Man, between these new Guitars and those killer pedals that Danelectro released recently, they really have stepped up their game with some quality, affordable gear! 👍🏻🎸😎
🛒- Sweetwater - Sweetwater - sweetwater.sjv.io/KjAY9A Hi everyone, this is the Danelectro 64 guitar! Just some information on the video. I shot the final bits on the Kemper (clean/dirty) as my neighbours came home and they weren't overly happy about noise. 😂 The profile I used is one I made of the amp on my Kemper video which is the Marshall and Rode M3 and my favourite settings.
Great demonstration of this unique guitar! The pairing of the P90 and a humbucker is different but it works. This would be a great addition to anyone’s collection! Thanks Shane and Danelectro!🎸🎸🎸🎸🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾👍🏾
I grew up remembering this brand as a budget guitar. As nice as these new ones are, at $800 US, that buys a LOT of guitar nowadays. A Mexi Strat leaves almost enough change from that $800 to throw in a Katana amp as well! Still, that Dano is lovely & sounds nice.
Excellent review as always mate. Love this guitar definitely the Mosrite style imo and you mentioned Hallmark, I believe Hallmark was started in the 60's by someone who had worked with Semie Moseley .. My first guitar , a Dutch made Egmond Scout has a zero fret , always thought it as a European 50's / 60's thing . Beautiful guitar Shane 👍😉🎸
As Fender keeps pushing their prices up and out of my reach I am forced to look at alternatives. This has been added to a very short list of new potentials. Thank you for the review.
Get a G&L Tribute if you want a Fender sound at a good price. Alternatively you can get a Squier, shield the body cavity with aluminum foil, setup and intonation, and install locking tuners and Seymour Duncan pickups. If you can't do those things yourself, do some research and find out what a local music shop would charge.
Could've sworn you already reviewed this guitar? Not complaining mind you, do more if you want. Does the zero fret help the bottom F barre chord play any easier? Supposedly an advantage
I did a live stream with it a month ago but this is the first review. I did demo the '84 as well. :-) . I haven't really noticed any changes with the zero fret to be honest. I will try it again and see if it's any easier. :-)
That is one seriously sexy beast! Looking forward to part two, really wanna see how the bridge p'up sounds in split coil mode...might just have to get myself one of these!
Great stuff! Not actually a P90 in the neck though, right? I might have missed you clarifying this. I *think* these P90-looking single coils are really just Danelectro's own take on a single coil, fwiw.
Hmm... I can't find another 64'xt like yours. All of the 64xt's I can find have the smaller headstock with the "D" on the headstock. Maybe because it's left handed.
I am trying to think of the new wave band that use these Mosrite style guitars was it Television, ? or Richard Hell and the voidoids anyway sounds very lively and ringing a good review mate
I would love one, but try to get one of these in Australia. I have approached all the Australian distribution sources as listed on Danelectro site, and none can confirm they will even get them. Can't even get one from overseas as Danelectro forbid international sales as part of their conditions. Please someone tell me how to actually get one. In the awesome candy red as on their website.
Hey Shane awesome demo on a quality axe. Any chance you could i a review on an artist brand strat? I’ve got a lefty with 3 Wilkinson single coil pickups and I just want to know you’re opinion on this guitar. They give you 3 months to decide whether you like or not cheers keep up the great work cheers 🍻🇦🇺🎸🍺
@@jayceburns8246 I own the 64xt, if this gentleman is demo'ing the (non-xt) 64, I'm noticing they both have the wilkinson trem. One thing I did just notice is the 64 has the zero fret, the xt doesn't. But other than that and the headstock, I don't see any differences. Very interesting.
@@BrianPremo It seems the '64 has an solid Alder body while the '64xt is chambered plywood with hardboard top. I notice a slight change in the pick guard shape as well. The '64 had optional Bigsby unit.

Agreed man. Their stuff is built well and sounds great especially for the price.

intheblues I fixed my Neighbor noise issue by deciding not to give a crap..... Works great.
Came for the review, stayed for the playing. Great job Shane.

