I'm just saying, if y'all haven't heard A Lot Like Birds yet, specifically the first 2 albums, you're in for a damn treat. Kurt Travis was the singer for them also.

Secret Band would be a cool reaction I wanna see what you guys think of DGD with no singer! It’s just John Mess on vocals and it’s awesome! The song Lightning is great!

Yep, I second this. Definitely want them to check out Secret Band. Though I want them to do Projectile Comet first since it's kind of the epitome of weird Jon Mess lyrics and sick musical sounds.

A lot like birds - vanity’s fair. This was another band Kurt Travis was in and they were soooo good!! Great video! This was a good one to do. Royal coda, secret band, stolas, eidola, a lot like birds. You’ll love all of that!

I would definitely recommend "Shelf Life" by DGD from Artificial Selection in 2018. It actually features Kurt back in the band for a song with Tilian and Jon handling the chorus and parts of later verses. Definitely one of my favorite Kurt songs. Also, Kurt was one of two previous DGD singers. Johnny Craig was a founding member and recorded their debut EP and their first album, Downtown Battle Mountain. He was kicked out for drug and personality issues if I remember my history correctly, and was replaced by Kurt Travis. After recording their self-titled album (also known as the Deathstar album for its artwork), their original bassist left and Jon Mess left the band as well due to health issues that were affecting his ability to scream. Will took over screaming duties in the next album, Happiness. After finishing Happiness, their bassist at the time quit, and they brought in Tim Feerick, who is their current bassist. Kurt smoked a lot at the time and lost a big portion of his vocal range on tour, and their rhythm guitarist quit. Will and Matt decided they wanted to get the original lineup back together, so Kurt and Tim left to make room for the full original lineup to return, including a since recovered and better-than-before Jon Mess. The Johnny Craig return album was named Downtown Battle Mountain II. However, Johnny had been less than honest about his sobriety when he was brought back, and harassed members of bands they were on tour with, in addition to being caught scamming fans by pretending to sell Macbooks while pocketing the money. He was, of course, kicked back out and the original bassist left again. Kurt came back to finish a couple prescheduled tours while they searched for a new singer, and Matt recommended Tilian, as he had just left his band, Tides of Man (who have since gone instrumental rather than try to find a vocalist to compete with Tilian) and Tilian had already met and gotten along with DGD during a few shows they had both been performing at. Around the same time Tilian came into the band, Tim Feerick was brought back in as well. They recorded Acceptance Speech before their new rhythm guitarist, Josh Benton, left to pursue the production side of the industry (which he now does at Blue Swan). Since Josh, there hasn't been a full-time second guitar in the band, with DGD primarily using a handful of collaborators that mainly include the other guitarist in Secret Band (an all scream side project with everyone from DGD except Tilian and Tim), Zach Garren (the rhythm guitarist during the Kurt era), and on their last two albums Andrew Wells (their touring rhythm guitarist/backing vocalist since 2015 and the lead vocalist of Blue Swan signee Eidola) who also has had a vocal feature on the two latest albums.

I was worried that it wouldn't be Richard's thing, but glad ya'll liked it! Definitely check out Wolf & Bear; they're also signed to Blue Swan records, they have a DGD member in the band (the bassist) and have a similar setup and sound to DGD while having their own sound. Their live performance of "Sight" at Pus Cavern is worth checking out!

I don’t really think he fit what the rest of DGD was wanting to do creatively. He was a good placeholder vocalist, tho.

saw royal coda at the dgd friends tour and man did they hook me lol. when kurt left dgd, his live performances left much to be desired, but that has certainly changed now. they are just as good live as they are in the records. they made an instant fan of me with this song

Pleaseeee do Secret Band!! They are so sick. Jon Mess, Will Swan, and Matt Mingus (drummer of DGD) are in the band. The song “Rabbit Hole” is off their new LP and it’s a great one to get started on. Their song “Lighting” is also a good one, as I saw someone else recommended it. But I absolutely love their first EP. Hope you guys react to them soon!!

You guys should definitely do Eidola next (or whenever you get around to it), also on Blue Swan. The vocalist/guitarist is the touring guitarist for DGD. They are insane. It's so hard to suggest just one song since they are really diverse. Probably check out Tetelestai or First Temple before anything else.

It's funny cause i think the drums are driving this :D. Yeah on a serious note, you guys said it all. I can't add anything except i also found the song to be great. I liked it. Counting time patterns from only listening to a song (once!) especially when its very jumpy and twisty is really not easy. And this drummer made sure you couldn't on that @4:00 bridge lol. But relistening to it i'm pretty sure its 4/4 all the way, but i might be wrong as well...its just the pattern of kick + snare hits makes it very confusing :) but also COOL
