Some trivia: people terrorize Azmodan is talking to Diablo inside Leah. This is why he says 'our brethren' and not 'my brethren.' The entire cutscene takes on new meaning when you take the dialog as meaning Azmodan understands Diablo's plan.
Regardless of what peoples opinions on the quality of game D3 is, I think we can all agree on the fact the quality of the cinematics across all departments is just amazing.
Her eyes leave me speachless. I have never seen so much emotion, clarity and realism in a CG human. They say eyes are windows to the soul, this is so good I can almost see it
+Matej Polyak Prime Evil is the ultimate outcome of all seven Evils combined, a.k.a what we fight in the High Heavens. Diablo, Mephisto and Baal are the Greater Evils, with Azmodan, Duriel, Andariel and Belial being the Lesser.
+Dark Alphadron Prime evil has two meanings, the plural form which is a reference to Baal, Mephisto and Diablo and the singular form which is the combined form of all the demon lords.
1:50 to 2:14 that was all the lore this game needed: Azmodan v Diablo and the player in the middle. No need for a stone, for Tyrael becoming human and well the rest of that trainwreck. Almost ten years later its sad to see they had it there, but they couldn't see it. I have faith the D4 team will scale things a bit back or at least turn it away from warcraftication.
@QuestionAllTheThings Yeah I definitely see Leah being a Diablo vessel, with the further twist probably being that Diablo has to be installed back in its place instead of Azmodan for some reason.
What's incredible about this cutscene is that on your first playthrough you feel like he's talking to you, he's quarreling with us. We're just smack talking each other. But on the second playthrough, it comes into perspective because you know what's going to happen. Azmodan wasn't talking to us, he was talking to Diablo- we're just insects caught between their gangwar. "You thought you were so clever, one by one our brethren fell into your trap." We set up no trap, and we did not seal all of them into the black soulstone (The trap) that has been Diablo and Adrias work, Diablo being Leah Azmodan had to be speaking directly to him talking smack about his long game isn't gonna work, that Azmodan won't be caught and that he, not Diablo, is going to be the Prime Evil. This was two brothers arguing with each other.
What I like best about it is the way the power dynamic is reversed when you come back to this. Asmodan is the little sibling trying to stand up to the big sibling.
Yep back here, interesting to understand Leah was basically Diablo from the get go, already influenced by his thoughts. All Adria did was speed up the process. But yes D3 amazing trailer for it's time. D4 almost too realistic yes.
@baalzor Also Bliz north was in charge since after LOD till 2005 when the project got almost fully scrapped and they brought in a new team. so THIS game was mostly worked on from '05 till now. only a few things were kept apparently.
Try watching this trailer again with the perspective of Leah unwittingly housing part of Diablo's soul. It give's Azmodan's monologue a bit more weight.
i'm about to get it aww yeah i'm 4 years late :) took me 5 years with starcraft 2, i like to get games very late. you know what they say, better late than never :)
It would be cool if in D4 they make references to Leah and Deckard. Devs could make us find Deckard's diary entries of why he was silent of Leah's true problem.
Gotta revist this now and then (especially after a good win with him in HotS) - it's kind of a shame he's such a pushover as a boss, as this intro is so badass!
@thekayakrider1 It says in the description of this video, as part of the first sentence, "as Deckard Cain's niece, Leah, struggles to make sense of her uncle's mysterious and disturbing notations..." Perhaps a plot device in the game will reveal Leah to be Cain's daughter?
Okay now! I want someone to answer me why Tyrael didn't found out that Diablo is inside Leah? Just like Azmodan did. He said that their brethren fell into Diablo's trap. The trap is the black soulstone, then why Tyrael didn't feel it somehow? After his sacrilege we can see he still have some angleic powers that shows to Leah what is happened to him.
Leah just doesn't fit in a game like Diablo, she's more like a disney character. If D3 storyline and atmosphere were more like D2 it would be so damn good. Too bad they just blew it.
American game trailer reminds of their soldier in Iraq, speaking softly to innocent girl first, then striking brutally and causing them to scream and cry
@geostigmaX9 no diablo 3 will have a little slideshow that tells you the story playing whilst you install the game it will get you up to date on the story but i recommend reading up on diablo 1/2 lore if you are interested, its a great universe!
Yes. The Primes Evils are Diablo (Lord of Terror), Mephisto (Lord of Hatred) and Baal (Lord of Destruction). They're the 3 highest seats you see at 1:26, the center one is Diablo since he's the strongest. The Lesser Evils are the other 4 seats, Azmodan (Lord of Sin), Belial (Lies), Duriel (Pain), Andariel (Anguish). All 7 of them were actually one being, a dragon with 7 heads, Tathamet, before the creation of hell, heaven and the universe along with Anu (from whom the Archangels came).
@PcGamer4ever1 I just checked the wiki, she is Deckard Cain's adopted daughter, which means my previous suspicions about her being the daughter of Aidan could still be true.
She was adopted. Her mother was the witch Adria and I'm guessing her father was the warrior class who saved Tristram in Diablo 1/Dark wanderer from Diablo2. They hint around at it in the Beta.
@Banefane Nope. The one you see on the movie is Azmodan - Lord Of Sin. (pan grzechu). But don't worry, they said that Diablo going to be one of the Bosses in the game such like Azmodan. They both on of toughes Bosses in the game :)
