I have sailed Carnival around 15 times. One good tip is if you are going to play slots in the casino. Always put you sail and sign card into the slot machine. Because as you play you get points, they add up. If you should get to 2500 points you can get a free dinner in the steak house. You generate points on any games you play in the casino. But you generate the most points playing slots. Talk to the Casino host and ask about joining the casino club. You can get good deals on up coming cruises. Also the first thing any cruiser should do as soon as you board the ship is. GO TO YOUR MUSTER STATION AND WATCH THE DRILL. The ship can't sail until everyone does. So please don't go eat first. Muster first.
Had our first cruise last June, then Disney World after. We completely underestimated how much walking we would do on the cruise! I believe we walked more than we did at Disney.

Just need to buy the bucket and take them back to your room and put them in the fridge

My very best tip was given to me just after the restart 2021. The day of your trip, get up a bit earlier and take your luggage to the port. Drop it off and get all of that going to the ship before you come back to check in. In most cases, it will be waiting outside your cabin when you get there. And you did not have to carry it.
Newer Carnival ships have more access to water. Bring your favorite insulated cup! My friend and I would just refill when we were about to head to our cabin for the night. These insulated cups also came in handy on hot days laying in the sun or getting off the ship.
It is the on ship paper that lets you know what in going on hourly the next day. If it is the same way as it has been on years of cruising, is it will have a tear off that you can highlight, fold up and put in your back pocket. I hope you enjoy your cruise.

