So happy for you all. I lost a baby shortly after labor at 41 weeks due to a birth injury and it was a living nightmare. I usually avoid birth stories because mine are traumatic but it was heart warming to hear your experience, and Im so glad he made it safely and you are all well.

Decades ago when my own babies were born, my mantra was, “ This is MY birthing experience. I will only have this experience relatively few times. I want it to happen MY way.” It worked out well for me…and for you too! I loved hearing your story and Bear is so precious.
I've never wanted kids and won't be having any but as an anthropologist I love listening to birth stories. You two are incredible! Thank you for sharing.

My first time giving birth was so painful, that I was crying for fear as we decided for a sibling. The second birth wasn't that painful at all. But still for me 2 are enough. As the second didn't let us sleep for almost 3 years.
I can't imagine how you manage that work together with the children.

Wow! Wonderful story. I could tell how much you both appreciated this doctor. He sounds like the doctor I had for my birth. She was also the on call doctor.
Just had my 4th... there's so much you forget between births about birth, but also so much your body remebers. It's wild! By the time I actually deliver and then the post birth contractions get there, I'm such a wimp (even after 4 unmedicated births) that I request ibuprofen immediately lol. Your doctor sounds a lot like mine and it makes such a world of difference to have a provider who believes in your body's ability to birth while still diligently watching to help prevent any emergencies. Congratulations on your newest addition!

Congratulation Becky and Cam... and welcome to the world little Squish Bear 😊. I had to accompany a friend who was in labour to the hospital once. When we were in the room, there was a chart called "Dilation" on the wall. Well, not having had kids myself, I said to my friend (with the nurse also in the room) 'how can pupils dilate that much? It's impossible, unless you're a freak'. When said friend and nurse had stopped laughing so hard, the nurse explained it to me. I nearly passed out - no joke! And, yes, I was very young at the time! 🤣🤣 Pretty sure, all that laughing helped induce the baby 😂

Congratulations!!!!! We had our 4th baby 3months ago. I must never wait until my water breaks, because it has always only broken during my first 2 pushes😅. Baby had a little hat of amniotic sac still on his head.❤ I've always had fast labours and fast pushing stages (18min, 12min, 12 min) but this one was out in 6min after my water broke.

I love birth stories, I treasure mine. Every one is its own special moment in time.
The doctor wasn't there for my 5th child, he was down the hall teaching a birthing class and didn't hear the page. He was so embarrassed he didn't charge us for the delivery.
Congratulations to all of you. I'm so glad you could experience such guidance on how to go with delivering the baby. Here we get the guidance of the midwife in the hospital. 3 of my 4 children were born with the midwife and 1 with the doctor present who was also asome in guiding me when she was born with the behind first. It was a natural birth as well , and this 34 years ago ❤

HalleluYah!! 🎉 Congratulations, yalls courage brings much healing and inspiration . We had successful home delivery nearly 5 yrs ago with dula and pregnant nurse who couldnt make it but gave advice over the phone concerning placenta. YAH brought life ! It was an experience for us all. Stay courageous, and big thanks for sharing yalls family journey 😊
I think God helps us forget birth because it is a painful experience. But a beautiful and joyful occasion. So glad everything went well for y'all. Beautiful baby. So glad you have a supportive husband. My husband also calmed me down. I miss his touch.

Oh mama! The family expectation of jumping back in… I had seven and all by csection. I remember with #4, coming home the next day (I hate being in the hospital because I can’t sleep so I’m better off leaving as soon as possible) and walking into the house at dinner time and realizing, ok here we go! My husband had to leave for something. So o made dinner and then was sitting on the laundry room floor sorting laundry and I realized how very much there was no time for mom to be down. I felt proud of myself on one hand, and sad too.
That is a great blessing! So fun having a dr tell you what to do and coach!🙏

My Raine was born csect just under 37 weeks and had to go to NIcU for 6 hours. After a bunch of steroids and antibiotics, we got to go home after a day and a half - so much better than staying for days.

Awe, congratulations!! So glad you had a great Dr!! My daughter in law is about to have my first grandbaby any day now 😍 She would like to have a birth so similar to yours. Labor at home as long as possible. In fact she would have the baby at home, but the military insurance doesn't cover home birth. They hired a Doula to make the process as smooth as possible.

I have 6 kids. 30- oldest; 11-youngest. 6 is fun. I do wish they were closer together. It was fun when they were all at home. But we gave entered the GiGi & Granddaddy stage and it is equally wonderful.

Congratulations! You taught me something new - I didn't know that taking a big breath and holding it through pushing was good. I did that naturally and 3 pushes and my 9.8 baby girl was born - it was amazingly wonderful. My granddaughter will be giving birth in a couple weeks and I can pass that onto her. I'm almost 80 and when I delivered the first time at 21, with pain meds, I thought I was prepared since I read the (then) most complete on giving birth books recommended by my doctor. The chapter on labor was the shortest and it said, I would be given a pain medication and when I awoke, I would be holding a beautiful bundle of joy! That was it. The nurses were irritated that I wanted to nurse at night since they had to wake me and bring the baby to me as they were 'stored' somewhere else and three (up to 5) days in hospital was required. I couldn't wait to get home. Nine years later, my second came along, I went to natural child birth class, had NO medication, and my husband (even though germ filled) was allowed in the delivery room since I changed hospitals/doctors one day before birth so he could be there. After the hospital said husbands were way too germy to be included, I changed even though my MIL said natural birth may be the source of cancer, how could I go against doctors. So I was scared but determined. Hubby got to cut the cord and was so proud to hold her first. I think he bonded with the baby then. I even came home the morning after I gave birth after signing a release saying I was going against standard rules) and now am so thankful I followed my heart. So happy for you - I remember the joy I felt so I know you must be thrilled. So happy for you!

I have a Bear (Beren, called Bear) who was born in the amniotic sac a little over 20 years ago! The nurses said it's a sign of good luck.

I had low intervention births too, at birthing centre and a hospital for peace of mind (was just closer 2nd time and I hate being in labour in a car)Our country is fairly low intervention for birthing (New Zealand)I also was prepped with intervention is only when needed and you can do this mentality. Makes a huge difference for sure.
Makes you pretty proud, I am sure I was begging for drugs at points (pushed my eldest for 2.5 hours and she was born occiput posterior) but was encouraged on as per my wishes and it helps a lot to have a room full of people who believe in you.
I told my midwife 2nd time oh yes my first baby was born OP, she goes, oh you will have no trouble this time. Yes 2nd one almost fell out! It's sooo different if positioning is good.
Soooo... I guess Dad, won the price then? ;-) What an exiting birth story! I hope that great doctor has students with him, so that they can learn from his bedside manners. Our third daughter was born en-caul or “veiled” and it literally felt like birthing a waterballon covered in Vaseline. It made the most satisfying “PLOOP” sound. I’d birth 10 babies that way if I could!! 😂 The next two were both born with hands on their head so I guess the moral of the story is ya can’t win ‘em all!