It's known as the "Johnny Ramone combo"..He had it on his Mosrite guitar for entire Ramones existence
zero frets are sweet. makes the tone of your open strings the same as all the others... its a neat idea indeed.
I don't like that. Having the open strings sound different from fretted notes expands the tonal variety of the guitar.
I was googling like for 3 days... I haven't found a single LH Danelectro 64.... WHERE DID YOU GET IT?!
Plenty on EBay
The fact that it's Korean sells it for me also the back looks like 3 tone sunburst. Could be the lights
Guitar ocd no it's a 2 tone

There's shorthorns and their other models are pretty inexpensive. These seem to be the top of their line.
Shane - that guitar is the best of both worlds. That axe kicks butt! I love P90's for the Blues.
Looks and sounds marvelous! Well done, Shane. I just bought another guitar, but this Dano may be next.
Good range of sounds there. That 'humbucker', has a real mid HUMP to it!

My dream guitar with the sunburst is beautiful

So you didn't get the howl on the bridge pickup with higher gain like you did on the 59?
Hey, how do us other left handed players get one of these ?
Nice job Shane!! I think the Guitar sounds Great! Did you get any 60cycle hum from the P-90? Keep up the Good Work Sir!!

Really sounds good, & retro look is cool. I bet this price point great as well. Again, Thanks Shane, & great playing!!!
Hi,
why this guitar haven t the bigsby tremolo? on the danelectro site there isn't the version with the bridge version in this video
That is one seriously sexy beast! Looking forward to part two, really wanna see how the bridge p'up sounds in split coil mode...might just have to get myself one of these!

Hi Dan, I'm a lefty and I'm struggling to find that same copy of that guitar you have.
The dude's name is shane😂😂but yeah, no lefty guitars like this??
Me too. Wish I could find one - I don't want to restring another right-handed guitar!
Hmm...
I can't find another 64'xt like yours.

Hey Shane, I know the ‘59 Dani has coil split but does this one have that as well?
Thanks Shane ,now I have another Danelectro to buy !
Where can I get this left handed?

i love that little lick you keep playing! check it @ 6:32 is that hybrid or just fingerpicking?
It's just a down pick thing and I am hammering on one of the strings. :-)
kool, cheers!
This vs. Danelectro '84. Please make it happen!
The volume and tone knobs looks a little bit plastic at first sight, do are they?
I like your beginning tune, rocks 😄🎸
Thanks man it was a new one. :-)
Shane please, tell me where did you get it... Leftnanded version of this guitar apparently doesnt exist.
Neck pickup aced it during slow blues clean section..

Doesn't this have a coil split for the humbucker?
Can't seem to find left handed models of this anywhere. Was this custom made? Would love to own one.
I got it direct from Danelectro. They will be available on request from shops that order lefties in.
To hear the guitar itself (not his O.D. pedal(s) or his driven amp), skip to 8:15.
Man I really want one of the new Danelectro guitars, but I want to get a PRS first
The pickups sound nice. Are they ceramic or alnico?
There's no specifics on the website regarding the pickup types other than just "humbucker" and "P90". :-) Sorry mate.
sorry if you said it in the video but whats the amp. cheers from merimbula!
Isn’t there a coil tap on that humbucker?
What is the difference between this 64 and the 64xt other than the headstock?

@@jayceburns8246 ah! Thank you for the info. That explains the price difference too.
FINALLY!!!! A lefty 64
Great review, but the pickups sound thin and tinny to me, especially with the clean tone.
How do Think it compares to the MIM fenders you have
Build quality wise its amazing. I mention in the video it's up there with my Tokai guitars visually.
I have one and I love it.
But really. Can you just answer this one pleease? Where, how did you get it in leffty??
I said at the start that Danelectro sent it out.
I thought it had coil split on the humbucker
You meant parallel not perpendicular. Perpendicular is 90 degree apart.
Passable looking Mosrite copy, needs a Dimarzio 12-14 to really sound like the great Johnny Ramone. Don’t like the tremolo on it either
I have to get me one of these
Sky Music need to stock this man!
Its solid body?
Do these really exist as left handed?
I really hate to be the stickler here, but that definitely looks like a three tone sunburst
Yeah I think you're right man. It reminded me of my old two tone but it could be 3 tone.
Yeah it's not a real pronounced three tone. In the sixties I believe that was the most popular color.
what Is the price in Australia for these
wow! it's Amazing! :)
How mch? Tell me rite now
These are probably discontinued by now. I have a feeling Danelectro didn't make too many of them.
nice !! :)
This is a 64xt not a 64
but itlooks like a MOSRITE?
A poor man's Mosrite.
Yes and what about it :)
Too bad it can't do clean tones...
Too bad there's idiots with low attention spans - 8:13
Why show is a guitar we can’t get anywhere. Are you looking to piss people off?
Did you check the Dan Electro website? They do make lefties.
