The ASV 75 is a beast! I haven't run one with a mulcher head but definitely on my list. How did it do on fuel? If you can get ahold of some knives for that loftness you would be surprised how much faster it will eat material.
You guys have such cool videos! Thanks for the visit. We put on carbide teeth because we are going to be mulching up my cabin, doors, windows, sink and all.
My Grandad was always close to me, we would do literally anything together, from playing chess to landscaping. The past few years have been quite tough, he was diagnosed with dementia. Things are the same anymore, so I come here to watch Stanley, reminds me of the good times I had with my Grandad. Thanks, Mate :)
Man I'm right there with you. my grandparents have been in assisted living and since cov we haven't been able to go see them. I was set to go see my grandmother when her organs started failing almost 3 weeks ago Well hospice gave her cov and they stopped visitors. We buried her yesterday. My grandfather looked like a broken man they were married over 75 years. It pisses me off her last year here I couldn't even spend time with her. I know my grandfather won't be far behind. Cherish your time brother.
He hasn't passed away thankfully, just isn't the "Full Shell" as they would say, makes me cry to see him like this. It was only a few years ago where he would teach me maths, do basically anything with me, wish I had made the most of those times. Sad to see him slowly go like this. This is probably one of the biggest lessons for me that I will ever learn, don't understand why it happened to him out of all people. Love him lots :(
Stanley. Love you show. But I have to tell you I am a GC in three states. My family owns Six Falcon machines. They're owned by my nephews and cousins. I carry all their insurance on my company. They do not cut down any trees over 3 inches with the chipper. They have learned lay them down flat with chainsaws. Then they cut out the stumps, and then grind everything to mulch. They have converted weed wackers with saw blades tooth in the brush out, or take hanging tree limbs out. They have found the same about half of the fuel on a skid steers and by having somebody walking through the brush they have less garbage or cables that ruin the heads. And I do believe you're going to have to go over that again because you're sitting
Agreed 100%. Depending on terrain, (maintenance vs. reclamation,) one good sawhand, with an hour’s headstart, can “Lay Out” in front of a machine, to the point where the machine is just mowing and mulching. These machines can certainly fell trees, but just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. Once you’ve paid for a set of bearings, maybe a set of teeth, and a re-balance, you will understand what these machines are meant to do.
Nice save in the sinkhole, and I totally understand getting carried away when your brush cutting especially when you get a new toy like that thanks for a good show

I will say I was a land clearing for a damn and laying in the brush was farmers wire and man let me tell you it’s a fun time getting that out of the head 😂
Hi Stan. i run a Cat 259d3 with a Blue Diamond brush cutter . i have done quite a bit of clearing of the brush in this video. i call it swamp willow here and it doesn't seem to matter what time of year that i mulch it ,it seems to be quite stringy and occasionally wraps up around the disc. persistence seems to prevail with that stuff. great video.
That's the plan! kind of. I am only borrowing it short term but Ive got 3 videos ready to go ending next week at the cabin-doors, windows -even the toilet gets mulched up.
Well all i can say is i looked after a 2012 model pt100g with a fecon mulching head on it for 8yrs & i hated the thing. It was the highest maintenance thing ive ever worked on.
What I learned from other channels: steady wins the race. Let the flail do its work and follow it, instead of smashing it forward at the speed you want to drive. Plus they go back and forth, back and forth and work in straight lines.
That's different than most forestry mulchers I've seen, the ones I've seen look like a giant mowing deck with a giant triple ended blade sorta like a fan blade but obviously straight cut like mower blades. Those things legit cut even 3" thick trees down in seconds and work either way you do it like the top and work your way down method like you were doing or the mower like action you were also doing. I've yet to see one of the mulchers like that till now, reminds me of like a wicked intense Harley rake. Awesome video as always Stan.
Might want to borrow that mulcher again after the snow melts to get rid of the little stumps left because of the snow. Plus if you do get stuck you can then get a machine down there to help winch you out.
