This is such a beautiful painting. I love all the different colours that you used in her face, it was definitely worth all the extra work and even though some areas are more detailed and some areas are much looser it all works together so well.
Love it! Honestly,I love the faces, but what I really appreciate about your paintings, and admire is the apstract parts, especially in watercolor. And the colours. Can you do a video on the technical part in apstract parts and the way you choose your colours?
I love these videos Lioba, it's so wonderful to watch you bring these pieces to life! I was having a pretty rubbish day and it was really relaxing and inspirational to watch you work and listen to you chat ^_^ you are so honest and nice, this really made me feel a bit better about everything. Thank you!
For years I have been scared of using watercolour - I think because I've always seen it as not very controllable (& I like to feel in control of my art lol) But you have really inspired me to try it, thank you so much for that - I'm really enjoying all of your videos :-) x
What a coincidence, the sizing problem was exactly what I experienced recently :D Amazing work as always, love her face SO much :) Please tell us about using the watercolor pen brush for the details! Also, Arches is pronounced like the bad word for booty in German with a soft ending ;)
I love your content Lioba, but I'm almost sure that your method with color pencils and watercolor is not archival, I see that you apply first watercolor, and then you layer your color pencils, that's ok, that's archival, the problem comes when you apply some times watercolour or gouache on top or touching the area where you have coloured with pencils, and because of the waxes of the pencils, that other layers on top will with time peel, maybe if you coat your paintings with varnish it won't happen, but if not, those layers, like in the shoulder strap in your painting will dissapear. That is why it is important that you apply watercolor and gouache first and at the very last color pencils, and I wouldn't use gouache too, because they are not archival, that's why they are for designers. It is only a critique for you to improve, hope you understand my concern.
Thank you so much for your help, this is so valuable! I varnish every painting with watercolor or pastel fixative (3 - 5 coats) so that it should prevent peeling! Do you know any resource though where I can learn more about archival methods or did you learn that at artschool? Thank you again!
ne, academy is not for me in this matter, some common sources I will mention for this matter about archival results and colored pencils are: Lachri's video about white lines over colored pencils ruclips.net/video/9H3hOHx-qZ8/видео.html ,and in her livestream videos, she clarifies a lot about archival results with colored pencils, the spin doctor's video about how to use gouche ruclips.net/video/wamXvGZoXGY/видео.html , and this book that Teo Yi Chie recommends in this video for general concepts for colored pencil techniques ruclips.net/video/Udbg9PYc5oU/видео.html By no means I'm trying to be spamy or pretentious, it is just difficult to express a constructive criticism or to share sources, I admire your artwork and your style Lioba, you are an excellent artist. Thank you too for your awesome videos! :)
Don't worry! I don't read your comment as criticism at all! I find it super helpful and necessary. I don't take it for granted if people help me so I appreciate your support a lot! In the case, my paintings aren't archival, well you might have even saved me here! ;P Thank you so much for the video links and resources I'll check them out!
The atmosphere of this painting is fantastic, and I love the use of colour in her face. I couldn’t stop gazing at her.
The contrast between the hair and the face is amazing! One is so thin another is thick!
Love it!

It is so hard to leave my painting loose. I feel the need to paint everything. Sometimes the beauty is in what isn't defined. Love your work.
