selected this ship for my next cruise because of the ports, i am doing a b2b first carnival vista for the second time and then doing this ship, because the ports are half moon cay, grand turk, and amber cove. 2 beach ports, and nassau this will be a very relaxing cruise for me . keep the videos coming, love your information, i am a veteran cruiser 30 plus under my belt
linda jackson we did that exact cruise in March 2017. We quite enjoyed it. There were a lot of offshore activities to take part in if you wanted. The only bad one we heard of was in the Bahamas at Atlantis hotel. It wasn't what was expected.
Just went on the conquest june 2018 with my teen daughter and another mom daughter It was a very reasonable price for a girls trip with 2 teens and we had a blast. It is nothing fabulous but certainly a good time and great staff. If you want extras pay for upgrades they are available. We enjoyed it. Very clean ship wonderful staff and most importantly our girls had a great time. I would not go on this ship without teens or kids or being young and wanting to party. It’s a fun ship nothing fancy forsure but great price very affordable! I will cruise carnival again with my kids they love it.
Just sailed on Conquest in January. We tend to hang in our cabin quite a bit, and we splurged on a balcony. SO worth it! I didn't care for the buffet. It was awkward, with the two sides having slightly different items. Also, there was a staff member guarding the dessert area, so I had to wait to be served and couldn't try a little of everything. The entertainment was top-notch, though, so I forgave the buffet. Almost.
Hi Don, thanks for the info. The Grand Princess is older than this ship, what are your thoughts on that one, if you have time for another video. Thanks!
It was the Conquest you were talking about & yet at the end you called it the Vista. As for that we sailed on this ship in 2017 & it was alright. The food in the buffet was fine if you wanted a better supper, you should've eaten in the dining rooms at night.
Hey Don. You are looking healthier than ever. Just saying that because I think you had mentioned in a video that were dealing with an illness. Keep it up, brother. We are with you. And thanks for the great cruise videos.
To be totally honest, the only two up to date Conquest-Class Ships now with all the bells and whistles after dry dock are Carnival Glory and Carnival Freedom!
Hi Don, I LOOOOVE your videos! As a first time cruiser, I have learned SO much watching them. My biggest regret is that I didn't find you BEFORE I booked my first sail :) But, better late than never! I'll definitely be giving you a call to book the second one, if we fall in love with it! Quick question; Do you have an opinion on the Valor? I didn't see a video. Thanks again for all the wonderful advice and help getting ready for our maiden voyage! God Bless
thank you Val, Most people rate the Valor as very good. the biggest complaints seem to come from Embarkation as it always seem unorganized. the ship is clean and looked after and the staff is quite good. I find this ship sometimes has a problem dealing with guests with mobility issues like a scooter or wheelchair. It's not a huge ship so pool area can get crowded on sea days. Over all a nice ship to start out on cruising and get you feet wet if you will :)
well don, i fell into a cruise septic tank and came out wearing diamonds and smelling like a rose. i booked a cruise on conquest because of my main cruise requirement...price. to my delight an upgrades inside cabin for 7 days...$438/pp but wait! thats not the best part. i got $500/cabin on board spending cash!!. so,my math isnt the best but i believe that makes a 7 day cruise about$210 or so!!! now im used to carnival buffet food. its rarely good. the salad bar is great! breakfast delish! and God bless the 24 hour pizza and ceasar salad!! but now i can go to the steakhouse twice. i can eat seafood until my iodine level is off the chart!! and STILL have some cash for the casino!! im lucky even before i go to the casino!!🤣
Hi there Don. I know this is an old video. But have you ever sailed on the Conquest? Your info seems to be 2nd hand from different websites you have researched. Just curious. I was on it last year. I have posted what I don’t like. Will soon likely post what I did like too. I believe the ship does have 2 water slides now. I don’t go on them so never really paid much attention. Thanks for the summary though
I’m going this December. It was a group thing via a friend using her RCI . These vids help out a lot. I’ll utilize them all for future. Excited about the destinations, not so thrilled about the ship. Price was super cheap but the age explains it.
Went on the Conquest in September in 2016. My teen sister loved it but spent most of her time with the youth programs. Didn't try the slide but they made up for it with activities. Food was ok but the blue iguana and guys was worth it
Braedon Hardesty my husband and i went on liberty this past may. It does have propulsion issues which is why it was moved to canaveral for short trip to bahamas. We could feel some vibrations more than usual. Only complaint was there was a sewer smell on midship level 2. We stayed in the back on 2 and just took the back elevators and never had to walk throufh that area. We had a great time and would book again. Going on the vista next week and will know what size ship we like best. Liberty is the same as conquest fyi just different decor.
I picked this ship because of it Old French artist theme. Of corse it would look older. And it should. I always look at different ship tours and find this ship one of the prettiest. But I’m also interested in the Vista next!
It look like the Conquest was refurbished Sep 30 to Oct 13 of 2017 which would be after Don's review but how much true refurbishing can be done in two weeks?
We are going in June. the 5 day cruise has 3 ports of call so we wont have to much time on board. Maybe that's how they solved the issue with a lack of on board things
You mentioned the Conquest was last refurbished on 2012 but based on what I read online it looks like the Conquest was last refurbished on Sept.-Oct 2017?
The food on Lido deck and in dining room was very underseasoned. Also anything that was supposed to be sweet had barely any sugar in it. The shows were not good and very low energy. Also the ship's internet pkg is GARBAGE. You can barely connect. Will not be going on this particular ship again.😕
Your loss we went in 017 and leave next month treating our son can hardly wait! Loved it and the staff was awesome and personable and couldn't do enough to make you happy.

