    I've always left it up to the tire shop if i need a plug or patch and never had a tire fail on me. ✌ Btw good video by the young man, he didn't shake or jerk the camera around so i don't know what some of the complaints are about.

    Problem with plugging is anyone can buy the kits and do it, Consequently you have people who will try and plug a hole/tear they shouldn't, and are simply unable to determine the condition of the tyre overall.
    Done correctly and appropriately there should be no problem.
    I've no doubt an internal patch is better, but it's so costly.
    I know people talk about plug failures, but how often is that? I'm sure there are far more failures due to people running them down to the cords.

    I just had one plugged. Two days later and the pressure was down 2 #. I soap watered the plug and it was leaking . Took it back and demanded a patch. No more leak!

    Why didn't you vacuum the carbon dust out of the wheel after you buffed the inside of the tire at the point of the leak?

    Always get a patch if you can. I picked up a nail last year and the patch is still good.

    I like the plug patch concept but I cannot afford replacing the tire if the nail is not within the center area of the tread. So I plug my tires instead.

    Got the shop to fix my leaky tire I don’t see anything on the outside so I’m sure I got a patch done on the inside. The hole so tiny you couldn’t see the hole but it’s been holding air ever since the repair

  • @geoben1810
    @geoben1810 3 года назад +1

    If I'm going to patch it I DON'T want to make the hole bigger. I will prep it of course, but I want the hole to remain as small as possible. Plugging it requires reaming the hole to enlarge it just enough to allow the plug to seat properly.

  • @ronijr4918
    @ronijr4918 3 года назад +25

    This is a waste of time and more expensive. THE TRUTH IS THEY PATCH IT SO THEY CAN CHARGE YOU MORE FOR LABOR TIME. A plug will hold 100% if done properly anything that is not performed properly will fail even a patch. The dealership I work at only plugs and have never had a comeback due to a " PLUG GONE BAD " .

    You did not remove the blue plastic film on either side of the patch..why? You are supposed to remove the plastic before pulling patch thru hole and after stitching...

    Why didn't you torque the lug nuts in a star pattern like you're supposed to do. I got to give you credit, at least you torqued them!

  • @MakePeopleMadForFun
    @MakePeopleMadForFun 4 года назад +2

    Actually you don’t want to drill the hole bigger. You can mark it on the inside before you take the screw out and draw a circle where the puncture is. Buff it, glue it, put a normal patch, stitch it and then put a layer of glue around the diameter of the patch.

    The main reason you would plug a tyre/tire is if you get a puncture on the road!
    Patching is not an option.
    We know patching is better, but you cannot do it by the roadside!
