So I took the thing apart and fiddle with the metal tabs on the inside and they were rust shut on some of them and Misbent on others, so after some adjustments I can now play “in the jungle”!! Props my brother!! And I applaud you too, Eunice! Your abilities are astounding!!! Keep up the good play!!!
I teach special education as a career, I just want to say how much I admire your teaching skills! You are clearly understanding, concerned about the whole student (me in this case!) and patient. You deliver all of this SO WELL. Thanks for making these. I'm learning to make better use of my idle time, but this brought me added joy because you are obviously passionate about life and people.

Hey bro big sweater here too lol (end of the video) awesome teacher 37 now played guitar started when I was 13 kinda took seriously for couple years then girls happened lol. But never was able to get as serious as I'd like to be due to the fact I've had arthritis from a young age so can only play for tops 1 hour then just couldn't , Would just be frustrated and even the next day my wrist would be inflamed and very stiff, then a my grandfather passed about 3 months ago not covid just old age any way he had a tremelo harmonica and then started messing around just bought and has arrived my first real Horner's key C Harp .so basically just thank you Really getting obsessed with blues and no arthritis pain playing harp thanks again. Yeah, actually I started on guitar as well, I started playing harmonica around 16 or 17, but then got really serious with it after getting repetitive stress syndrome in my left index finger (from over-practicing) which prevented me from being able to play guitar. There's something magical about instruments that are played with the breath, I think. Rock on, my friend!

Funny how things go, I've had 2 major surgeries in the past 4 months, one being having part of my lung removed and a friend suggested me learning how to play the harmonica as it would be good breathing exercise for my lungs. Never knew how easy it can be to learn how to play the harmonica. I will be starting when I get my set of harmonicas tomorrow. I've "tinkered" with a couple of them before. But, have never had my own to play. Am just going to be playing for fun and to have something to do with some of my spare time when I'm not in the mood to paint, do needlecrafts, etc. Also, I'm a 52 YO lady who loves doing many different crafts. And, I've often wanted to learn how to play the harmonica. Specially the theme song to "The Walton's" because I always loved watching that series as a child. Is there any way you could make a video on how to play that theme song. I'd appreciate it so much if you can. Keep your videos coming for us all, please. And, thank you so much for this one. It has made me unafraid to "pick up" and add a new talent to my repertoire. 😉

I just request maybe if you can put in the titles the lesson number so that for example a beginner like me could trace the chronological order of what video should I watch first then so on. Hey Brett - great question! Harmonicas are tuned this way so that we can get a C major chord when we blow, and then a G7 chord when we draw holes 1-6. There are LOTS of alternate tunings that are becoming more and more popular. If you're interested in exploring them, you can check out this forum thread: forum.harmonica.com/t/different-tuning-harmonicas/5989?u=luke A lot of the alternate tunings still have this switch between holes 6 and 7, but not all of them. I'm practicing every day.. maybe a hour .. and i notice some feelings to my lips .. not pain not bad feelings but some i will call "scrub". .. that's normal... anyway .. i'mm beginning to be able to isolate notes .. thanks to you ,,,
Ask away, my friend. Congrats on beginning to be able to isolate notes! Yes, that's normal to have the lips feel a little chaffed after playing for an hour. Depending on the harmonica you're playing, some are more comfy on the lips than others. Plastic combs are more comfortable than wooden combs. Cover plates that hide the reed plates completely are more comfortable than ones that have the reed plates a little exposed. This is a Good place to start. I play “ o suszanna “ with this scale. Pick out a bunch of different tunes on this scale to get it in your memory bank.

Why are all the blows lower than draws until you hit 7 and then it flips? How do harmonicas work for that to be the case?
Hey Brett - great question! Harmonicas are tuned this way so that we can get a C major chord when we blow, and then a G7 chord when we draw holes 1-6.
There are LOTS of alternate tunings that are becoming more and more popular. If you're interested in exploring them, you can check out this forum thread:

A lot of the alternate tunings still have this switch between holes 6 and 7, but not all of them.
It's just something we have to get used to. Hope that helps.

Hey Luke .. Sorry for the many question .. !!! it is normal for a beginner to have a sort of feelings on the lip where you put and slide the armonica? I'm practicing every day.. maybe a hour .. and i notice some feelings to my lips .. not pain not bad feelings but some i will call "scrub". .. that's normal... anyway .. i'mm beginning to be able to isolate notes .. thanks to you ,,,
Ask away, my friend. Congrats on beginning to be able to isolate notes! Yes, that's normal to have the lips feel a little chaffed after playing for an hour. Depending on the harmonica you're playing, some are more comfy on the lips than others. Plastic combs are more comfortable than wooden combs. Cover plates that hide the reed plates completely are more comfortable than ones that have the reed plates a little exposed.
