Been wanting to draw in this style ever since I played BotW (which wasn't that long ago, lol). RUclips recommended your video a year after you posted it, and I love it. Will try it out.
THANK YOU!!!!! I have no clue how this doesn't have more views already, but I found you through Twitter and I'm very impressed, so glad somebody researches art styles like this out there and takes time to make videos on it
I'm a super big fan of this video, my younger self really wanted to replicate the art style of BotW, and now that I'm watching this video, I can do my younger self justice by using what you're teaching in this video to finally do that! Keep up the great work, man :)
Goodness gracious, I can’t really put my thoughts of how thankful I am into words! This helped me so much and since I’m obsessed with that art style and tried to recreate it several times (without an ordinary outcome) this video helped me so much. I’ll see how it goes and you definitely have me as one of your new supporters.
This looks actually incredible, literally looks exactly like the promo art style. And I’m sure you already have a ton of suggestions but if you’re looking to replicate another video game art style, and also looking for a decent challenge, you should check out the artist, Yoji Shinkawa who was the lead character and mechanical designer and general artist behind the entire metal gear solid series as well as Death Stranding and its upcoming sequel :)
I know it's an old video but damn I feel you at the twitch bit. Back then I was lazy and take a long time to start and finish any drawing ever. But when I started streaming on twitch I felt so motivated because it's a damn vibe chatting with people whilst I'm drawing and stuff So ye keep up ya good art \o/
Fun fact: some NPCs don't use the Mii format and actually are custom models. Examples are Sayge, Bludo, Buliara, Isha, Kaneli, Kilton, Beedle, Rhoam, Zelda, Impa, Paya, Link, Bolson, Muzu, Donephan, Robbie, Purah, Hestu, Sidon, Yunobo, Tulin, Teba, Kass, Harth, Monk Maz Koshia, Master Kohga, Dorian, Hudson, Riju-
This is the first video of yours that I've come across, and I already love it. I might send this to my artist friend for him to watch. As for game artstyles to break down, I can recommend the Persona series. It might be a bit long if you choose to look at the artstyle across the series, because it evolves with each game, but if you ever feel like it, I would like to see you tackle it.
Dude I remember hitting you up on reddit after you posted this asking about commissions. Too funny, it took me until partway through the video to realize you were the same person haha.

Thanks for the video, I especially like the approach you did on studying the art and looking for artist interviews to get a better understanding. Since I got the collector's edition for TOTK, I've been considering trying some art with that style (The artbook is amazing!) but not necessarily related to The Legend of Zelda ^^ It was really inspiring to watch your video!
This is awesome! I gotta do more studies and breakdowns of my favorite styles myself, and botw's is one of the top on my list. Your execution here is very convincing and beautifully vibrant, especially the back rim lighting, and really inspires me to do some myself. Im focusing more on 3D art right now, but I've really developed an appreciation for digital painting as of late. Would love to catch one of your streams and paint along some time. Keep it up!
You did Morshu so well!! The way you explained stuff was so cool and it really looks like official art. Glad I found your channel, you're way too underrated :))
nicely done. I tried to replicate this art style myself, and I know, how difficult it is. My weak points are often the values. In this situations I ask myself, how hard it must be for the original artist to came up with this in the first place. 🤯 And by the way: don’t be too hard to yourself. We are doing art for ourself, not for the audience 😊 If an artwork or a video takes longer, than expected, it’s fine. Art shouldn’t be rushed ☯️
Ooooh this was so good! You really broke it down and replicated it perfectly! I’m trying to replicate Genshin Art style in 3D! So many games use that style! You ever going to do anything like that??
Hey man, this is a good vid, just discovered your channel, I love this idea for a series, planning to watch the Ace Attorney vid after. One thing I would say, having that wiggling effect on those snips of text & images is not particularly great for readability. Making them waggle like that doesn't really add anything to the visuals, and just makes them harder to read. Maybe a slow push in or push out, or a slide in of the artwork below, that's enough to add some motion to the frame.
Hey, loving these videos after finding the Hades one. Could I request/suggest some games for a video in this series? Would love to see one from any of these, which I love the art styles of: Fire Emblem (Awakening in particular is my favourite) Unicorn Overlord (or 13 Sentinels. Vanilla ware games in general are gorgeous) Persona 5 (Atlus games are all very pretty as well)
I haven't given it a try, but with a mouse, you're gonna lose control of being able to taper the ends of your brush strokes. If you're able to somehow simulate/work around that, then maybe. Luckily the art style doesn't have a lot of color blending involved
@@thomoclock ok good to know. I've gotten pretty close to the original art style but it still not as good lol! (I might have to invest in a drawing tablet soon.)