AR Canada I agree 100%. Have been on 4 different Carnival ships and have never had a bad time. It is the only cruise line I will use
AR Canada, we Canadians must think alike. We sailed on the Conquest in March of 2017. We quite enjoyed it.
Bob Kubik it’s the only one I’ve sailed on, too. I have few complaints.
Took this ship on my first cruise this summer. There were 6 of us (3 rooms). Loved every minute of it
glad you liked the ship :)
Checking back now that I am back from my cruise. I had no problems with the conquest. Good times.

when do you sail?
Scott-Scarlett Stapleton 12/2

Kari Davis do they play the movies on the screen often? I’m going on this ship in a week and pretty excited

We went on the Conquest in 2017 and we are going again next month with our 24 yr old son. It was so much FUN!
Careful there Don dont stand so close to the railing at the back of the ship..we dont want to lose you
Very helpful Don, thank you! Appreciate your honest opinion and not sucking up to the cruise lines!
thank you very much
My wife and I just went on the conquest "summer 2018" we had a blast !!!
Us too!!!!! leavi
next month AGAIN!!!!
Oh well, I am going on this ship, I guess it just has to basics I need, Like a waterslide, and a pool and a Juzzi and a buffet, that's all I need.
My husband and I went on Conquest in 2017, and going back with our adult son next month. You will love it don't worry.
Guys Burger Joint was beyond awesome...
Agree
Hi Don, thanks for the info. The Grand Princess is older than this ship, what are your thoughts on that one, if you have time for another video. Thanks!
I like the old look ..makes me want to have a scotch and a cigar lol
kidding of course .i like the modern up to date crazy fun ships

That’s what I’m doing do you remember the price’s for the arcade
Hey Don. You are looking healthier than ever. Just saying that because I think you had mentioned in a video that were dealing with an illness. Keep it up, brother. We are with you. And thanks for the great cruise videos.
thanks Mark. feeling better every day. I find out on the 27th when my next surgery is and then hopefully that's the last one :)
I hope so too. Best wishes
Love the older ships will be on the conquest in May for my 25th wedding Anniversary
I will be on the conquest in may also
this is a good ship if your just looking for a cheap cruise
this is true
I like the brighter more modern colors too.

What's your post-cruise review? We sail 3rd week in March.
Went on the Conquest in September in 2016. My teen sister loved it but spent most of her time with the youth programs. Didn't try the slide but they made up for it with activities. Food was ok but the blue iguana and guys was worth it
Dry dock is soon
Thank you for your informative videos. Is there a chance you could do a similar one on the Oosterdam?
I'll see what I can do :)
I thought the ship looked run down last year
it does need an update
Isn’t it getting dry docked
Conquest just came out of dry dock recently.
Can you make a video about the carnival liberty. I would like to know more about it
I will add it to the list :)
Braedon Hardesty my husband and i went on liberty this past may. It does have propulsion issues which is why it was moved to canaveral for short trip to bahamas. We could feel some vibrations more than usual. Only complaint was there was a sewer smell on midship level 2. Braedon Hardesty it's AMAZING in fact it's the first cruise I went on and I'm going on the conquest witch is my 20th cruise
Sailing on her in December 2018! Can’t wait!
next month our 2nd Conquest!!!
the cabins do seem large but the pool area looks tiny
you have to choose lol
It is tiny
I picked this ship because of it Old French artist theme. Of corse it would look older. And it should. I always look at different ship tours and find this ship one of the prettiest. But I’m also interested in the Vista next!
I Have my trip booked for Labor day week!
nice honest review. good and bad things thank you
thank you
Would you be willing to review Royal Caribbean's Freedom Class ships? Specifically the Independence of the Seas? If Thanks and great review.
let me work on it :)
one water slide. that would be rough if there were a lot of kids on the cruise
it can be
It look like the Conquest was refurbished Sep 30 to Oct 13 of 2017 which would be after Don's review but how much true refurbishing can be done in two weeks?
I think this will be a decent option for my first ever cruise.
KillerNut2 yes, it would
Don what was your very first ship ?
my first ever cruise was in 1986 on the good ship Magellan . nothing like the ships of today
Fine review. Balanced and honest.
thank you I try
How do you know it's getting refurbed in 2018? I searched online and all I could find was the refurb that was done on 2017.
Thanks for this review. I hate carnival, but I’m considering a great deal for this ship
We are going in June. the 5 day cruise has 3 ports of call so we wont have to much time on board. Maybe that's how they solved the issue with a lack of on board things
We loved it going again next month!
as long as there's a casino
There is was just on there in September stuck on the ocean cuz of irma
I'd like to see some more quick ship break downs
I'm working on it
Thanks for the information Don. I'll be cruising Conquest soon
We're on our 2nd Conquest and taking our adult son. Can't wait to go in Feb 2019 next month!
I just came off yesterday off the carnival cruise ship deck 7
You mentioned the Conquest was last refurbished on 2012 but based on what I read online it looks like the Conquest was last refurbished on Sept.-Oct 2017?
The video was made before the refurbishment and still has nothing. To do the kids
How about jacuzzis?
don't think this ship is for me :(
Have you sailed on the Carnival Triumph? It’s very relaxing on there!
Went on this ship in 2008 and again in 2018. Nothing much changed really other than the food shacks.
the deck we were on caught t on fire while we were sailing. So not i wont sail on that ship anymore
I have been on the liberty and valor but those are the only ships closest to the conquest
Gee's burger joint?!? Really?!? Lol
Can you review carnival freedom
I will add it to the list :)
Don's Family Vacations Thx I'm counting down to thanksgiving for my cruise and your tips and other tricks are really helpful
Still not sure...
Good and bad of the radiance of the seas
