    I set my first gopher trap today using Easy Set gopher traps. I hope I catch this critter as it has done so much damage. I guess I have to become an expert at this. Thanks again for this video.

    It’s helpful to see you do the process. I’ve been battling the little beasts for a few years and had to figure it out on my own. I also battle rock squirrels that dig holes and destroy my garden but they are much smarter and craftier than pocket gophers and require a different type of trapping and disposal.

      Appreciate that. I've found that the process is part of the effectiveness, it took me a while to figure out the best way to use these traps, and getting to know the gopher behavior a bit.

    My theory is that other Gphers repurpose tunnels. If you put a dead Gopher in it, other gophers will avoid it and dig new Tunnels Which they Probably do anyway. maybe just by burying the golfer. You can avoid some new tunnels.

    Does this work with moles too?

    • @FreePlantsForever
      @FreePlantsForever  Год назад +1

      I believe it does, although their holes are often much shallower so the trap may not be as effective.

    Thank you for the video, info, and yes the best way is to trap-kill them. Do not worry about killing one or two of the billion on the planet. You do not want to use sonic, smoke, pellets, or other wacky items trust me. These Victor traps do the job! On future videos a tripod would be easy to set up leaving you with two hands to do things. On the gopher wire is a must unless you just want to burry the trapped gopher as-is however, use a small stake and it won't pull or run your wire deep underground. (Unless you just want it dead then use no wire, check it, if trapped burry it on the spot and lose your trap - most will rust away after many years)

    Great video! The massive glasses though, are pretty distracting when 30% of the screen is a reflection of what is behind the camera.

    Do you need to clean the traps? For rats, I never reuse a trap.

      I usually do wipe them down so that they don't have a scent for the next time I set it.

    You have to cover the whole back up after setting the trap, so they won’t see sunlight

    • @darinthune6728
      @darinthune6728 Месяц назад +2

      You don’t need to cover the hole back up. The gopher sees light and wants to cover the entrance back up, they go to push dirt out (the mound) and the trap gets them.

    Her video while unedited literally drive people towards a better solution. These inline traps take forever to set. This video while lengthy, excessively dry, rambling and painful to watch is the process in its odious reality. These inline traps are junk.

      I find these traps work great for me... and there's this cool trick on RUclips if there's a video you don't like, it's called the "Next" button. I prefer to use that over making negative comments, but I also like the way comments, both negative and positive, create engagement on my videos, so it's all good.

      100% disagree. I’m a very handy diy type of person, but trapping gophers can be difficult and confusing. I very much appreciate the detail in this video and feel much more confident in taking on the my gopher problem thanks to it

      You can put chicken wire down underneath your beds. 2 Layers and stagger them to make holes smaller in case babies can get through. Should last you a good 10 years. I've heard that the plastic coated chicken wire is not as good as the straight galvanized.

    Cat shit?😂😂 iv heard a lot of methods but nothing like that wtf? lol. Look into the trapline mole traps they are the absolute best for moles. Get the DK1 desth clutch for gophers you won’t regret it. Iv owned a trapping business going on 17 years and worked for the Oklahoma department of agriculture for many years trapping.
