Hey Steve I think that snapper you caught at the end was actually a dog snapper. Very similar to the schoolmasters, but they tend to be more yellow with that basic mangrove snapper face/head while dog snapper have more of that cubera or mutton snapper face/head. Not a marine biologist or anything I just wanted to let you know that.
The biggest indicator that it’s a dog snapper is the elongated dorsal fin that runs almost to their tails and also the dots (usually bright blue) that run parallel below their eyes. I don’t know about Florida but in St Croix they all carried Ciguatera and the locals would not eat them. They’re also easier to shoot with a spear gun than a schoolmaster, they don’t run away as fast. Cool fish though.
@@dww0013 Ciguatera is actually dependent on healthy reefs and clean water to survive. Ironically, the waters around Florida aren't so pristine, so Ciguatera is not much of a problem there. Many barracuda are eaten there as well as a lot of snappers and groupers
I love how you salvage from the Coast, Something my grandparents did a lot, even something I have done or my dad does and a lot of other people. And I hate treble hooks too, or multiple treble hooks.
In a certain way I appreciate you collect items you find in nature for reuse instead of going the easy way buying it in a Shop. World would be better when we all would do it. ❤
Steve, your snapper at the end was a dog, not schoolmaster. They are pretty similar, but dog snapper have more orange than yellow, and most definitively, have a white tear shape marking on each cheek.
Love how your always showing the scavenging. I haven't bought egg sinkers in forever, every time I go to the channels or longkey they are everywhere. Just gotta keep your eyes open.
@ricardomontalbanjr1943 You have very little experience with trebble hook lures. Probably never used one in your life..... Whisper words of wisdom in a fool's ear and they will turn against you quickly. I can name 10 reasons why it's a great idea. You can't name one why it's "pussified"..... Shooo fly.
@ccuellar6212 Name one reason trebble barbs are good.... You can't. Single hooks WITH bait? A must. Trebbles? Bad. Yes... I sit to pee and I have forgotten more about fishing while sitting to pee than you've ever known. But..... If you open your eyes, open your ears, listen to me, take notes AND apply my wealth of knowledge...... you too could have a wealth of knowledge. But you won't. No about of evidence can convince a fool. Fools yell, name call, distract or disappear. They never learn. Excuse me.... I gotta take a leak on the seat.
I don't think you get it, of course he can. He just gets something out of recycling, like a perfectly usable trash can. And we get a slightly cleaner environment.😊
Life goals: Be as happy as Steve when he finds a garbage can in the water
I think thats a Dog Snapper.
The School Masters fin are way more bright yellow. Also that tear or whitish spot that runs down the eye.

Yeah It was a dog
That light colored streak from the eye down is another sign

Should have done a catch & cook with the Dog

Glad to see the pilchards are back. Saw big schools of them crossing the 7 mile bridge yesterday.
love watching your videos while I have my breakfast so had to skip past the muck scooping part :,))--congrats on finding the bin though!

Nothing better than finding cool stuff. I also note that your hat is more and more exciting everyday It is almost perfect.
Steve you'll have to video " trash day" with all 3 cans out by the curb!
Too funny!! Steve your trips are always, some kind of adventure. You always score what you need eventually. Beautiful baby, Goliath groupers. 😮🛶 🌊 🎣
Steve, I’m not a fisherman but I love your show! I put it on for background noise and find myself watching more than using it as noise! Thanks
Lol, haven't seen Steve as happy and excited as when he found that trash bin!
Steve is always fishing for more than fish. He's gonna have that can mounted and on display in his backyard...
Congrats on the garbage can. As your neighbor I know the struggle.
I wish I could be this happy about...anything.
That’s a dope can to find. Good score!
It's a Dog Snapper, triangle mark under the eye makes them easy to identify
I think the lesson here is to tip the garbage man
Beautiful Day. Nice Catch. And a. Trophy 32 Can, Whoo Buddy.
a polarizing filter for your GoPro would be so cool, we would be able to see what you see through the glare on the water much better.
What a purdy snapper!
Manifest trashcan vid. Priceless.
One man's trash is another man's...uh, trashcan? 😂

Monster Schoolmaster!
What a shame the Keys to Palm Beach don't get to keep during the special Goliath season
If you skipped over the beginning garbage can retrieval, you are not true Key West Kayak Fishing fan. 🤣
Love the recycle
Always think of your trash man. They can get any dirt on ya 😁.
Are you stocking any weighted Circle hook jigs in the 2/0 or 3/0 sizes anytime soon ?
That john boat is an artificial reef (illegal) to attract lobsters. someone dumped it and a storm took it off their numbers lol
I really like snappers
Garbage bins are expensive 🎉

dog snapper fasho
Looks like a cubin taxi
I want a garbage can now.
Lol that’s 80 dollars in any store 👍
You Rule.....
Somehow I was unsubscribed. I’ve missed a lot of your content. Time to catch up
Maybe I should get a trash can shirt 👕
Trebble hooks should be clamped to barbless......
In reef fishing and on the flats, I agree
Lets not pussify fishing too.

Fancy Francus obviously sits down to pee.

👍👍👍👏👏👏🎣🎣🎣👍👍👏👏
Steve…send me your address and I will send you one of my Paladin Coolers. I fish Key Islamorada and the 7 mile bridge.
You give kayakers a bad repp😊😊
Can you really not afford a 30$ trash can from Home Depot?!🤣
I don't think you get it, of course he can. He just gets something out of recycling, like a perfectly usable trash can. And we get a slightly cleaner environment.😊
@@johnrickards1908 I get it just fine thanks
@@johnrickards1908 it was a joke…..get over it!
Steve, find a nice quiet spot and slowly read Wisdom 13:1-9 and let it sink in. The end is very humbling 🤔☝️✌️🙏 Viva Cristo Rey ✌️
Just go buy a trash can. only 40 bucks
No.
$40 dollars richer.
Almost said that. They’re $10 where I’m at. I can relate to Steve. It’s about the hunt & free.
I thought about messing with all the crap that was in the can. Yuk! worth the money to not mess with that.@@randyruney5704
