    I love that you give permission to not be tethered to a single style’s “rules.”
    I heard this on your Japandi video, as well.
    It”s refreshing to hear!

    In USA, specially northern California, subway tiles are done already.....when everybody do the same subway, it doesn't look special anymore.

      Subway tiles aren't meant to look special. That's sort of the point- they just blend into the space and create a blank slate for other accents and finishes to take center stage/become the focal point.

    Shaker door, thanks, I want to learn the names of different parts so that I can explain to the shop people what I want.

    Hello! I really, really need your advice please. I'm going for classic /neutral kitchen remodel. I have ridgid gray vynil floor. What color cabinets should I do that goes with gray floor? ( I have agreeable gray walls) thanks.

    All so far (halfway through video) are too modern/contemporary to be considered classic to me. The caption on one of my muse photos says “Wonderful rooms look as if they might have been done 100 years ago or yesterday.” (Quote by designer Jeri Barchilon DeSouza). That to me is the quintessential definition of classic design. It usually also follows the design of the house it’s in.

      I guess that's just the difference in the perceived definition of the word "classic". Classic, here, really means "timeless" -- something that won't become "outdated". Subway tiles, shaker cabinets, penny tiles, black and white simplistic design, all those elements existed in the 1920's (many of the homes here still have their original kitchen with all of these elements). I guess I'm just confused on why you deem neutral colors and countertops, shaker cabinets, subway tiles etc too modern when they're literally in many of the 100+ yr old kitchens in my area (New England). They are classic design elements in America, at least, I'm unsure where you're coming from, so maybe that's the disconnect here, it may not be classic in your country? They have become trendy lately, but I think that's a symptom of fast fashion/design fatigue and the insane costs of renovation, owning, and upkeep these days -- people no longer want a trendy kitchen that's outdated in 5 years as they may not be able to afford to update it.

      @@adntigger71015 I’m in the US and yes the elements you name were done in the 1920’s, but the execution of the design is not like in the 20’s. There are some great design books by Marianne Cusato that address trim details, timeless design rules and ratios that compare getting it right to the all too common designs seen today that are just “off” unless you veer towards contemporary.

    Is it possible to get that classic look using IKEA cabinets with custom doors?

    • @hsdesignstudio
      @hsdesignstudio  2 года назад +1

      Definitely- but keep in mind its not only about the cabinets. All of those other details would need to be incorporated as well.

      @@hsdesignstudio Thanks, really impressed with your videos, thinking about an IKEA kitchen but wanted that classic custom look as well. Do you design a lot of IKEA kitchens?

    • @hsdesignstudio
      @hsdesignstudio  2 года назад +1

      @@queensmarine6506 The studio is about a 50/50 mix of IKEA vs. custom or semi-custom cabinets. That being said, a lot of the IKEA projects we design also include after market doors, as well as other features to help elevate the cabinets and overall design.
