The war in Syria is simply between Arabs and the Iranian occupation. Anyone will revolt if Iranian militias invaded their country. Arabs want to purge Iran "Persians" from arab lands. Arabs don't mind a Russian presence in the Mediterranean if Russia won't interfer in their business.

    • @alvarobarcala

You are totally right. And taking Tartus doesn't just remove Russians from the Mediterranean, but it would totally cut the supply of weapons that Russia makes into the Near-Middle East, cutting then its influence in these areas, plus reducing the power of those who attack Israel. So, all of that makes it obvious that the West is behind the rebels move. And I have nothing against it!

I think North Korean Troops were ALREADY there - in 2018.
I wonder what effect the fighting next door to Syria ---- between Hezbollah and Israel is having on Syria and whether there is any connection between the "Hezbollah-Israeli" Conflict and the Syrian Rebels taking Aleppo.

      c) it's not clear that Trump is in employment of Putin, I hate Trump and don't think that he's necessarily working *for* putin, he's transactional and he will work with whoevers best for him on any given day. Putin's been objectively working more for Trump than Trump has been working for Putin. However there's many western commentators who have taken Russian money to push Russian talking points. If the war is stopped only after Ukrainian territory is ceded to Russia, Putin might be happy with that bearing in mind that his focus will be not just on the land itself, but also, what's actually under the soil. Yes, Ukraine will have that bit of Russian territory also which it could use as leverage for an exchange in future negotiations, but if that part of Russia does not have those precious materials, it is doubtful that Putin would be interested in having it back in any deal to return Ukrainian territory. The strategy Ukraine is using at the moment seem pretty effective and could even lead to the collapse of Russia, but one gets the feeling that Zelensky is fatigued is just getting tired of it all.
