  • I made a full length, more in-depth slap bass lesson a couple of years ago (I’ll throw the link down below), but I figured it might be beneficial to do a few shorter videos focusing on various slap bass techniques in a more direct way. This is the third in the series, focusing on the triple slap. This is the logical next step after wrapping your head around the single slap and double slap. There are links down below for videos on both of those techniques , and I would strongly recommend watching them first. Getting comfortable with those will make this lesson much easier to understand. Hopefully it’s simple and clear enough to be of some assistance to anyone who’s either new to the instrument or looking to further their knowledge with some new playing styles. Enjoy.

    crikey, that demonstration tone sounds like it a pretty noticeable chorus on it. Crazy how acoustics can do that. Great video 👍

    Hey, friend. What strings are you using on your bass there?

      Innovation 'Psycho Slaps' here. Just like their Golden Slaps, just heavier with a bit more tension. I use Gut-A-Like strings now, the 'Vintage' set, which I greatly prefer. But still, these are great strings.

    Why is this different from a hillbilly slap?

    • @FuzzBass66
      @FuzzBass66  3 года назад +1

      Everything about it is different honestly. The sound, how it's played, the 'feel', how it's used in a song. They may both have three slaps, but they're far from the same. Think of it this way, the hillbilly slap is 'technically' a triplet, solely on the grounds that, yes, it has three slaps. But not all triplets are a hillbilly slap, the same way that a drag triplet is also a triplet but not all triplets are drag triplets. You're not the first person to ask me about this though, I might throw a quick video together for the sake of clarification.

    Its Just a Double slap. Triple ist Something else

      By logical definition- Double slap = two slaps total (pulling the string, allowing it to slap against the board followed by one slap). Triple slap = three slaps total (pulling the string, allowing it to slap against the board followed by two additional slaps). I don't know if you're referring to a drag triplet, which is of course much different from both the standard double and standard triple slap...but yeah, either way, what I'm showing here is 100% a triple slap. I'm confident in saying that because of how I learned all of these techniques, which was from bassists who are far more experienced and far more successful than I am...so, guys that know what they're talking about.

      @@Slappinrocker It's strange that guys like Lee Rocker and Pete Turland, who are both FAR more accomplished players than you or I and are two people who's various video lessons I used heavily when I was first starting out would give such blatant, false information like that. Very, very strange indeed. But oh well, I guess if you're saying it then if must be true. Hey! Maybe you could show me! C'mon man, I'm always willing to learn new things. 35 years in I'd assume you're the guy. Your Tele/slapback vids are pretty cool, but i didn't see any bass. C'mon now, lead me to the light brother!