Once on board After you take care of your safety briefing and unpack Roam the ship. You never know what you might find like Gatsby’s garden on the Miracle
If you want to max out your drinks, look for the 16oz or 19.2oz IPAs. They are stronger and you get more than a regular 12oz but it still only counts as 1 drink on your drink package.
Faster to the fun was the best thing I ever did! Even my roommate that didn't think that it was necessary was very grateful after the first time we used it. We had an issue, sadly, with our drink card that we had purchased. They put them both in her name rather than one in each of our names so it made it easier to just go to the faster to the fun customer service desk. Also, if we needed to get off the boat faster on a tender that worked great too. Just depends on what you want and what you want to save on. For me I will be getting faster to the fun package each time if I can. This does sell out fast so you have to keep an eye on it.
Before you go look for a video tour on you tube and familiarize yourself with ship you are going on, especially the larger ones. If you are going on Mardi Gras or Celebration, the Serenity area is amazing! Also if you do your time dining you can eat at Cucina del Capitano or Chibang. I’ve sailed on a lot of the fantasy class ships that have been sold off. Of the remaining, I like the Glory and Miracle but the Horizon, Vista and Mardi Gras are my favorite. A lot of people don’t realize that you can eat breakfast in the main dining room instead of the buffet. Bring a multi plug so you can plug in more than one thing at a time if you are on one of the older ships. On the Horizon, Mardi Gras etc. they now have USB ports at the desk and by the bed. I’ll be on the Carnival spirit to Alaska in May. 😊
If you get frustrated with crowds on embarkation day, just wait for the late time slot. Getting on board is so easy and seemless and you don't have to deal with the rush of everyone trying to get on board early. My family of four have found we love just simply waiting a little to get on board.
Always have the card inserted in the slots so they track your play and might send promotions or give other perks. At least that is how they were on land in the casinos I have been to
Here’s a tip, bring your own lanyard to hold your ship card (if you don’t mind having it around your neck.. We had a family come up to us on our last Carnival cruise & ask about it & they were bummed out (didn’t want to keep pulling it out of pockets) 😁
I had a retractable badge holder from Dollar tree and it worked just fine! However, I do feel carnival needs to upgrade where they can just put it up to the door and it opens rather than having to continue to pull it out or put it back in that gets old.
Just went on my first cruise with my parents and they’ve been on 13! They ordered bottled water for the room. That was such a great thing to have! Room service for breakfast was free (certain foods) so it saved us time to order and not have to get ready and go up to the buffet. We would always leave cash tip for our person coming in and cleaning everyday. Also tipped room service when they came up. Everyone was so friendly
I am amazed they let you bring your own soda onboard! My mate bought us the mini-cans of Coke for $4 prior to embarking. Fits well in the room frig. re: Havana area (in the aft or rear of the ship, deck five I think it was). Make sure your cabin isn't butt up against the walls of the Havana club or you'll be hearing the band through the wall all night! I suffered through the first night cause we didn't know this, but in the morning demanded to be moved away from that area. I would avoid the decks directly above or below it. I was recently on the Vista and on deck one which was far enough away.
Booked on Celebration in December 2023 with overseas families, this being the first cruise for some. I have sailed Carnival before, Fascination and Dream. I’m looking forward to this newest class of ships and all they offer. I actually love Carnival. Perhaps because they were my first cruising experience, and It was good one🤷🏽♀️. We have sailed carnival, and discovered a couple things, the Italian restaurant that charges for dinner had a free lunch the last time we cruised. In Progresso, if you are wanting to buy liquor by the bottle you can photograph it and if the store on he ship has it the will sell it at the lower price from the vendor.
We sail Carnival often. Love it! My wife and I incorporate the Cheers Package in special pricing. That way, it makes sense to us. Sailed Mardi Gras November 2022. Awesome.
Spend the extra for the drink package. It’s $60 a day, but you get 15 alcoholic and unlimited non-alcoholic drinks (including specialty coffees and teas) a day on it. At an average of $8-$10 per beer or mixed drink, it’s easy to justify the cost. Shop around for offsite parking. Each port area is different as for prices and reviews (after reading the reviews in Miami, we felt better shelling out port prices for parking). Out of Canaveral we always use Park Port Canaveral. You drop your checked baggage at the curb and that’s the last time you touch it until it gets delivered to your room. The buses are clean and the staff is very friendly. It’s around $10 a day, but compared to $17 ish at the Port, it’s a no brainer. We’re heading out on the Mardi Gras on June 24. First time on that ship. We’ll see if the Breeze is still my favorite ship after this.
Sailed Spirit in Feb, very beautiful ship, small compared to the others, still she's a ship and your odd/even tip is 👍🏽. I go a step further and I got lucky this last one!! Coming off elevator look at a wall or door, chances are someone will have door decor and the wall usually has people, proceed accordingly!! I agree on Faster to Fun, I arrived 15m early and boarded 15m early. Disembarking was just as smooth...save the money for other!!
Research any new ports you've not been to. Find stuff to do so you don't miss out. You don't have to book excursions through the cruise line. It's usually cheaper and a better experience to book with locals anyways.
I will always book through cruise line. Last year in Belize our excursion was so late a tender had to be held for us. If we booked through anyone else we would be SOL.
On european cruise ships, it is quite common that the cruise cabins are odd numbered on the one and even numbered on the other side. I'm a little surprised that in the USA this seems to be rare. Carnival owns a few european cruise lines as well (e.g. COSTA Grociere and AIDA). Maybe they want to have it consistent on every ship?
I love the pre-ordered water, but since we often order drink package we just request a bottle of water every time we order a drink! It doesn't count in your drink total and they are very willing to do it while they are handling your drink order anyway.
If you prepay spa packages in advance, be aware that even though you have prepaid, your sail and sign account will incur the same charge of whatever massage or package that you purchased on the day you receive the service!!!! This will reduce the balance on your sail and sign account for that day!! It is released the next day, but this can impact your available balance for spending around the ship, on the day you get your treatment!!
i have been a strictly only disney cruiser but wanting to sail on different ships now my husband and i are in our mid 50s and our daughter is 20 we are non drinkers but love pop loved your video in your opinion what would the best cruise ship be ?
I am going on Mardi Gras in April. It is not my first cruise but will be my first cruise on Carnival. I do not like their older ships at all but I think the XL class ships look great. Excited that there are so many options for included food. We will be trying the steakhouse as we do that on every cruise. Interesting that they have the beer machines, may have to look into that lol.
We sailed in January on Mardi Gras. We had a great time, but it was by far the most packed cruise ship we have ever been on. All the pools are always packed. Resturants you have to plan ahead because of wait times. It doesn't help that there is a staff shortage, but them packing 6k passengers doesn't help. You'll still have a great time. Enjoy!
We learned to book a full year or more out for the best prices.. The past few months Carnival hasn't had any good offers to make me book anything in 2024 yet... Come on Carnival take my money damnit lol
Right now I am finding better deals closer to the sailings. I have done three sailings since the restart and not paid more than $500 per person for an inside cabin for a 7 day cruise.
I don’t drink and I don’t get the bubbles package either, I’m more than happy just drinking the free all you can drink iced tea, lemonade and water dispensed into my tumbler. :)
Texas cruisers out of Galveston beware: the drink package does NOT kick in when you board the ship in Texas! It doesn't kick in until 6AM the following morning!

