Thank you for reacting to this beautiful performance! In 2017, Jin said his dream collaboration would be with his favorite band, Coldplay. It was a huge honor that Coldplay allowed them to do this cover, because Coldplay is protective of their music. Then later, they were able collaborate with Coldplay on the song, My Universe. Most recently, Jin released The Astronaut, which he co-wrote with Coldplay. The video was just released the other day, and Jin flew to Argentina to perform it onstage with Coldplay, which has also been released on their channel, BangtanTV. Jin's dream of a collaboration came true, but more importantly, Coldplay and BTS have become supportive friends who share a common belief in the values of kindness, encouragement and inclusion.
And according to Chris Martin it was Jin who initiated the entire Coldplay/BTS collaboration. 💜

BTS and Coldplay have the best collaborative relationship that I've ever seen. Chris is such an amazing person, and our fanbases have been so so kind to one another. So many times, featured artists have done BTS wrong, but Coldplay has been a DREAM.
You realize they collaborated on the song My Universe. And Jin got together with Chris in a performance before he had to leave for the Korean army.
Also FYI, Coldplay dont allow cover of this song because its a very personal song for Chris as he wrote this for his ex wife Gwyneth Paltrow when her father passed away. When this was released (it was a surprise from MTV unplugged) a lot of Coldplay fans were shocked and were skeptical if Coldplay really approved it but Coldplay later on shared the link to the video in their social media accounts. After a few months My Universe is announced 💜
Also, it just shows how much Chris trust BTS and vice versa 💜💜💜

Seldom mentioned in most comments is the fact that the 3 rappers (RM, Sugar & J-Hope) provided the lower harmonies for this song... They have lovely singing voices which we so seldom hear so these kinds of performances where they are given the chance to sing and be heard is so precious. Needless to say, all the vocalists performed excellently as always and their voices are heavenly... Love this...💖

coldplay came to argentina and is doing various concerts here. chris is close friends with bts and jin, a member that's going to military service. six months ago they organised this reunion and I was able to go in the 28th of this month, the day Jin was coming!!

With Fix You, Chris is very picky about letting people cover it. When BTS did this, Chris tweeted about how much he loved it. What we didn't know was that by the time BTS did this song, they had had almost a year long friendship with Coldplay. They contacted Coldplay about would they write a song for them. Chris tells the story that he didn't know anything about BTS so he started looking into them. When he saw that they talked about a lot of the things Coldplay does and how humble and sincere they were he got to work. That's how we got My Universe and from Coldplay really loving the guys, it's how we got Jin's new song The Astronaut.

I love the friendship between BTS and Coldplay. If you get the chance to see the video of when they first met and collaborated, you should watch it. I have such respect for Chris Martin and Coldplay after watching them with BTS. Coldplay was always one of my favorites, but especially after the way they treated Jin-well, they’re the best-as human beings and musicians!
I want you to react to your eyes tell. This song is a almost vocal but has a bit of rap. Even more special, Kim Taehyung, who sang the last verse of this song, was a low-pitched voice, but able to sing very high.
And the fact Coldplay doesn’t normally allows musician to cover their songs especially Fix You, he knows BTS will give justice to this song & they did (as always). BTS & Coldplay are now close friends & they did collaboration songs “My Universe” & recently “The Astronaut” with Jin.
BTS and Coldplay are extremely close not long after this they did a song together My Universe there is a documentary to it on the BTS channel and also Coldplay have just done another song with Jin the eldest member with the pink mic as he is leaving for the military soon he released it on Friday and performed at Coldplays concert in Argentina that same evening 💜

Dropped a year ago, and during the pandemic lockdown still for BTS. There is another cover that is also excellent. A Puff Daddy, Sting and Faith Evans song called "I'll Be Missing You". Other than those, the only covers I know of are done by individual BTS members or subunits (2 or 3 members) (e.g., Falling done by Jungkook but a Harry Styles song). Their more recent songs Yet to Come and For Youth are mostly standing or sitting as well, although their 3rd new song "Run BTS" was just performed at their Busan concert and that one was definitely not a sitting down song - full choreo - and crazy good!

Apparently, you didn't see the Coldplay concert in Buenos Aries on October 28th. It was streamed in theaters across the US because Jin flew to Buenos Aries to join Coldplay and sing his song co-written by Chris and Guy from Coldplay.

I love this! I think it's a beautiful version of this song. I think that they did a lot of sit down stuff as Suga was coming back from his shoulder surgery. They really showed that the rap line has the ability to sing. Talent oozes from these guys.
Fun Fact: Coldplay did "Fix You" in Buenos Aries for their concert tour to their album "Music of the Spheres".
I hadn't realized that BTS sings the song higher than Chris Martin does - not really - till I heard it in the movie theater.

