When you calibration the sand cone apparatus for the W3 it should be performed over the base plate to account for the small volume that is represented by the thickness of the plate. Its a small value but can make a big difference in the final value.
(wt. of wet soil - wt. of dry soil)/ (volume of hole) = moist unit wt.??? I think it should be (wt. of evaporating dish with wet soil - wt. of evaporating dish)/ (vol. of hole) = moist unit wt.
Finding the moist density of soil you use a wrong calculation dear.. W7-W8 is the amount of water in the soil ...you can get moist density by W7/V and dry density by W8/V
Actually, your point is right. However, the weight of the evaporating dish must be subtracted. Hence, moist unit weight (not density) is (W7-W6)/V, and dry unit weight is (W8-W6)/V.

sorry to correct you man... the cone is lying on the soil not on the base plate...
What is the temperature of the oven in drying the soil within 24 hrs?
How come you didn't multiply the mass by gravity to get kn/cube meter since weight kn/m^3 and mass kg/m^3 is different?
He tell unit weight but actually it's density
I do not miss doing sand cone tests, I always felt that I was doing lab testing in the field with the amount of equipment need for the test.

Andrian Abanilla noticed this too. Also, kg/m3 denotes the density of the sample. Very informative with the procedures tho.
wt. of wet soil - wt. of dry soil/volume of hole = wt of water per 1m³
That's it..Not "moist unit wt of soil"
You're right Andrian Abanilla
Yup u r correct
Hallo, can you tell me what the mean of W3- Wt?

sir can you tell me how you make this video
THIS HELPED ME TO UNDERSTAND WHY NUCLEAR GAUGES ARE SO POPULAR IN NA
At the time of calibration , sand should be poured in to the mold exactly like the way you perform in the field for a more accurate result.
This video saved my marriage!
how's your marriage going?
very useful video Sir.....
@5.00 i think The Moist Unit Wt. of the soil shall be (W7-W6)/V2
Are u sure?? W6 is dish(plate)
same observation bro....
Btw guys what the mean of" W3- Wt. Of sand cone assembly full of sand"
Exactly
Very Useful & Clear Thank You!
did anyone notice that the V2 calculated by (W3-W5-Wc)/dry density of sand, is actually the volume of the hole plus the volume of the cone?!!!!
No. The V2 is the volume of the hole after digging 15-20 cm.
Oh anyone please tell me what the meaning of
WC?
Water content
3:31 Weight of a coneful of sand
Wt of sand required to fill the sand cone
good illustration
Hi, Nice video can you please share excel sheet
Very useful
Kindly upload also speedy calibration
very useful video
OK.l working everyday.thank.
Thanks you sir
Ini bang cara olah data sand cone

HOW DO I GET V1= .00095???