You were not afraid of that by any means lol it took me about 3 days of running a forestry mulcher on a kubota svl pushing an FAE mulcher head and it works great for right of way clearing .. I upgraded to a PTO tractor 3 point with 240 horse on it i can take down anything in my path lol i have taken down buildings with the tractor driven and it takes some major power .. ASV i think is the only Skid Steer that offers a forestry special option for that application
With willows you have to take your time and let them feed in more slowly and make sure they clear the head before taking another bite. They break up much nicer when its cold out around -20 degrees celsius, then they really crackle. I frequently run a Promac disc mulcher on a Hitachi ZX160LC excavator and one of my least favorite things to mulch up is green stringy willows.
Great video as always here in ireland we would have the mulcher on the back of a 200hp tractor we use valtra tractors there swedish but u can get them rear wheel steer for these jobs
@@Dirtmonkey about a week probably, with a 870 or 299 or 120. Check out Cimaf with teeth, that's the real deal, especially if they're no rocks. High, high maintenance costs.. very high.
Great to hear! Glad these vids have helped you. have you heard my new podcast? Thats where I have more new content that can help a person with their business. Its called landscape disruptors.
That attachment works awesome on the small stuff, could be a bit heavy for the loader, especially since ASV deleted the counter weights, put it on a RT120 and it would shine. But very informative show thanks.
you know cleaner it is logger it will last for one you will see problems faster and be fix before other problems become big problems and cost more $$$$$ Thanks for the video that's funny the dog turns around to tell you off an runs off to the dog buddy's that's just so funny lol after you git it all clean up an if you plowed an cultivator then plat grass in at lest some of it the hay an straw the cows will love you .
👍👍 Yes it did hit 80° 3/26/20 so I used the a/c for the first time this year. Left it in cool mode, fell asleep, woke up at 5am it was 62° and I'm in shorts. Now you have to work the soil or it all grows back.
The part where you about buried it, I've got about 20 acres of land like that full of the same type brush. I had my T190 wide track with a heavy brush deck in it and almost had it stuck a few times. Finally gave up before I would have ended up with a heafty recovery bill to get it out! For that area I'm probably stuck with a chainsaw and a chipper. Still would like to try a mulcher head through it though! Lol
Man, all I can think is that it would be cool to have one of those. There are millions upon millions of acres of the west that need treatment like this, so as to reduce fire risk. I'd personally like to see, as a start, every forest road have something like this done for 50' on either side - that way every road is a decent fire break, hopefully slowing and / or limiting the spread of wild fire until such time as the rest of the forest can get treated. Question for ya: So, now that you ground it all down, would you burn off those areas as well, at least once its safe and able to do so, then re-seed? Or will the pasture come back of it's own? "How Farms Work" has a vid every year it seems where they're knocking back the brush on the edges of their pastures to either keep it in check, or reclaim additional area for forage for their cattle.
Can you make a video about loading trailers, tying everything down, and hooking up to your truck. I have seen so many different ways and I don’t know what is right…maybe your style of loading trailers could help me make up my mind on what is right. Thanks Great video by the way
If you like this stuff and think you want to give it a go, search for Cat 299 burning .. there should be a few mulchers in flames out there somewhere. Carry a few fire extinguishers (Halon) and keep her cleaned and blown out and pray for no hydro leaks and that you can lower the mulcher and escape when the time comes. Counterweights on this machine to keep the nose down and help it not get stuck so easily and to lessen wear on the undercarriage components. And teeth not carbides on a mulcher are the trick to getting a lot more work done, and a lot cleaner finish.
Being able to watch this in 4k is so much different than staring at your cell phone. Wow ! huge difference Where can I send a bottle of that whip for the battery terminals?
Take a long time for wood to rot,I think a dozer would work better but it’s two completely different schools of thought and process,I’d like to see the ground in summer after it really warms up
I run a fecon on a older T-320 bobcat, I find it faster to eat into the trees, drop them forward, drop the head down and eat forward and then tip it down and pull backwards.
That's what we call Dirt Monkey action Thanks ta for putting together this video. From Maryam and SAQIB From SILVER ROSS GROUP INC the LANDSCAPING and construction experts Waiting for an SHOUT out from Stan We support you from TORONTO Canada
Those two uprights and the cross bar are not designed to “catch and guide big trees”. You should use it to push a large tree over as you cut it. It’s a push bar, not a catch bar. There is no “catching” of large falling trees. Besides August Hunicke’s tree catching antics I guess.
