Speaking as a survival instructor who has had a waterborne disease, this kit looks amazing. I think it's an excellent set of items for a emergency filtering solution. Definitely worth picking up a few and recommending them to clients.
Water > Everything else You cannot survive without water, especially in an environment in which you are exerting yourself, physically. This applies additionally and especially to combat environments where you are forced to move yourself and 70+ pounds of gear around. You can go three days without water, but you can really only go one day without water in an environment where you're forced to move a decent amount of gear before you begin to cramp, get headaches, suffer excess fatigue, and begin to bring yourself out of the fight. It's for that reason that water is incredibly important for the prepared citizen.
Hi Zach, at 24:32 you said people with penicillin allergies should not use the antibiotic ointment contained within the kit. Given the two pouches of triple antibiotic ointment (generic version of Neosporin) do not contain penicillin or a penicillin derivative, there is absolutely no reason to have a second version of the kit (the "b" kit you mentioned). The only people who can not use the ointment you show in the video are people with allergies to neomycin, bacitracin, or polymyxin. Or to aminoglycoside antibiotics in general. Further, there is little evidence showing minor wound care benefits from an antibiotic ointment vs just applying petroleum jelly, which is mostly what that ointment is full of anyway. I would recommend a small pouch or two of petroleum jelly (vasalene) instead as its a far better fire starter than that piece of write in the rain paper and is good for chapped lips and hotspots.
@@Chc9470 glad he clarified and wrote out these details. Super helpful, to see it and read it, even though I said the same thing to myself. Good to have / know multiple strategies
One of the first things said was, He's here himself, so you don't just get to hear it from me that's just my opinion, then won't let him get a word in edge wise. He wouldn't even let him finish his story about mending his kit and his wife. Quit interrupting him already. It's not a booboo kit - a minute later - my wife needed a bandaid so I ripped open this packet.
I think it would be a good idea to include a simple zip block baggy inside this kit to be able to collect a small amount of water in an emergency. Cause this kit is relying on you having some type of water container.
Unless I'm running to evade, I think a one quart milk bottle to scoop up from the stream will start the first decon. Second step for me is a 190 Micron paint filter to save my Straw or final processes. Maybe a couple of milk jugs huh? Pour pour and pour - tab then to first jar.
What do you do about cryptosporidium? From my research the active ingredient in Aquatabs is sodium dichloroisocyanurate which is not effective against cryptosporidium (although is effective against viruses, bacteria, and giardia).
Aquatabs simply do not kill cryptosporidium. Chlorine and Iodine are not effective against cryptosporidium .. Even Chlorine Dioxide only has low to moderate effectiveness against cryptosporidium. It is something to be aware of and taken into account when disinfecting water.
You always want to have the treated solution go through the threads, especially if you use the Nalgene as an emergency water collection device. Last thing you want is dysentery. Imagine shitting yourself into your pooper is worn through and you're knocking on deaths door.
As someone with no training in this and looking to create my own “go bag” what would be the first way to decontaminate water? Just boiling? He mentioned this is the last resort. I already have a sawyer filter. But that doesn’t remove bacteria
Mildly concerning that tactical Bros will buy this and not know how to use anything effectively. It’s appreciated that you guys provide background on these items so people use them somewhat effectively when they are not constantly interrupting each other mid sentence.
Used it for the first time today, I get that it’s a last line for an emergency but this method is way faster than sucking through a life straw or squeezing a bag on my sawyer just sayin
I don’t drink, but I’m pretty sure if I took a shot each time they say “this is not your primary source” I’d be be in the ER getting my stomach pumped by the end
How many times can we interrupt the tall guy who put this kit together and who knows all about it? Not meaning to hate, but c'mon man, let the man finish a sentence... Aside from that though, great kit, glad your rolling this out.

Take a knee, drink water, clean water! Lol

take a shot everytime Adam says "yea" or "sure" when listening to Zach talk lol. Gonna go through a whole bottle!
Make sure that drink is clean first with CANA Provisions' DECON kit.

I was sitting at work looking at antibiotic list and thought the same thing. I was like no way is there penicillin in triple a ointment

petroleum like the one you use in those old laps?
Grabbed one to go in my hiking bag. Great thought out kit.
Adam let the man talk!
Weird question, are these kits buyable with a PWA/HSA type account?
“Sh*tting myself into oblivion” is a great metaphor for my poor life decisions! 😂🤣💯 Currently on the mend though, so it’s all good! #ChristisLord
This kit is awesome! I have a few of them and they are handy for more than their intended use but it’s very thought out for emergency water
Also, pedilyte pouches. IIRC each one will add enough electrolytes for 1L of water.
CANA is legit. Big fan. Adam is okay I guess. 😅

It’s comes in a zip-lock bag, you could potentially store the remaining contents in your pocket then use the original packaging

Does leaving this in a car in very hot weather going to effect the medication or ointment at all?
Just out of curiosity where can you buy those expandable towels from? Preferably better quality ones?
As soon as he lit the drug facts sheet on fire I was sold 😂
Where can I buy the camouflage shirt your wearing?
Can we get the DARC TUSC gear video back? I’m going through withdrawals Adam
Use the cana package itself as away of collecting water to put into your container
All good things put together, nice. Here in the desert I love the two slightly different camo patterns.
This kit looks awesome, looking forward to that B kit. #nopengang
Oh shit Finally another video hell yeah!
Damn the homies really had their coffee that morning
What about putting betadine wipes in as well, because you can use it to clean. But you can use them to treat contaminated water
Also, you can add the swab to 1L of H20 to clean wounds.
Good video, but I wish that Adam hadn't cut off Zach so much
Well that's one Christmas gift solved for a good handful of people.. One for your car, one for your bag or pocket.

You guys should really consider selling RAID mod tops. Good quality ones are difficult to find for a fair price.
Thank you.
Can someone help me find information for people with Penicillin allergies and using iodine tablets?
It's because of the Triple Antibiotic Ointment not the iodine tablets.
DARC Depression: Restored
The itch to return never goes away
Why should I buy this rather than buying a vile of multiple water purification tabs for less cost?
Using a human cap on naglenes reduces the thread contamination worry, I think.

Those towels would be great as a makeshift babywipe.
Badass

Pretty similar to what came in the little accessory pocket in a USMC IFAK.... all too similar...
Just with a cooler name and cooler package…..imagine that lol
Stupid question: Anyone know what pants adam is wearing?
Adam likes Cana provisions water kits? Shocker. 😂
Why too much talking over each other. Not eniugh on the decom kit.
The talking over one another is so distracting. Great kit though, got one ordered.
DARC has never been 60 degrees. It’s either 115 or zero. But point taken.
