I always think of waaagh as the feeling you have when you and the lads are about to board the bus on the way to see Chelsea meet Tottenham. You and the lads are already singing something about the beatdown you're going to give the Tottenham lads.

Orks do not have any enemies, they only have targets. They don't have any deep, philosophical convictions, they don't dislike, or hate. They just fight. Ork violence is pure and unsullied by politics or religion. They simply fight because you are there. I like Orks.

I know it's a long shot and it's just my own personal hypothesis i have no lore to reference specifically. But maybe this whole genetic/psychic connection Orks have for tech is really just a trial and error experience. Maybe orks are proficient at times because they use a redundancy of cause and affect experimentation. The Mechanicum is so riddled with concious superstitious tradition when it comes to tech. I feel like the Orks experience science and advancement without moral, ethical or spiritual qualms, tied with the fact they grow so fast, maybe there is a conscious mind part that advances fast as well. I'm not saying they are brilliant or anything, just that without superstitious restrictions and a fast adaptation plus the Orks excitability for things that go BOOM, maybe their proficiency really is normal, and not as magical as is viewed by the Mars Cults. Just my personal ideas.
Edit: Safety, Orks also don't really put a minute of thought into safety procedures on any level.
Edit 2: The Orks could just be the stop gap the old ones needed while the waited the long years for the Eldar to advance. The Old Ones created the Orks to fill war fronts and advance millennium of war tech within a single generation. I know this is just my own thinking. But maybe the brilliance of the Old Ones creating the Orks was creating a war species that would advance millennium in war tech in a single generation or two. And not so much the magical imaterium.

I definitely agree with edit 2. The Orks are by definition the plug and play warrior race. Put them in a place, they multiply faster than almost anything else. They know nothing but an insatiable desire to fight, to the extent that odds, tactics and even common sense don't matter at all. On the other hand, the eldar can take forever to do something.

One quirk about the intuitive ork technological skill is that it can't be taught and preserved. There are no ork apprentices or ork teachers. One ork dok literally can't put words on what they do when they install bionics into the brain of another ork. They're born with that understanding, certain things might just "click" later in an ork's life.
Orks don't advance a lot. They make and re-make the same basic implements and even the same advanced tools. They don't invent new shootas or new gargants or new killa kans. They have the potential to build a teleporter, they've potentially always had it and never had to invent it.
In Gorkamorka it was a dice toss if a mek did the right job. There was a 50% chance that the fellows at the mek shop got bored or lost track and installed something else, broke something or just never started working.

In the beast arises they pin down the part of the ork brain that is affected by waaagh energy. They also learn a lot of other things regarding orks technology. Essentially the Imperium teleports of fkn Ork Moon out of the solar system. Many people did not like the Beast arises series however I did regardless of the amount of WTF moments. Like chaos and Imperium joining forces to fight orks...

Too bad they probably forgot all about it in the remaining 8000 years after it, lol. I kinda liked the series but I didn't really like some of the inconsistencies. Also, freaking Vulkan was a throwaway character in that series.
