Not just any old hangar- I believe that its the largest wooden structure in the world, I visited the Tillamook aircraft museum about 10 years ago on a visit to the US.
Pretty awesome for a little Engine!!! *Blimp hanger!* - 11:10 They also have these out in El Toro, California from WWII... Didn't know they had them up in Oregon?
I suspect the track down the center of the blimp hangar was used with weighted cars to guide the blimps in + out, as is done with shipboard helicopters. If there was the slightest breeze, the blimp would get slammed against the structure, not a good thing.
@@derricksmith4408 I was referring to the Toyota Celica on the far left but that plane is a marvel just like the locomotive. Always enjoyed touring vintage planes in various air museums, especially the B-17s and P-51s.
So, as a 10 year old, I've only seen 4 steam locomotives in Oregon. 1. Southern Pacific 4449 2. Oregon Scenic Railroad #2 (4-0-4?) 3. SP&S 700 4. Some 4-6-2 And now this.
How will it get to Garibaldi? From Google Earth, it looks like the lumber yard in Tillamook is impassable by now. I could not find another route from the Blimp Hangars.
N&W 2156 Y6a Older sister to 70. 10 year age gap, 70 is more of a carbon copy sister than an exact one, but still a twin as you say. 2 was built for Saginaw, later taken over by Polson, and they had another 70 ton copy made in 1922. 90 was always my favourite, but restored No 2 makes that very hard with her gorgeous livery and appearance.
Aye, oil. Most locomotives on the West Coast burned oil for logistical reasons. A number, especially in smaller timber camps, burned wood but you can't feasibly do that with an engine this big.

nowhere near restored. paint is flaking . dirty. did anybody notice the wheel coming off the rim of the truck when it was pulling the train out of the hanger.?.
@@steamandsmoke97 Small correction: it's a boiler tube 5 chime whistle. I was told so by several OCSR crewmembers, including Scott Gordon, SP 4449 crewmember and OCSR crewmember.
@@stuartadamsrailfanningvideos Sure as hell looked like there were 6 tubes on it to me, there again they never give you a very good close up of it here. Either way it's not the best sounding boiler tube I've ever heard. I have a couple of them and they sound a hell of a lot better than that.
She is BEAUTIFUL!!! I am so glad she's back in service :)
What a grand little engine. beautifully captured as well/. Love the sounds and I think I can smell it all. Best wishes form Australia. :-!

Looks like I need to plan a trip out to Tillamook again this summer. So much cool history in that town.
So happy she's running in Oregon! I wanna go see her soon, along with the other locomotives at the railroad.
Owen Meschter me to :)
Wow Nothing like good old Train's..The look Sounds and the smells of it .
So happy she’s running on the Oregon Coast railroad :D
Very happy to see this old girl finally back in action. Sucks it's gotta be all the way in Oregon though. Thanks for posting!
It's a amazing and we love it. Thank you for a best video.

The tracks through the hanger date back to the construction of the building. Part of the huge crane that lifted the roof frames rode on those rails.
Really nice video! Great work.
Beautiful Mikado
What’s funny is that that locomotive was the first time that I ever rode a steam locomotive and it was on my 10th birthday
awww the WHISTLE.... Fabulous !!
Great footage!
#2 is the gem of the OCSR!
Also the 1st couple seconds literally make it seem like it's extremely early morning. Then the cloud cover makes it seem like 7:00 AM
I hope this whole railroad gets restored & rebuilt
That bell sounds like east broad top 15s bell
Looks like a super guppy type plane, real nice locomotive
What whistle is 2 wearing?
12:00 Another old relic that still runs, on the left side.
The mini-guppy does not still run/fly, it was retired in 1994 and is now part of the museum. There is a staircase leading out the back of it.

None.
It’s not every day you pull a steam engine out of an aircraft hangar!
Went on the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad this year. Fun time.
when could #2 be running with a train on ocs rr ?
Beautiful restoration.
Adding air pressure and flames to the firebox can help make the fire ignite faster and hotter.
Beautiful old girl. Steam engines are such amazing machines
What's that plane doing overthere?
The old man oiling her at 2:25 looks like her old engineer lol.
What is the date of manufacture?
How will it get to Garibaldi? From Google Earth, it looks like the lumber yard in Tillamook is impassable by now. I could not find another route from the Blimp Hangars.
How long will it take for steam engines to be put back into service on some railroads?
Literally, “ planes , trains, and automobiles “
TRIPLEVALVE62 THE DEPOT they are in tillamook.... they are in the air museum
9:45 Great Shot !
Have they enabled the signals yet?
Nice video, bra needs to come off the cow catcher
Wasn't this locomotive at Mid Continent Railway Museum?
👏👏👏👏excelente máquina 👍

I've never seen a locomotive being pulled out of an Airplane hanger.
And you still haven't. It's a blimp hanger.
@@williammurphy2711 Either way you slice it a hangar is still a hangar. Though I appreciate the correction. :)
Wouldn't that be an airship hangar, since it was built for the super airships Akron, Macon, Shenandoah, and Los Angeles?
its now a train hangar
me gustó mucho gracias 👍🏼
is this oil fired
What type of fuel does she take?
Bio diesel.
What whistle is that?
Looks like a decapod type.
why are there train tracks in the blimp hanger
They date back to the construction of the hanger. Part of the huge crane they used to lift the roof framing rode on those rails.
What a cool sounding train. BTW, is this the same Baldwin company that made pianos back in the day?
No, not the same Baldwin.
0:25 what’s that hissing steam noise.
I wonder if that logging Blimp is still in there
It is. Was there last Summer.
Sounds good! 4:24
What's with that plane near the tracks? And is that a hangar that the locomotive went into?
That is a museum piece taken out of commission
@@CRFProductions2023 I see.

Losing a lotta steam out of the R/H valve chest...
Why is she kept in a air craft hanger
Nice old thing, I know it's required but that bell annoys the hell out of me.
Still the basic Stephenson design. He got it right.
I take it this steam loco runs on fuel oil instead of coal

How did this engine get from the Aberdeen area to where it is now?