It wraps up next Friday with the cabin with one break inbetween on Wednesday when we launch a Massive giveaway with Ballard inc. hes giving away a $19,000 plug and play lawn care setup.
@@Dirtmonkey WOW. That’s amazing. I’ve always wanted to start a lawn care business. Idk if the equipment he’s giving away would be THAT type of equipment... but that’s what I would use it for. I have found that it works best when things are well frozen. At least with using my Stihl FS saw with a saw blade. Black Berry at colder than 20 degrees is easily cut with polyline.
Hey in the middle of watching your video you should check out Upstate brush control and the belt and son they do forestry mulching you might get some pointers they're watching their videos I've run front end loaders backhoes products like your ASV but nothing with the forestry mulching head on it yet like to give it a try one day great job good videos
Stan have you thought about hiring a helicopter crop sprayer to get those small brush to go through with a mulcher or rotary cutter and know that what you are hitting is deader than a door nail no sap running through the shoots and limbs
Stanley, you get to play with the cool toys. You want to watch some land clearing for technique, go over to V Belt and Son channel. They run a Taheuchi tracked skid steer that is 110 HP with a $35,000 FAE mulching head. It literally mows down tress.
How well does the mulcher stand up to hitting harder things like rocks or chunks of metal buried in trees (I've actually found a small engine inside of a tree I cut down once - chewed up 3 chains on the chainsaw before we cut enough away to figure out what it was).
Hey bub what motor is in your ASV??? In 2003 I demo one and supposedly it had a CAT D-5 Dozer motor ... I never confirm it but it had a brush hog on it and it was powerful....Sam from Labor By Neighbor
I own a small dirt contracting and clearing company, curious what the overhead and maintenance cost looks like on these? Running a d6 right now, been straddle the fence on buying either this setup or a smaller dozer. Curious also what the going rates an hour people are charging/ being charged. Charging $125 an hour on my d6, would plan to charge $70-90 hour on a d3-d5 low profile tractor. Located around dfw Texas just the going rates around me, or from what I gather they are. Little over 15 years of mixed equipment experience too makes a difference on my end product results.
That Unit is Vicious, Although It Looked as Though a Clearing Mower Might Had Been Better Suited For That Particular Scenario. Regardless, Another Great Video Sir, I’ll Catch You in The Next One.
On the next video I start to figure it out better. I can tell by the sounds and feel a little more and then on Next Friday I take it into clearing up the cabin-doors, windows, toilet and all.
Please explain what a “Clearing Mower” is, and how it could possibly be more suited for that task, than a mulching head. It’s a million dollar concept.
@@jaredbaratono897 it is a Brush Hog Attachment That Utilizes Cutters That Would Resemble an Axe Head Opposed to Blades Like a Lawn Mower. Same Concept, Only it’s a Flat Deck, That Comment Was My Opinion , Certainly Not A Statement of Fact.
Is there any chance of maybe seeing a review of the top-of-the-line ASV once the seasons warm up a bit more? Like the RT-120 Forestry or a Cat 299D3 XE Land Management I maybe in the market sooner rather than later
@@Dirtmonkey That would be great, thank you!! Really respect and value your input on different machines and how to do jobs, always learning something new!
If you turn the cows loose in the brush is there not enough grass or would it be to hard to keep track of them? I figured they would knock down a lot of the brush on their own.
Would love to have one of those up here but I would think with all the large rocks I have it would tear it up. Why were you not taking out the larger trees?
Stan what is the high flow gpm on the asv looked like it’s a little low for the head your running. And that machine needs more counter weights. But I agree if the sap Is just starting to run those small saplings get stringy. I run a 72” rhino high flow brush head on my newholland 228 will cut up to a 4-6” tree depending on type
I think the flow rate is 3500? Does that sound right? I can't remeber what Buck told me it was et at for the ASAV 75. But it was tuned to the machine and yep- it needed a counterweight but I didn't have one.
