    Hola Dr. Evans. I've been watching your lessons since "Que hora es" series, your way of teaching is very efficient is really inspiring. My native language is Russian, but since I know a bit English, I tried your lessons. As for now, I like your Spanish lessons much more than ones from my native language speakers. I don't know what is wrong with me, but I guess that's at least an indication of your talent. Thank you for your work one's more time.

    "My head hurts" is "Me duele la cabeza" but what if we wanted to say "I hurt my head" (or whatever body part)? For example, if you wanted to say, "I hurt my head when I fell down the stairs" it would tell the doctor something about why your head is hurting and it's not because of a migraine, hangover or whatever. So would you say, "Duelo mi cabeza cuando..." (whatever the rest is)? Or would it be more like "Me duele la cabeze porque [I fell down the stairs]"?

  • @Keithjsullivan
    @Keithjsullivan 4 года назад +2

    Hi Danny, a quick couple of questions, one relating to LT30 and then a general question. 'Her arm hurts' - Before you displayed the answer I thought 'La duele el brazo', but the answer was 'Le duele el brazo', question - why is it 'Le duele' and not 'La duele' - you were talking about 'her'. 2nd question, question marks, why two question marks and why is the first upside down (which I can never draw)?

    • @TheLanguageTutor
      @TheLanguageTutor  4 года назад

      Hi Keith! If it was displayed as "La duele" it was a mistake (I'll go back and look at that). You use "le" because it's showing the verb (duele) is being done to him or her. "Le" goes with "him" or "her" or "usted" to show who the verb is being done to. If you said, "La duele el brazo" it would mean "it hurts the arm." Lo and La are direct object pronouns, not indirect. I hope that helps.

    • @Keithjsullivan
      @Keithjsullivan 4 года назад

      @@TheLanguageTutor Hi, thanks for your reply, to clarify my point, since 'her' is by definition feminine, I wondered whether Le should become 'La' because you are referring to her/a woman. Your answer Le 'is being done to him or her' answers my point. My secondary question about two ? marks, at front and back of a question. Why does Spanish have a ? in front of a question?

    Hello! Thank you so much for your lessons! I have question. Isn't 'Our' means nuestro according to your previous lessons? In this lesson, Our feet hurts is mentioned as Nos duelen los pies. Could you please calrify? Thank you!

    • @ankitgauba8905
      @ankitgauba8905 4 года назад +4

      Nuestro is a possessive pronoun. It tells the object is ours. For example, you'll use it when you say our names are... Nuestro nombres son...
      But this is an indirect object pronoun. It means something is done to you. For example, our feet hurt would be we have pain of the feet. The pain of feet is being done to us.
      Hope this helps!

    Hi Danny I've been amazed and impressed by the effectiveness of your teaching methods in Spanish "thank you". Tengo una pregunta - in this lesson you end with Nos duelen los pies - is the'los' a mistake? Should it be les pies? It's confused me.

    • @sundayt8541
      @sundayt8541 3 года назад

      The "pie" is a masculine noun, so the "los" is correct. (since plural form of "le" is "los", not "les")

    I have a few questions that's not necessarily related to the above but I've always wondered, is it considered grammatically incorrect to not include a question mark at the beginning of questions when written in spanish? & Also is there any particular reason it's an upside down question mark? Is this just tied to Spanish or any other languages?
    As always, excellent video. Working my way through them slowly but surely. Keep up the great work, thank you so much. It's helping me MASSIVELY.

    Also, in Spain, if you want a person to know that something hurts you, you simply say: AH, OSTIA or AH, COÑO. And there they understand you.
    But be careful because if those who listen to you do not understand the context well, they can understand that something is bothering you or that you have just understood something.
