Can you imagine TSMC had approached India in 1980-1990s to explore manufacturing of chips in India, but the then government Congress rejected them because of their socialist policies. People tend to forget that since our independence, we had the radical left policies of socialism in India, and they failed spectacularly. And when India was going bankrupt they approached the IMF and it was the IMF that set the conditions asking the then Congress govt to open the Indian economy to FDI but we are often told the propaganda of Congress as to how they liberalized the Indian economy when in reality the state of Indian economy was so impoverished because of their socialist and license raj policies. I'm still shocked as to how this narrative dominates that they liberalized the Indian economy but in reality it was the IMFs condition for the loan and Congress had to agree. People need to understand freebies and socialist policies never benefit the state they are always doomed.