can someone please answer: im really amazed by this cinematic, and was wondering whether i'd need to play diablo 1&2 to get the story of 3? :/ this is the first time ive ever heard of diablo.
Maybe someone else can finish this theory for me, as I'm not the most knowledgeable on Diablo lore admittedly, When Leah first enters the vision with Azmodan, you can see a total of 7 thrones; 1 red one in the center (which I assume represents the prime evil), and 6 other thrones (3 on either side, the lesser evils). Only 3 of those 6 thrones have entities on them that glare at Leah, I'm assuming these are the evils that are captured in the soul stone already? just wanting some clarification
You can also see some distinct features of the 3 entities on the thrones that could help identify them, one with a sort of frill, another with 2 distinct backward curving horns, and the last with 6 eyes
@DjinnGuru Seems like a good case. Though you may be right, considering that Baal had already corrupted the Worldstone when Tyrael have destroyed it. It is possible that Baal has reconstructed Mephisto and Diablo's soul, and of course, manages to leave some of Baal's also and just simply scattered the composed soulstone unnoticed by Tyrael. It is also possible that it could BE the Black Soulstone that we see here is the works of Baal. Just a theory.
Though I am not playing a barbarian and am therefore not well informed on his backstory, I do know that Azmodan's forces are coming out of Mt. Arreat (the location featured at the end of Diablo II: Lord of Destruction). And seeing that this location was also home to barbarians (although I'm not sure if it was the home to ALL the barbarians or just some of the barbarians) I think it's safe to assume the mountain here and the mountain in the barbarian's back story are, in fact, one and the same.
Wait why is he not a prime evil?! He was the last to get trapped in soulstone and is the Lord of sin. Also has most badass cinamatic ever! Also really compelling voice. All I know is Diablo and his bros need to take a trip to the black soulstone and lat azmodan lead he'll forever. .
the thing is, their CG team takes nearly a year to finish even a 3 minute cinematic, they've answered that very question before on a BTS dvd, i think it was for cataclysm, and they said they would LOVE to, but the problem is it would take them years and year to complete it, and by time they do, the technology likely would have improved =/ but i agree, i wish they could
THERE ARE NO BETA KEYS! If you get into the beta, it will show up in your battle.net account where you simply download the client. No keys involved. (the exception being if you win it in a contest)
@fluke01 I just looked back through the Book of Cain and I take back what I said; in the book, Deckard Cain and Aidria(Leah's mother) worked together for a short time, but it also said she was the only one who could comfort Aidan(the dark wanderer) after the defeat of Diablo and that they spent a lot of nights behind closed doors. So Leah's father could have been the possessed Aidan.
there used to be a different end to this cinematic on youtube, the woman singing in the end when the D3 logo pops off was completely different, and way better in my opinion. they must have changed that after beta
Anyone who's played a barb. notice that his backstory features his home being destroyed by a volcano (And Azmodan's forces are coming from a "shattered mountain")?
Wonder how long before actual ingame graphics will look as good as this cinematic cutscene (ye they close, but the (hair/cloth/animation physics/reflections etc etc are all way behind than cgi).
I'd love to see this trailer. Unfortunately, it won't play. I've reported this to RUclips, (not the first time, same issue six months ago), and it still is not fixed.
Leah daughter of Adria & Aidan who is possessed by diablo, so will be cool to find out if some of diablos soul is in Leah somehow. Aidan is the hero from D1 if you were wondering.
One slight correction, Diablo is not the strongest. In fact we have no idea who is the strongest out of the prime evils. Baal has not shown his powers at all (only very slightly in LoD). But we may assume Diablo is the most creative one, because Cain himself said so.
And after Act 3 you realise Azmodan was not talking directly to Leah, but to Diablo himself.
Tommy1493 i do not think so. And besides only i can see the future🐽
Well, Azmodan clearly say "our brethren" instead of "my brethren"...
Iove it
Mind....blooooown...
Then after Act 4 you realize same difference lol. Leah is what Adrian was in D1, Dark wanderer in D2, just a pawn/vessel. Sad, but that's Diablo!
Some trivia: people terrorize Azmodan is talking to Diablo inside Leah.
This is why he says 'our brethren' and not 'my brethren.' The entire cutscene takes on new meaning when you take the dialog as meaning Azmodan understands Diablo's plan.
That's what makes this trailer so epic.
lol i didn't knew that
s4videos azmodan sounds way better than diablo
No... Diablo is the primal evil, and he will always be
s4videos
Regardless of what peoples opinions on the quality of game D3 is, I think we can all agree on the fact the quality of the cinematics across all departments is just amazing.
yes i feel like only now like just now have we actually reached this level of quaility where this could be considered ingame graphics.
Blizzard was always good with this stuff.
It's what happens when you give talented people time.
Her eyes leave me speachless. I have never seen so much emotion, clarity and realism in a CG human. They say eyes are windows to the soul, this is so good I can almost see it
Azmodan talking to Diablo himself. Such a classic
Azmodan is the best demon of Diablo and this cinematic explains very well why.
Ezorde arrogant nephalem
Chase Warren Wow, that's a weird way to say, "I agree completely".
Agreed
I disagree.
@@ilikenougat8892 Too bad the dood takes 30 seconds to kill.

