An almost extraordinary talent - no weaknesses, never!" was how Ivan Galamian, the great violin pedagogue, described his former student Michael Rabin, five years after Rabin's untimely death at age 35. For a whole generation of American violin lovers, Michael Rabin represented the ‘’nec plus ultra’’ of fiddle playing, a young, vital American with a brilliant technique and a deeply felt passion for the music he performed.

An agreeable surprise to hear the Paganini 1 in the hands and the violin of a real musician, Michael Rabin. Contrary to some recordings, this one underlines the musicality and warmth of Paganini, rather than the acrobatics. Pity the early demise of this prodigious violin player. Many thanks Classical music for this truly reference recording.

How I wish people realized Paganini isn’t just “la campanella” and “caprice 24”
    He’s got many other masterpieces

Paganini's always been mistaken as a greatest violinist only, purposely or not, people neglected he's a great composer as well.

Paganini was born 1782 not 1742.
    His grave is in Parma/Italy.