If you're leaving out if NYC, Galveston or Norfolk, the drink package is void until day 2 of the cruise. Also, drink packages aren't honored on Half Moon Cay or Princess Cay, both are Carnival's private islands. That really affects the daily value.
I wonder what made them decide to go up on the waters so much? In 2022 the 12-pack was $4.95. I know prices have increased in general with everything on the ship, but the water really shocked me the most.
Strongly agree! I am on the fence on whether I order the pack that goes to the room or shall I just bring my tumbler and get the water from the fountain.
They are still passing out the daily happenings and goings on. I don’t know what he was thinking and also they have a paper menu at the MDR. So if you leave your phone in your room don’t stress.
Once on the ship, turn on Airplane mode. You will still have access to the Carnival Hub (make sure its already downloaded on your phone prior to sailing) It’s pretty useless prior to sailing, but it does a lot once we're on our way. I don't know how it works, it just does. Lol
I’m cruising tomorrow on Celebration! (Last cruise 1996 on original Celebration). Uber is $80+ to the ship from the airport. Any other suggestions? We’d like to stop for wine and soda on the way too.
The pour your own keg stands still are connected to kegs and co2 canisters that need to be refilled. It’s very annoying to have those cruise employees change those
The phone app is set up for use with wifi, and the ship has its own internal wifi network that allows the app to communicate with the ship..... If you have not paid for proper internet, then the system will block you from any functionality beyond the Carnival app talking to the ship. At least its free.
I just got off the nudy cruise ship pride it is a old old ship food is not the same anymore cabin are out dated they were always panting the window were dirty. The cabin Stewart was great and the waiter are great food from 1 to 10 1 being bad it was a 4 to a 5 at best I will have a hard time going with them again. 🤬
You said you need to bring your phone I brought my phone was hooked in the carnival The only place I could register and check in to eat was right outside the dining room I had just got back from carnival a trip from hell I got nothing that I was promised I had to bubbly package which meant I had my drinks were all paid for not booze but soda water and all that but I went to get a tomato juice and they tried to charge me $8.95 for a tomato juice really watch what you're doing on the ship they'll try to get you any which way they can I'm in the process of writing a complaint letter to Christine Donahue the president of carnival because of the way I was treated I have a gold status on carnival I have a little over 30 days of sailing time I'm also a stockholder and I got treated so badly I'm considering to go cruising with another company now and I've only been with carnival because they always treated me well
I have never had an issue checking in to eat on the app regardless of where I was on the ship. Once I had to go customer service and they helped me set it up because my VPN was blocking the app

