Well spoken Jeff and every word true. I never thought that I would be ashamed of my own country but I am sickened by the continuous lies, deceit and corruption served up daily by our parliament and main stream media. Having lived and worked in the Soviet Union I fully agree with your assessment of Russian people who would kill you with kindness rather than do you harm. Russia will prevail just as truth will prevail so keep strong, our thoughts are with you at this sad time.

It hurts me to see the way the US and Western Europe treated the USSR during, before, and especially after WW2...The entire world owed the Soviet Union and Russia an unpayable debt and how did the West repay them? By spitting in their face. Utterly disgraceful. And that's why these following lines in the Soviet Anthem always hit me especially hard.
We fought for the future, destroyed the invaders
And brought to our homeland the laurels of fame
Our glory will live in the memory of nations
And all generations will honor her name
My sympathies today, along with all other decent human beings is with the Russian people and the just cause they fought for in ww2, a cause that their children must unfortunately fight again today.

It might comfort you some to get your facts right. Stalin himself said that the USSR would not have survived the German invasion if the USA had not stepped in with its Lend-Lease program and gave the USSR untold (and largely unpaid back) aid, military and agricultural, both crucial to Soviet defence and counteroffensive. This Western aid came despite the fact that the USSR sat on the sidelines of this war for nearly two years while Britain took on Germany virtually alone, with no military pressure from the Eastern Front (the USSR). The USSR suffered terribly, of course, but much of it was self-inflicted due to Stalin's paranoia and incompetence.