Yup. Counterweights sticks out bigly, then more flow, then teeth not carbides and be sure to have forestry grade door/windshield. Weights would have helped keep the machine from nose diving into the hole, and help keep undercarriage wear off the front bogeys, etc. Keep her blown out, too. Fire is real.
The ASV 75 is a beast! I haven't run one with a mulcher head but definitely on my list. How did it do on fuel? If you can get ahold of some knives for that loftness you would be surprised how much faster it will eat material.

I have a brother in law that did mulching. They used the big round circle forestry head. nice video.
That attachment is a beast! Sweet video!
It sure is!
Might want to borrow that mulcher again after the snow melts to get rid of the little stumps left because of the snow. Plus if you do get stuck you can then get a machine down there to help winch you out.
I still need to go through the site and do more clean-up
@@Dirtmonkey I didn’t think it would meet your standards, am sure it was just a brush cutting measure to make spring clean up easier
Anyone else excited to see this rip through the abandoned house property the bought? Stan can't wait for that
Great video as always here in ireland we would have the mulcher on the back of a 200hp tractor we use valtra tractors there swedish but u can get them rear wheel steer for these jobs
So cool to see how that mechine works like that just eats the stuff right up
It was so fun to run! Have a good one bud and thanks for tuning in.
You can definitely make money with a forester head. I had 20 acres in Oklahoma, had a company come in to clear the underbrush. Cost me $8,000.
how long did it take them to clear it?
@@Dirtmonkey about a week probably, with a 870 or 299 or 120. Check out Cimaf with teeth, that's the real deal, especially if they're no rocks. High, high maintenance costs.. very high.
I'm also from Minnesota and my cabin is kind of by your cabin so someday I may stop by to say hello..
that would be cool!
Love your videos, Stan! Thanks for helping me grow my business!
I love seeing Lucy! I have a dog that looks the same, but less hound named Lucy too!
👍👍 Yes it did hit 80° 3/26/20 so I used the a/c for the first time this year. Left it in cool mode, fell asleep, woke up at 5am it was 62° and I'm in shorts. Now you have to work the soil or it all grows back.
3:00 the asv honesty looks cool with the cage
I like it! but without the cage its equally awesome!
@@Dirtmonkey ya
Looks like it does ok but I see why ASV recommends the 120 for the mulcher head now it takes a lot of horse power to operate that head!
It does. That head is a beast.
Lol
Was gonna recommend Upstate Brush Control, and they are already here! ❤️🇺🇸
Very satisfying watching this thing chew up the crap brush
Awesome. Glad you enjoyed it.
That was so cool to watch!! from a safe distance of course
😃😉👊
Can you make a video about loading trailers, tying everything down, and hooking up to your truck. I have seen so many different ways and I don’t know what is right…maybe your style of loading trailers could help me make up my mind on what is right. Thanks
Great video by the way
Yes I can
Love this video, just plowing through bushes and branches 😊
Wow ! huge difference
Where can I send a bottle of that whip for the battery terminals?
That tagelder brush will take over a pasture damn fast. I need to get one of them that bad ass
That's what we call
Dirt Monkey action
Thanks ta for putting together this video.

Those two uprights and the cross bar are not designed to “catch and guide big trees”.
You should use it to push a large tree over as you cut it.
It’s a push bar, not a catch bar.
There is no “catching” of large falling trees.
Besides August Hunicke’s tree catching antics I guess.
I think we pretty much said the same thing but with different words.
@@Dirtmonkey Agreed. My head disagreed with you as I was listening, but it caught up with your meaning, in a sec or two....
Looking forward to the rest of this series coming up!
I’m so tired of being stuck working at the same factory. I wish I could start my own business and escape this life. Maybe some day. Thanks for all you do bud. 🙏
its the total package he is giving away. Trailer, mower, trimmers, blowers and more.
@@Dirtmonkey woah. That’s awesome!
Hi I woch your videos everyday tell the team I said hi and I woch thor videos everyday I love you guys I love the video
John! you are awesome my man! the team says Hi and so do I! thanks for always tuning in.