I'm with you on the faster to the fun did it ones on our first cruise. Second cruise no and we got to know a family at the hotel that had faster to the fun, on boarding day we walk into the muster station right after boarding, they got on 5 min earlier then we did. Plus, I'm on vacation, leave the stress at home, and enjoy your cruise. Admitted I'm a people watcher. So I love laying back and watching people fight for minutes. You want ahead of me please.
Why be forced to drink when you don't drink. So what if my roommate drinks that has nothing to do with me. Who wants to waste money for something you don't do and have NEVER done. Drinking isn't for everyone.
Different people like different things. I haven’t done RC or Norwegian but my nephew has. He says the food is better on Carnival and so is the kids club. It depends on what you like.
Plastic bottles for water are the worst recommendation ever. It is so harmful to the environment. Every time anybody opens a plastic bottle they are painfully killing a small part of mother Earth. I have always carried two bottles of refillable and reusable water and have found plenty of water stations all around the ship and in the buffet areas. One bottle stays in the room at all times and the other bottle accompanies me as needed. NEVER has to run to a restaurant or bar for water as suggested by you. This applied to ALL ships and not just Carnival.

Start daily walking (1 mile) approx. 2 weeks prior to your cruise to get into shape for the walking on the ship
Just got back from a 4-day trip, and we must have walked 10+ miles. All over the ship, all over ports of call.
To add, I walk daily on the ships too. Walk off all the food and alcohol. I take stairs instead of the elevators too.

We swam with the sharks in Jamaica a few years ago. All I can say is that it is electrifying when you feed them. Like a lightning bolt in your hands.
If you plan on buying a lot of souvenirs, bring an extra empty tote bag with you so you can have a sturdy bag to bring all of it off with you.
I love the pre-ordered water, but since we often order drink package we just request a bottle of water every time we order a drink! It doesn't count in your drink total and they are very willing to do it while they are handling your drink order anyway.
If you prepay spa packages in advance, be aware that even though you have prepaid, your sail and sign account will incur the same charge of whatever massage or package that you purchased on the day you receive the service!!!! This will reduce the balance on your sail and sign account for that day!! It is released the next day, but this can impact your available balance for spending around the ship, on the day you get your treatment!!
i have been a strictly only disney cruiser but wanting to sail on different ships now my husband and i are in our mid 50s and our daughter is 20 we are non drinkers but love pop loved your video in your opinion what would the best cruise ship be ?
They have an unlimited drinks package that covers just the sodas and juice instead of alcohol. It's around 10$ instead of 60$.
I am going on Mardi Gras in April. It is not my first cruise but will be my first cruise on Carnival. I do not like their older ships at all but I think the XL class ships look great. Excited that there are so many options for included food. We will be trying the steakhouse as we do that on every cruise. Interesting that they have the beer machines, may have to look into that lol.
We sailed in January on Mardi Gras. We had a great time, but it was by far the most packed cruise ship we have ever been on. All the pools are always packed. Resturants you have to plan ahead because of wait times. It doesn't help that there is a staff shortage, but them packing 6k passengers doesn't help. You'll still have a great time. Enjoy!

We learned to book a full year or more out for the best prices.. The past few months Carnival hasn't had any good offers to make me book anything in 2024 yet... Come on Carnival take my money damnit lol
Right now I am finding better deals closer to the sailings. I have done three sailings since the restart and not paid more than $500 per person for an inside cabin for a 7 day cruise.

Texas cruisers out of Galveston beware: the drink package does NOT kick in when you board the ship in Texas! It doesn't kick in until 6AM the following morning!

We get faster to the fun primarily for the ease of disembarking. The should have called it faster away from the fun.
The beer stations never worked on my first cruise :(
If you're leaving out if NYC, Galveston or Norfolk, the drink package is void until day 2 of the cruise. Also, drink packages aren't honored on Half Moon Cay or Princess Cay, both are Carnival's private islands. That really affects the daily value.

My tip is after you do the muster, go to your cabin and drop your carry on off. Just don't stay, drop off and leave.

