  • Here is a brand-new incredible discovery made today! An audio tape of the Beatles' private performance at a celebration in EMI House, London to celebrate to celebrate their first silver disc for Please Please Me. It is amazing to hear such good quality performances with a very respectable audience.

    This is one of their -vocally- tightest performances. Audio quality is insane for a 63 show.

      Actually, 1963 audios are better beacuse there were not as many screams as in 1964 USA tour.

    I really love the energy of Please, Please me - and John saying "All together now" to the crowd of busyness people at 4:11. Also funny knowing that they would make a silly song around that frase later 🙂

      @@pierre-marcbeaulieu5216 A few you can hear here on u-tube. In my own collection I have a few cd's from the Quarrymen, recorded in 1960. One is a double cd and it's called The Esher Tapes/Home Recordings. Mostly recorded at Paul's home with Stuart and some help of Paul's brother Michael.

    How does this not get heard for 60 years? Not complaining, I’m really glad to hear it. I was 3 years old when this was recorded. A bit older now. Listening to these recordings just confirms the obvious once again. Those four guys were a gift to mankind.

    Never knew this was even recorded,so for it to turn up is amazing.On a par with 'one offs' for the BBC like 'I'll be on my way' and 'Soldier of love'.....Many thanks Adam.

    Extraordinary that we learnt from BBC Radio 4 today there's a tape of their set at Stowe School on 4th April 1963 - who'd have ever thought that one day there'd be existing tapes of CONSECUTIVE Beatles gigs, from this point in their career??!

    会場が狭かったからかなりジョンとポールの歌も抑えた感じだが、演奏とコーラスの繊細さがわかる。ポールもベースの音外す事が有るんだと知れて、貴重な音源だと思う。

      映像でも運指が完全でないことが確認できます

    wow, I was 12 and just getting in to guitar. Their later performances, as well as others, Chuck Berry, Duane Eddy, the Ventures etc. would mark the beginning of my lifetime of guitar playing. Wasn't as easy to learn the tunes then, we had to buy the record. lol

    everything they had live was present there. three singers. great writing. ringos drums were so steady and perfect even on the early tunes. george is so valuable. llennon mccartney well..just say their names.

    John and Paul and George on harmony. It does not get any better than that!! All playing tight and George outstanding as usual understated as usual. Ehere less is more. Ringo stellar on those drums..But Lennon and McCartney pure magic!

    HOLY MOLY, THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS!!!!!!!!! Fascinating: John makes a joke about Decca in the beginning (practically inaudible, but that's probably what George is laughing about). Also, interesting that Ringo doesn't play the syncopated accents at the end of the song! Perhaps this was one of those where he hadn't played it since the recording session and needed to re-familiarize himself with the arrangement. Also interesting how Paul is relaxed with singing a little bit on the intro of "Please Please Me" and giving little "yeahs" and stuff throughout. The audience ain't screaming, it's a bunch of murmuring men there to see them get their silver discs. (I believe this is when they received their silver discs for "Please Please Me".) FASCINATING! This could have been just another two versions of these songs and wouldn't have meant nearly as much if it was just another radio broadcast. WOW!!!!!!

      John did not bring the mouth organ for this occasion...interesting!
      Very nice performance and besides bbc we can hear no screaming from the audience...just press men doing their job

      @@magneto6717 In the very beginning, when they're testing the microphones, they get a bit of feedback or have some kind of problem and John says something like "Who's on that mike?" He takes a beat and then adds: "Somebody from Decca." and you hear scattered laughter from the audience, obviously folks from EMI. Ha!

    A very , very rare bass mistake! of Paul! A slipup to F instead of playing an E under "I can send it along.." interesting bass line in the end....to you, to you A E to Ab Eb awesome track!

    Great. You get the flavor of their interactions and friendship. And it is nice to hear the vocals. It almost sounds like there is a mic on the kick drum, but probably not.

    I love how the Beatles always were urging each other on to show enthusiasm with their little shouts and 'whoos!' They did this straight thru to the 1966 concerts.

    Brilliant find. It's a shame the original recordings of Lend Me Your Comb, Carol and Soldier Of Love recorded in EMI's Manchester Square Theatre for Radio Luxembourg were lost.

      Only a day or two before, they had played at a school in Buckinghamshire - another discovery (the tape from that night came to light just a few weeks ago). A year later they would be the hottest rock band on the planet!

    What a great recording! Well done sir! Two weeks before this I was in the Carfax Assembly Rooms for the Beatles only performance in Oxford. Cost me six bob for the ticket! Are there any recordings of that concert I wonder (or photos inside the venue)?

    So this was recorded the day after the performance at Stowe, a recording of which has also been discovered.
