Out of the Blue: Molly O'Mahony

Today in ICC Digital’s “Out Of The Blue, (Look What We’ve Found For You..)”, we bring you a fast rising star in Ireland’s music scene, Singer Songwriter musical artist, Molly O’Mahony.
Here Molly sings her beautiful rendition of the song ‘You Are Mine’, written by another wonderful Irish female Singer Songwriter, Wallis Bird.
Molly O’Mahony has spent the past decade writing and performing with art-folk group ‘Mongoose’, who have been a fixture of the Irish music scene since their formation in 2012. The band have released two albums and two EPS in that time and have shared stages with the likes of Glen Hansard, Mary Coughlan and Eddi Reader.
Molly returned to her family home in West Cork in March of last year, along with her four siblings, two of whom are also musicians. Against the backdrop of the unfolding pandemic, she began work on her debut solo album. Alongside her own work, she kept a musical diary throughout the year, covering songs which inspired her process, of which this song by Wallis Bird is one of them.
This is what Molly says about her work:
“My main concern as an artist is with feeling the world around me in all its delicate complexity and giving voice to those feelings and stirrings of the human condition which are deep and nuanced, and often nebulous. I follow in the tradition of Joni Mitchell, who through dissecting the deeply personal, tapped into that which is universal and unifying.”