No problem
This mulching attachment makes full trees look like my Lilly’s I cut during clean ups. 110% worth emission
Wow that doesn't take long to get rid of underbrush. very cool
I've got so much to do I think I need to do a controlled burn.
@@Dirtmonkey That's definitely a good way to cover a lot of ground and there is really no clean-up.
Great video bro thanks for sharing and I can't wait to see the next video bro 👍😉
Thanks for the visit
You should try a Boss EXT on your next personal truck, they look very similar to a Hinker scoop but with the wings.
Stan have you thought about hiring a helicopter crop sprayer to get those small brush to go through with a mulcher or rotary cutter and know that what you are hitting is deader than a door nail no sap running through the shoots and limbs
Thats solid advice. If I had killed it off before mulching it This mulcher would have smoked through this area fast!
@@Dirtmonkey and ask if you can put a GoPro on the chopper or plane and then you can tell more childhood stories
My dad was a crop duster. that was what our family did. I used to work on his ag cat bi plane growing up.
Stanley, you get to play with the cool toys.
You want to watch some land clearing for technique, go over to V Belt and Son channel. They run a Taheuchi tracked skid steer that is 110 HP with a $35,000 FAE mulching head. It literally mows down tress.
Those guys have some cool toys as well. Have a great weekend.👊😃
I saw the face plant.. yep Stan is at it again!
How well does the mulcher stand up to hitting harder things like rocks or chunks of metal buried in trees (I've actually found a small engine inside of a tree I cut down once - chewed up 3 chains on the chainsaw before we cut enough away to figure out what it was).
if you can tune in next Friday when I mulch up my cabin. thats full of hidden hard stuff.
@@Dirtmonkey you know I won't miss it.
What does mulched GoPro look like? Those machines are crazy impressive!
They are!
I got a rottie with that same attitude.. but be damned when it’s momma time .. it’s the best type to have .
Mulcher head belongs in a Hollywood movie.
Hey bub what motor is in your ASV??? In 2003 I demo one and supposedly it had a CAT D-5 Dozer motor ... I never confirm it but it had a brush hog on it and it was powerful....Sam from Labor By Neighbor
This has one of my favorite motors- a cummins
I own a small dirt contracting and clearing company, curious what the overhead and maintenance cost looks like on these?
Running a d6 right now, been straddle the fence on buying either this setup or a smaller dozer.
Curious also what the going rates an hour people are charging/ being charged.
Charging $125 an hour on my d6, would plan to charge $70-90 hour on a d3-d5 low profile tractor.
Located around dfw Texas just the going rates around me, or from what I gather they are.
Little over 15 years of mixed equipment experience too makes a difference on my end product results.
Rough job, really surprised the 75 seemed to do the job...
I have a coonhound and a coonhound lab mix both awesome dogs I didn't know you had one mine listen just as good as yours 🤣
I sure hope Stanley and John do a collaboration video this summer.
Awesome video looks like a lot of fun
Thank you for another great video
Thanks for watching!
How much was the dump trailer new I really like it
$11,000 from texas Pride
Hi Stan, how long in real time did all that take, great video as always, God bless
That was about 3 to4 hours but we kept going after the video was over.
That’s Absolutely Going To Be A Show ! Can’t Wait. God Bless
Please explain what a “Clearing Mower” is, and how it could possibly be more suited for that task, than a mulching head. It’s a million dollar concept.
probably a brush hog Im guessing?
@@jaredbaratono897 it is a Brush Hog Attachment That Utilizes Cutters That Would Resemble an Axe Head Opposed to Blades Like a Lawn Mower.
Same Concept, Only it’s a Flat Deck,
That Comment Was My Opinion , Certainly Not A Statement of Fact.
Excellent camera work
Is there any chance of maybe seeing a review of the top-of-the-line ASV once the seasons warm up a bit more? Like the RT-120 Forestry or a Cat 299D3 XE Land Management I maybe in the market sooner rather than later
I think I can do that. I have to make arengments to line one up so that may take a bit but its doable.
@@Dirtmonkey 3500 that's the pressure GPM should be around 38 to 40 gals per min
Thanks for clarifying that.
