Met Johnny back in '83 doing a gig down under the in the land of Oz. We dined together which was great. He opened up and we had discussed many things, especially the music which I discovered at 12 and he was my favourite tenor man - thank god for record reissues. He was an inspiration as a superb disciplined musician and a genuine human being and I remember it as if it were yesterday. R.I.P. Johnny.
A fine player for sure. Very musical, great chop and very creative.,..never repeats himself. He spent most of his middle years in Europe which I gather is why we don't have that much video of him nor was he as popular as he might have been if he had stayed in the US.

The best 👌
I think Rene Urtreger played w/ Django
He also played with King Oliver.
Too much compression.
Are you a musician?
Huh???
I get this if I'm lucky enough to sleep with a woman under 40.
Yep, too much compression.
Love it , bring on the compression , to much control these days , let that snare fizz like a fryin breakfast 😀