They actually have quite a few songs where they don't have choreography. Mostly those are ballads. They perform a song however they feel it serves the song best.
BTS has a lot of slow songs that don’t have choreography. Chris gave them permission to cover it. Now they are close the bands. Chris did a collab with them My Universe. And he also wrote a song for Jin so he could say farewell to us while he is doing his duty to the country. He is currently in the military until 2024. His song with Coldplay as backup is The Astronaut if u want to check that out too. Love both songs. There is even a small documentary of Chris going to Korea and working on My Universe with the guys. They adore him and he them. They are big fans of Coldplay. If u want to see them layed back more check out Tiny Desk concert. It's a live stage of 3 songs in Korea a set made to look like Tiny Desk office during pandemic. They sing Dynamite, Save Me and Spring Day. All great songs. All have MVs too. =0} BTS love their sparkly mic's. They each have like 3 different ones these days. So u can't really tell the members by mic colore no more. Not 100% at least. And pls don't memorise them by their hair color they change it all the time!!!
I love hearing this praise. The guys worked so hard for many years to get to this level of talent. So I appreciate your honesty. Jimin is the 27yo on the far left. V 27yo is in the middle. He is a baritone that can go pretty high. Jimin is the highest vocal though. RM leader and main rapper is on the far right side. Next to RM is Jin the oldest member at 30. I think Jungkook(JK) the youngest at 25 is next to Jimin. He is blond here. There are 4 vocalists and 3 rappers in the group. JK is the one that starts the song off. The rappers Suga and Hobi as well as RM did their singing in this. Sometimes we call it singing rap. =0p I hope you are able to hear more BTS. Stay safe. In 2019 I found out my mom had breast cancer. She was dying in front of my eyes with no treatment. I am a cancer survivor and this was very painful for me. I am an artist and former art teacher. I deal with anxiety and depression since my youth. Sadly, the mental health struggle let me to loose my art for many years. It was like i lost part of my soul. I have been trying to find it again but nothing lasted for long. When BTS found me I really did not know how much I needed them and army. They gave me back my art! They gave me stress relief and strength to fight for my mom's life. These days I have a small business on twt selling my BTS fan art sculptures. Go figure. My mom is getting treatment and is doing better physically but not so great mentally. So am still stressed but BTS and Army are there in support. So i can deal. I hope mom lives for many more years.

Kpop is not a genre actually, it's an industry because groups can choose whatever genre they want. I know you can listen to like one or two songs from a singer or group and get the gist of their sound but with BTS, their discography is so varied that you need to listen to a variety of the music to get who they are.

The first thing to understand is, that "K-Pop" is not really just a genre, it's more a whole industry..
As SUGA (one of the BTS members) once said:
"I’m a little careful to talk about K-pop as a genre, because I don’t want to be defining Kpop as a genre. I’m a little bit wary of that, but I think rather than approach Kpop as a genre, a better approach would be ‘integrated content.' K-pop includes not just the music, but the clothes, the makeup, the choreography…all these elements I think sort of amalgamate together in a visual and auditory content package, that I think sets it apart from other music or maybe other genres so again, as I said, rather than approach K-pop as it’s own genre I think approaching it as this integration of different content would be better.”

Their voices are easy to tell apart because only 4 are vocalists, each with distinct voices:
Jin, 30yo, the tall lanky one has a "lifted palette" sound and is great at hitting those piercing/belting notes.
Jungkook, youngest member 25yo, has the quintessential pop sound (think Bieber) and has the most control over his voice which is why he usually does the runs and ad libs (though Jimin has a lot of awesome ad libs in this particular song).
Jimin, 27yo, pretty, lead dancer, is known for his airy light delicate voice. He has some of the most beautiful range of tones IMO
V, 27yo, has the gorgeous, round, soulful voice, and can go low and deep but also high and belting (really, all the singers in BTS have an amazing vocal range and can all go high)
Once you get the singers out of the way, then you have the 3 rappers. These are easy, cuz there's less of them...and they have their own distinct style. This song doesn't really show the rappers' full capability, but you can still get a glimpse of those unique styles:
Suga, 29yo, 2nd rapper, lead , usually has a slightly, how-do-I explain it....low-key savage/dangerous tone? and a little bit of a lisp. He plays with his voice sometimes using inflection on certain words.
RM, 29yo, 1st rapper, main (official leader of BTS), has a very solid American rapper boom-bap style. Deep voice. Can sound smooth or aggressive.
J-Hope, 29yo, 3rd rapper, lead, usually he's the "hype" rapper of the group songs and singles, but he is a talented rapper in his own right. He has the most distinctive voice IMO, very laid-back vibe, but can be savage and sarcastic sounding. Main dancer.

I think there are more bts songs with no choreo than with choreo at this point.
Most of their recent releases have been without any choreo. They have tons of amazing sit down chill perfomances that fans really love.
Their ballads and full rap songs don't usually have choreo.

@@ruthfischer7615 I am talking about b sides in albums, including solo songs and Japanese songs. If we count the no choreo songs, it may have a slightly bigger number than ones with choreo.
@@ralphy383 Part of that is Covid - I think - that and some of the recent songs are OST which don't need choreo.
Don't forget that they had to wait a very long time to show us their Map of the Soul choreo.
But you are not completly wrong. I think it has to do that they were waiting for Covid to be over, do the concerts and go to the military.
One thing with BTS when they do a cover they don't really try to totally change the song from the original out of respect i guess to the artist but at the same time make it their own.

Coldplay and BTS have a very close relationship, they're two band that are so down to earth in this big industry so it's understandable. + They have work together a couple times now, releasing bangers !

When you said you have never seen them sitting and singing just like this, I thought that you don't know anything about them then. There are a lot of songs what they sing like this: Spring day, Life goes on, Make it right etc.