I wonder what made them decide to go up on the waters so much? In 2022 the 12-pack was $4.95. I know prices have increased in general with everything on the ship, but the water really shocked me the most.
Strongly agree! I am on the fence on whether I order the pack that goes to the room or shall I just bring my tumbler and get the water from the fountain.
They are still passing out the daily happenings and goings on. I don’t know what he was thinking and also they have a paper menu at the MDR. So if you leave your phone in your room don’t stress.
Question I have is you say you have to bring your phone everywhere? What if you don’t get the Wi-Fi package? How does that work on your phone?
Once on the ship, turn on Airplane mode. You will still have access to the Carnival Hub (make sure its already downloaded on your phone prior to sailing) It’s pretty useless prior to sailing, but it does a lot once we're on our way.

I’m cruising tomorrow on Celebration! (Last cruise 1996 on original Celebration). Uber is $80+ to the ship from the airport. Any other suggestions? We’d like to stop for wine and soda on the way too.

The pour your own keg stands still are connected to kegs and co2 canisters that need to be refilled. It’s very annoying to have those cruise employees change those

How does a phone work with no international connection?
The phone app is set up for use with wifi, and the ship has its own internal wifi network that allows the app to communicate with the ship..... If you have not paid for proper internet, then the system will block you from any functionality beyond the Carnival app talking to the ship. At least its free.

I just got off the nudy cruise ship pride it is a old old ship food is not the same anymore cabin are out dated they were always panting the window were dirty. The cabin Stewart was great and the waiter are great food from 1 to 10 1 being bad it was a 4 to a 5 at best I will have a hard time going with them again. 🤬

You said you need to bring your phone I brought my phone was hooked in the carnival The only place I could register and check in to eat was right outside the dining room I had just got back from carnival a trip from hell I got nothing that I was promised I had to bubbly package which meant I had my drinks were all paid for not booze but soda water and all that but I went to get a tomato juice and they tried to charge me $8.95 for a tomato juice really watch what you're doing on the ship they'll try to get you any which way they can I'm in the process of writing a complaint letter to Christine Donahue the president of carnival because of the way I was treated I have a gold status on carnival I have a little over 30 days of sailing time I'm also a stockholder and I got treated so badly I'm considering to go cruising with another company now and I've only been with carnival because they always treated me well
I have never had an issue checking in to eat on the app regardless of where I was on the ship. Once I had to go customer service and they helped me set it up because my VPN was blocking the app
Endless bubbles package clearly lists what is covered. Bottled water is not covered. Only certain juices ( not sure which ones).

Thanks...was wondering as it was missing from the list and I sail our of Norfolk in a few months..... I got F2F on a past cruise our of port Canaveral. It was worth the $50, but not sure I would agree if it costs $120.

I'm with you on the faster to the fun did it ones on our first cruise. Second cruise no and we got to know a family at the hotel that had faster to the fun, on boarding day we walk into the muster station right after boarding, they got on 5 min earlier then we did.
Plus, I'm on vacation, leave the stress at home, and enjoy your cruise. Admitted I'm a people watcher. So I love laying back and watching people fight for minutes. You want ahead of me please.

The best tip concerning sailing on Carnival is to book on Royal Caribbean or Norwegian instead. Your vacation will be much more enjoyable.

Royal is competitive but not Norwegian. Carnival has the best free / small dining options (Guy’s, Shaq’s, Blue Iguana, captain’s pizza, street eats)

Different people like different things. I haven’t done RC or Norwegian but my nephew has. He says the food is better on Carnival and so is the kids club. It depends on what you like.

Plastic bottles for water are the worst recommendation ever. It is so harmful to the environment. Every time anybody opens a plastic bottle they are painfully killing a small part of mother Earth. I have always carried two bottles of refillable and reusable water and have found plenty of water stations all around the ship and in the buffet areas. One bottle stays in the room at all times and the other bottle accompanies me as needed. NEVER has to run to a restaurant or bar for water as suggested by you. This applied to ALL ships and not just Carnival.
