Hi Narayanan. Yes, these lessons are part of a full course called "Tongue Drum Basics." Here is the link to the full online course: rootrhythm.thinkific.com/courses/tongue-drum-basics
@@rootrhythm hi what the approximate cost for this online course? I can’t see with out signing up and I prefer not to set up an account to see. unless I know I can afford it. Oh I think I found it via google will try and sign up but have issue with safari for setting up accounts at the moment so will need to find another device.
The simplicity of these lessons I am encouraged to buy one.I am a drummer and percussion ist. This is interesting, so you don't necessarily need to play a Pacific tune but sound and drum experimental. Its also very beautiful and as well.
Yes, I love how approachable the tongue drum is. As a fellow drummer/percussionist, it has been so fun to incorporate rudiments and apply other snare drum techniques to the tongue drum to give more dynamics to the sounds and rhythms !
Wow... This videos are amazing... I bought myself a beautiful chakra frequency tongue drum and have played it intuitively over the last few years a couple of times. 😅 Might have to practice... My left hand arm feels like a floppy fish!
Thank you for sharing these lessons. I have a C Maj Penta steel drum. Trying to find songs and tutorials and this one is of great help. Thanks a lot once again.
This is so cool! My tongue drum is being delivered tomorrow, and as a guitarist for 40+ years, I am excited to learn this instrument! I will be watching all your videos in their entirety. Thankyou for all this knowledge ❤
bought my first pan today, bought a meinl mini steel tongue A major, will be buying a bigger maybe different one next month, i can't read music or discern notes by ear, but this instrument is perfect for my good rhythm and melody sense for improvising and freestyle.
Thank you so much for this video, I've been really struggling to find tutorials on how to play my tongue drum and this is greatly appreciated. I hope you do more of these in the future (:
I play with backing tracks and follow along with the chords or incorporate my own style into it. I record songs that sound good with the drum, and it’s pretty amazing when you’re able to play it back and hear everything come together. Playing is one thing, but I started by recording, to hear what sounds good and what doesn’t. So many songs I’ve learned through just playing my tongue drum/ pearl jam, rolling stones, ect Highly recommend pink floyd backing track. I used marker and put what each Number is and began learning chords that way. I There’s limitless possibilities with the tongue drum
Love this 💕 will deffo be watching more. I got a tongue drum a few weeks ago and managed to learn my first song in the first hour following another RUclips channel who writes the key numbers at the bottom of the screen but haven’t attempted to memorise any more incase I forget the first one in the process 🤣 these techniques are really helpful. Thank you 🙏🏻
There seem to be three B minor scales - Astral, Insomnia, or Grace. Which is yours? I know so little about the sound of specific notes, but I do know what I like when I hear it. And your drum is wonderful. Thanks.
Thanks so much for your comment. I'm working on creating a 2nd online course for learning the tongue drum and will share a few of the lessons from this course on my YT channel soon : )
Thinking of buying one of these to help with meditation. Thank you for your videos! Do you recommend any particular brand/kind/seller? Thanks a million!
Hi Jenn! That is wonderful. I use mine for meditation all the time. My go to tongue drum is the Kosmosky Steel Tongue Drum. It's the one that is in this video. These mallets came with the tongue drum I purchased from en.kosmosky.com/. I would reach out to them directly to see if they sell the mallets separately.
The type of tongue drum I am using in this video is called a Kosmosky Steel Tongue Drum. This one is called their Astral B-Minor Scale. To learn more about this drum, visit en.kosmosky.com/. Oh interesting. What type of mic are you using? I have a shotgun mic that I attach to my camera. It's about 2 ft away from the drum and is right overhead. Depending on the size of your bedroom, it could also be the sound bouncing off the side of the walls, if you are in a tighter space. Hope that helps.
I have a 13 tone one and can't find anything showing the notes for it I've found pictures showing ones for 8 tone ones but 13 tone seems hard to find any help is appreciated 😁

@@rootrhythm Thanks Alex!! I was wondering - I've listened to all (I think) of your videos, & it sounded like one you had mentioned previously!! I love this sound! :-)
Hi Liala, can you share what style/brand of tongue drum you have? I know some types come with magnets that you can place around the drum to help tune/change the notes.
Hi Uke. I've only played my tongue drum with soft mallets or with my fingers, so I can't speak from experience, but my guess would be that harder mallets would probably create a loud sound, but might be too harsh for this drum. Rubber mallets, could be a nice though. They would probably create a nice bounce and would be good for rolling. I'll have to look into this more. Thanks for the question.
Can you help me figure out the number sequence for a hapi tongue drum please? Its the same drum from a short on here called "classic tongue drum (happy drum) happy birthday tune" Any help is appreciated 🙏🏽
Thanks. Do you have online video courses/lessons?

Which tongue drum is best for therapies, Tuned or untuned?
Tuned! I recommend playing music around the frequency of 200 Hz
How do you record? I record the sound in my bedrooom and it reverbs too much

Hi, I noticed that your tongue drum has holes on that. May i know the reason? Should I drill holes on my one if I dont have them? Cheers!
The holes on the Kosmosky tongue drums are mostly decorative, so there should be no need to make holes in yours.
Wow
notes? is there a songbook for this instrument?
I have a d minor pentatonic scale. After hearing yours, mine sounds a bit sour. Is there an easy way to check for correct tone?

Great video but try removing the background hum next time
4:00 made me subcribe
What kinda of mallets are you using? My drum came with rubber mallets and im wondering will mallets like yours give it a different sound.
