I doubt it. I’ve been shot at before and been in some pretty tight scrapes. The fear never goes away, but you learn after the first time to trust your training and your guys and you’ll make it through.
Why would I be laughing? I care little for the Yankees and their government, but I have nothing but respect for those who would go near the gates of hell with straight backs.
Thanks. Honestly, I get kinda' sick and tired of people bashing the US all the time. I know we've made some mistakes, but we do try to help people around the world enjoy a better standard of living.
Friend, I was Russian soldier in Chechnya! There we fought DIRECTLY for our people, IN our country, but I agree with you when you say there is help being in Mid-East! Do not let them dragging you down!
They called somolians skinnies because many were skinny after the Somali civil war from 91 to 93 which is why the UN was there on a humanitarian mission Task force ranger for operation gothic serpent (the operation that lead to black hawk down) was there to take down Aidid's operation and dictatorship
All soliders who were involved this operation showed tons of courage even the ones who didn't fight alot did.So if you dont agree or if you think this was a funny opration because all the things that went wrong well your not going to make it very far
The troops on the ground showed remarkable skill and resilience. However, there were many mistakes made at every level. Soldiers neglected to bring spare ammunition or water, there was no backup prepared, and no heavy reinforcements. Every mistake made needs to be identified, analyzed, and corrected. In the proper setting, by the proper personnel, yes. But mistakes MUST be learned from, and MUST NOT be repeated.
whole operation was a big joke, troops on the ground showed tons of courage but also showed tons of disrespect for their enemy, for example not taking night vision or additional ammunition just because operation was supposed to take max 30 minutes, or that there was no backup in case of situation like this, whole operation was a joke, disrespect and fail at the planning point.
I studied this battle quite deeply. I hear of people calling it poor planning. That is partly true, yes. It goes with the saying "Don't assume: it makes an ASS out of yoU and ME." They assumed that the operation wouldn't last no more than an hour, so soldiers were told to leave the majority of their food, water, medicine, and night-vision equipment at base. When the Battle of Mogadishu took a turn for the worse, that came back to bite hard.
I've got a few former US soldier friends who served in Somalia and both Gulf Wars....I have a great respect for soldiers either way, no real care where their from and all that.
Coming from a soldier, War must be filled with blood and death, So it is the last thing we do after all the talks are done....But it is the soldiers blood and death that is the price of your words (We soldiers do not laugh at death because we see it all the time, our friends and boys and OUR enemies pay the price for others laughter)
Some people don't realize that allies is just a shortened version of alliance. he could just be confused about the terminology since many call it the allies vs axis nations of WW2. You are absolutely right though. the allies may have been fighting for a good cause but they also committed atrocities that many either choose to ignore or just don't know about.
I didn't know that, thanks for the info. That explains why they were so rabid . And no, I'm not calling them animals, it was just an observation on their behavior.
Some deserve more respect than others, but in the end, they all deserve some kind of respect... You mentioned the Nazis for example? Look up Egon Mayer and Franz Stigler. Both Nazi pilots who showed respect for their enemies, the first, engaged a P-47 and after running out of ammo and not having shot down the P-47 (Robert Johnson's) saluted him and flew away, the latter escorted a severely damaged B-17 to safety and became friend of the American pilot after the war. Every fallen deserves respect
I have deep respect for any soldier out there no matter which country he serves. It's the fact that they are used to satisfy the monetary needs of some few politicians and corporate bosses that really buggers me :) It's no coincidence that half of the bush administration were members of oil companies at the time the 2003 iraq invasion started, and also no coincidence that a lot of rare earths were found in afghanistan after the invasion (china has taps on 90% of that stuff ;) )
id like to add that nothing ever goes according to plan. helicopters happen to simply be a bunch of fast moving parts moving in unison and mathematically shouldn't even fly. The fact that there was a problem is not people effing up, you are not responsible for enemy action. and sometimes lady luck decides to sleep with everyone but you. i agree show some goddamn respect for people who gave their lives for each other.
+derek torres Should have given Marine Air Wings A-10's and let them drop ordnance on Somalia day and night until the skinnies were begging for mercy and then napalmed the mo-fos
Ghost 12, really where were the civies? From what I understand every fucker in Somalia had an AK...WOW so just slaughter Americans with impunity....yeah guess you liked Obama.....who bowed to terrorist fuckers. And who were the heartless pricks you desecrated the bodies of the American soldiers....yeah I am a heartless one because I don't genuflect to political correctness...
@@ukrainiansniper5916 You seriously need to get a grip or read a book. If anything Obama was opposed to relative isolationist politics, like Trump is, and therefore was keen on intervening or using force (by drones) on terrorists, specifically in Somalia. This has zero to do with political correctness, this is geopolitics, which have little to do with social issues that political correctness is often referred to.
Black Hawk Down is not an anti-war movie. Neither is it a movie glorifying the men on either side who were murdered. It simply tells the story in the way that it was told it happens.
If anything doesnt fit their beliefs or personal view, then its a "lie". Doesn't matter what the subject matter is, it's just how they see things. Being this is online and everyone is an "expert" its easy to see how and why peeps are a bit skeptical on any reply. Some peeps just dont like anyone telling them that they could be in error, or actually wrong!
@MilleniumEmpire Russians were given to take Berlin since they had suffered most of whole war, US and British forces were still outside of Berlin to make sure no german forces could escape.
Why is such a hate here ? The film isn't about any gulf war, it is about the failed attempt to capture a local warlords ministers in Mogadishu in 1993. The local warlord torpedoed the food help from the UN by firing on the civilians that came to get some food. Without intervention 300,000 people could have died. 20 US soldiers lost their lives there. Appreciate their sacrifice for the people of Somalia. Respect each other !
At first the UN mission was concentrated on humanitarian aid but later the UN and the USA intefered into the Somalian civil war and became a side of the war. The main cause of he conflict was not the killing of civillians but the political intervention of the UN mission into Somalia.
It was, but I understand it now that you explained it. "Fuck off death" would have been a better way of saying that, but it's perfectly okay to me now that I know what you were trying to say, since I share that same sentiment.
No need to be sorry I agree with you many Americans idolize war this is an undeniable truth but not all of us. The 'melting pot' of America doesn't just mean race but ideas and opinions
War is nor evil nor good. War is just a tool. Of course, there is still the fact that war is generally used for evil far more often and easily than for good. Doesn't make war evil by itself, though.
