It's only after he passed that I'm realizing how much more EVH I should know by now. Thanks for helping me catch up Chris! RIP.
thanks SOLO OF VAN HALEN HAS REALLY SOMETYHING OF BEAUTYFULL
I'm glad I searched around for a person that knows how to teach and play. I found it here! Thank you!
thank you so much man this is my first van halen's solo!
I enjoyed the way you showed the phrasing in human speed not just playing the notes. evh was a monster.
I'm 61, never learned this one (but if I make my wedding band learn this song I'd better deliver.) Gonna make the drummer sing this one. I'm playing the Bbm arpeggio at the 13th fret, but I'm lazy, and it puts me in position to finish it off. Pretty useful, man. Thanks.
Your instructions assume the perfect level of baseline knowledge. So many people teach each note without explaining theory.

Daaaaamn, that’s a fine looking shred machine! And the guitar looks great as well 😉
Lol
Great lesson. You nailed Eddie’s phrasing.
His phrasing is nuts.
this is a very creative solo! thank you for making the impossible become possible!
Thanks a lot for the video, Chris. You made it very clear to understand. Best regards.
Congrats on achieving to the level that you have, Chris. I've been watching loads of guitar tutorials on youtube of late and you, Sir......are numeral uno. Thanks for helping us! Your Ride The Lightning is EPIC!
I am 64 years old I've learned to eruption 20 years ago and I'm still playing Eddie's stuff and he's playing in heaven right now your friend that you didn't know God bless
Learning to play jump right now not bad at 64 years of age
Loved this lesson. Easy to follow and spot on... cheers.
Great job playing this solo and a great job of teaching and explaining!
I love when he says and we’re jumping to this string, the puns keep coming
The best explained ever! You made this hard solo available. Thanks buddy!
Great Lesson, thank you so much.

Good progress 🙂 and perfection and well explained thank you
Thank you it has given me a good understanding of tapping
You are Awesome Bro🎸 Thanks for the right notes 🙏
Ive learned it in standard tuning as well. After a huge debate somewhere online they all agreed its in standard 👍 Great lesson as usual.
It was so annoying. It was a massive puzzle. There's a little riff in the last 20 seconds that has an open g. Pretty sure
Chris Zoupa I dont know if you are being ironic or not 😂 my english is limited. This version sounds good, its all that matters to me. Have a great day man 👍
Really well explained. Making the unplayable-sounding playable.
thanks heaps for the video, some fly past, you broke it down real nice, appreciated
Always seemed logical to me that because the progression is in Bflat, EVH would have used a downtuned (Eflat) guitar to play the solo in one of his favorite positions/keys: 7th/B minor.
His B minor licks sounded in Bflat minor.
Great playing and video.
Thanks man..It's pretty clear lesson...
Cheers! from Central America. Guatemala City.
Dude you nailed it. My band covers this song and I sweat every time 🤣
I think sweating over this is totally acceptable bro
I jumped from my bed to listen to this!! Thanks Chris! :3
Great lesson. Thanks for help. Now I just got to get it up to speed my band wants to do this one.
Mr Zoupa is the man
Great lesson, great guitar color
Very clear. Thank you.
About time lol. Thanks for redoing this wonderful solo!
Chris, excellent lesson! and thanks for clarifying the tuning! So many others have it wrong.
Nice vid. Sounds amazing
Always stoked when you upload a video!
Thanks for the video...the solo sounds quite right except maybe for that note at the end of the tapping section... there's a deep downward bend on the fifth string at the sixth fret...🙂
You're the best Chris!
Wow chris! That was cool!!! Thanks Man! Wow
Such a great solos-Van Halen was so far ahead of all those rock players
I have to disagree. Yeah chris is a great teacher, eddie is a great player and theres no doubting his talent but think this solo is awful. Sounds like a soulless non medlodic mess and just doesnt suit the song at all. Just shredding for the sake of shredding.
xWILZTAx Lol. Hate to do it but I'm gonna take the bait. Sounds to me like you've never even listened to the song and are among the stuck up "shred = no emotion" dickholes of the internet. This is a classic 80's EVH solo that suits the song perfectly (it's a pop rock song called Jump, so seriously?) and it actually is an awesome solo regardless. Stop whining and go practice some more. Cheers
xWILZTAx just because you can’t hear it does not mean it is not there! This solo is one of the top pop solos of all time
Agree with wiltz, solo has nithing to do with song, shred for shreds sake
@xWILZTAx
Meh feeling is subjective...
Technique isn't!
Thanks man!
You Rock!!!🤟

Eternal Rest- A7X Pls Criss, your videos are awesome!
Thanks a lot bro!
Chris the chicken soup zoupa. Great lesson!
Good lesson as usual, Chris! Following you for years. For me , the endind lick is easier: 15,16,18th frets for A, D , G and B strings ( in spite of your exception 15,17,18th fret on G string)
Thank you my dude. I was having trouble with the tapping part
MAESTROOOOO UNICO OK MAGIKKKK
Thank you! :)
Couple questions, just curious.
When I learned this song about 6 months ago, I found it easiest playing a half-step down in B minor for the solo. Still sounds the same, I just found it easier to visualize B minor opposed to Bb.
On that note, given album is in C and live in D, do you think Eddie would tune up/down or shift positions on the neck?
