Just bought one. I own a GoCycle GX, Carbo S and X and the Fold 1 blows them all away at 1/3rd the price. For me it's primarily the power and super comfortable ride with the tires they use. On level 5 you can really feel the power of this 750w motor. Blowing through Central Park at 32 MPH feels pretty crazy on a bike that only costs $1100. The range is excellent too. The only thing I don't like is that the throttle is limited at each level and gradually increases. In NYC traffic, I need an immediate jolt to start up at lights and get out of different situations fast. I have to compromise by just setting it to level 5 every time I stop, then once I get moving I bring it down to level 4, which is my standard speed. If they can fix that with a software update, it will be perfect.
As usually excellent review from this channel and knowledgeable ebike reviewer. I’d like to add as an owner with more than 120 million already on Velotric F1, that once you transfer this Class 2 e-bike to Class 3, most of the terrains including steep short grades I use only PAS 1 with enough torgue. It’s amazing to pedal using main,y lower assist level. No ghost pedaling even when higher PAS level. The throttle is not adding much but practically I do not need it pedaling practically everywhere. I shared this performance comparing Velotric F1 with my previous e-bikes from Heybike, Aipas A2 Elite and Ride1Up Portola. Later I replaced since it’s smaller for my 6.1” and malfunctioned using the brake lever power cut-off. Previous I have replaced since Heybike was over-the frame design and realized the best for 76- yr senior is pedaling step-thru and folder for transportation. While Aipas A2 replaced since it’s heavy 65 pounds like Lectric XP 3.0 step-thru and one needs to fold the bike in order to remove the battery before transportation. Velotric F1 is also heavy, 64 lbs, but in class 3 outperformed all previous I owned.
I believe I covered all of these - gearing in the walkaround, ghost pedaling at near 30 mph and I went through all of the pedal assist levels. Let me know if I'm not understanding your question.

I also neglected to maintain the battery during those dormant periods, leading to damaged cells that no longer hold much of a charge, beyond riding with throttle or assist for about 3 - 4 miles. 🫤 Ghost pedaling starts at around 15 mph for this Class 3 bike, which is annoying. I’m open to selling, then replacing my current bike for another step-thru folder. I also like that the tires on this bike are only 3” wide-4” balloon wheels are excessive & heavy for a city rider like me. Any advice you can provide, Ryan? I’m under 5’2”, so the specs on this bike seem to suit me. The Ranger cost $1399 when I bought it. Does this bike have comparable quality? Would it be better, in some ways?
They sure look like they use the same case. You’d have to check the polarity of the connectors and take a number of other measurements before even trying. After looking more closely, the buttons and LEDs for checkin battery charge are quite different.
Almost all ebikes come from China. Almost all components come from China. The "American" companies get them from China to sell here. This is why the 200 dollar tariff raised the prices on almost ebikes jumped.
The Mokwheel Slate might be a better value. It has a torque sensor and its price is a couple hundred less than the RadExpand. What I want to know about Mokwheel are what their quality is like and how good is their customer support?

That's actually a very *unimpressive* weight capacity for the rack. Actually.. might even be worst in class. Quite a shame given the overall weight capacity of the bike is over 400lbs (which IS best in class!) Missed opportunity by Velotric!

Is the RadExpand 5 Plus at $1899 worth the price premium over $800 to $1100 "budget" folding bikes ?
It has a torque sensor and fatter tires, but it also only goes to 20mph. Not worth it imho.
I think it all comes down to how much you value the torque vs cadence sensor.

The rear rack holds 120 lb according to Velotric. I'm not putting people on it so I don't see the problem.
This is not a ebike for you obviously judged on the cargo capacity, Velotric F1 is not one of the cargo e-bike category.
