    Can a dirty occ filter cause it to blow oil out of the ventilation tube?

    I have a CEL and a code of SPN 5396 FMI 1 with a description “engine crankcase hose disconnected.” I’ve inspected, and it is connected. Could the filter needing to be changed be the reason for that code? Thanks!

    How can you tell if your module is bad vs if the filter needs replacing? I have engine crankcase ventilation hose disconnected and engine crankcase breather oil separator speed codes.

      it'll increasingly blow more oil out of the bottom tube is a symptom. I just replaced mine yesterday and it had quite a bit of oil at the opening of the tube.

    How often does this need to be changed. Curious about it. Thinking about buying a truck with the mx13 .

      MX-13 Manual states every 90,000 - 120,000 miles. I have 15 MX-13's. I replaced them with the serviceable filters and do them every 60,000 miles or every 4th oil change (I do oil changes every 15,000 miles). Paccars are a royal pain in the ass. Whatever mileage Paccar recommends different services be done, do them in half the mileage.

    .9 hours my ass…. You’ll spend that removing zip ties and disconnecting hoses if you’re lucky

  • @edjahman
    @edjahman Год назад +3

    .9 hrs is laughable.
    Those plastic connectors are the devil.
    I wound up removing the ECM to get to the top bolts and the bracket on the firewall side.
    This process is nowhere near as easy as they make it look when you are laying on a creeper in your driveway.

      I did mine yesterday and just replaced the internals because EFFING PACCAR has had the updated module on backorder ALL YEAR.
      I had to remove the ECM to get to the top bolts and the firewall side bracket.
      Yes, it was all a huge pain in the assign my driveway at home.

      I just got a company truck assigned to me. Kw with paccar. B4 I even left it started this high-pitched whine. The shop said it's this filter but they don't have it yet. Said it's ok to drive but to get in to another shop that has it on my route.

    • @Themixedmetalhead
      @Themixedmetalhead Год назад +1

      @@edjahman yeah they are no fun. Did you do the filter or the whole module?

    • @edjahman
      @edjahman Год назад

      @@Themixedmetalhead I haven't been able to find a complete module all year so someone I know sent me a used one and I swapped out the internals.
      It's still the old one and not the updated one with the servicible filter.
      I'm pretty angry about not being able to obtain a new one from Paccar and I would've been out of business several times over had I not been able to run with it broken for months.
      Take care

    • @edjahman
      @edjahman Год назад

      @@Themixedmetalhead I had to remove the original module from probably 2016 and just replace the top part with the drum inside because it's been on national backorder pretty much all year.
      It works for now while I continue to wait forever for the undated one with the servicible filter.