Azmodan: Fat brother
Diablo: Steroid brother
well Azmodan is not a prime evil. Prime evils are Diablo , Mephisto , Baal

You know I think Leah was being warned but it went over her head. As you see the pages in the book and the reality of what happened to Leah. 0:39
I believe Leah will have a really important role in the following Diablo games. I have no doubt.
that comment didnt age well
Ok! Hands down, those designs look freakin awesome, and they are wonderfully voiced too!
OMG I can almost see her skin pores!
Really really beautiful!, congrats to you, Blizzard haha

If there isnt an cinematic for each act im gonna cry all diablo cinematics are so fucking good!
Who is here after seeing Diablo 4 trailer? Did graphics improved too much or art direction?
These cinematics could be made today. Blizzard always had good cinematics. However I think that the D4 humans are a bit cartoony.
D4 cinematic was better obv
@@mattpet7913 yeah, overall it better. One of the best cinematic they have made.

Oh my god the skin texture is amazing. Blizzard really nailed this one
This is what happened to Mount doom after lord of the rings, good job Frodo
Watch the video again in that context. Instead of Azmodan speaking to Leah, see it as him speaking to Diablo in her lying dormant.
Azmodan is so cute,he has a pair of little hoops on his nipples.:D
I just hope that at the end of this adventure my character doesn't stick a stone to his forehead :D

Lucky you, you don't have to deal with the myriad of problems they've fixed since launch.
You're gonna get a very good game now that the endgame is vastly improved since launch
Get Zack Snyder to direct this. His visual style would be perfect for it.
