Funny story, my late brother-in-law Bob loved tapioca pudding and when he went to Aruba on vacation he requesteed it in all the restaurants they visited. Unfortunately none of the restaurants had it on the menu. This was about 20 years ago or more. My other sister and brother-in-law were with them on vacation. Needless to say by the end of the trip Bob drove everyone TAPIOCA! Whenever he came over on the holidays I always managed to have it on the menu. Thanks for the recipe of a true comfort food.
Love tapioca pudding. Mom use to mix a box of Jello cook style chocolate pudding with a box of Jello cook style vanilla tapioca pudding as my dad loved chocolate tapioca pudding. So did/do I. I use to hate pudding skin as a kid, but as an adult- I LOVE it now - the flavor of the pudding is so much more concentrated in the skin. I wish I could get more of it off a bowl…. I’ve tried pouring the cooked pudding into a wide, flat vessel (sheet pan) to just get a lot of skin but it doesn’t work very well. 🤪🤣🤪😂 I’m think Seinfeld had an episode where George was putting pudding skins in baggies for a treat - I think he thought it should be sold in stores . 🤣😂🤣
Hi Kathleen! Nice to meet a fan of the pudding skin! I love that you tried to make a batch of it. I have never tried the chocolate tapioca but it sounds delicious!! I'm going to try it! Thanks!
I love tapioca! The old fashioned large pearl tapioca is far superior! It does have to soak overnight, and it is more work, but so worth it. My mom made this especially for me. I could eat gallons of it! So delicious.
Hi Andrea - the pearl tapioca is great, but it requires a long soaking period. For people like me who often don't plan ahead, this is a good compromise. Thanks!
Yes me too, I first had it on school camp going back 65 years ago. I remember going back for seconds. I thought it was magic, my mother never cooked sweets. 😔
During the Christmas holidays, my mother always made Tapioca pudding along with some apricot puree. She would layer the two in parfait glasses and serve with homemade whipped cream. Not only did it make a lovely presentation, the combination of tart and sweet complimented one another beautifully.
Good morning Kevin and Sis! About 50 years ago (😳) our family would spend a day at the beach (without applying sun screen I might add) and my aunt would take along this tapioca putting to snack on. She filled one of those old large blue glass Ball Mason jars to the rim with it. Good times! Excited to make this myself and thanks for sharing🥰
I don't believe I've ever eaten tapioca. . . gonna have to try it per your directions here. . . .so pleased to see you cook in copper-bottomed Revereware! . . . so do I ! Thanks for sharing Kevin.
My mom would make tapioca for us kids and it was always a treat! I haven’t had it in years but because of your video I’m making it this weekend. Thanks Kevin and Maryann😊
Great comfort food recipe. Must try to make. Love tapioca! And I love your spotless kitchen. Very positive atmosphere. The overhead housing the exhaust fan, how do you properly clean one that has not been cared for? Trying help a friend w/it.
Hi Sallie - this really is the ultimate comfort food! The range hood with the exhaust fan and light needs to be wiped down regularly because it traps so much grease and grime. One that hasn't been cared for is going to take some work to clean. I'd try a heavy duty degreasing cleaner and see if it will break up some of the grime. Thanks!
Good to see you Kevin. Hope all is good. always get excited when I see a new one of your Videos. Im in the Middle of restoring a Kees Krawler tractor sprinkler. Ill send you a pic when done. Much Love from Colorado.
I can't rightly say if I've ever had tapioca in my life! I know my mom never made it... she made plenty of regular pudding, but never tapioca. Definitely an old fashioned dessert!! Something to try!! Hope you are having a good summer!! Take care.
Hi Greg - not everyone was a fan of tapioca. I think it's the texture that put some people off. But we had it growing up and it was always a treat - very old fashioned! Hope the summer is going well for you!! Thanks!
I haven't had tapioca pudding in ages! Have you ever done a video for stuffed peppers? I'm making some for my granddaughter's birthday. I generally just use my meatloaf recipe and add some cooked rice. Thanks for another good recipe, best to you, Marianne and Ralph. 😊
Hi Sharon - I did a stuffed peppers recipe about 12 years ago - here's the link: ruclips.net/video/2J-uMAyUhD0/видео.html Hope your granddaughter has a wonderful birthday!!
I know a lot of people don't like tapioca, but I like it much better then rice pudding. I never had it, but I read where people loved the tapioca pudding you could get at the Kmart cafeteria.
Ok, I just made a batch of tapioca pudding! It only took 10 days after your video. 😄 It’s a shame that life is too busy for minute tapioca. It’s hard to wait for it to cool!
I found this channel from a Wayne State page showcasing your collection of vintage appliances, as I'm searching the Internet hoping to get information on a vintage Westinghouse range in my parents' home so as to restore it to working order! I can find no photos online exactly like my model, only similar double-wide versions... Anyone reading this comment that would like to take a stab at narrowing down a year or a model for me would be appreciated deeply!!
Do you no longer own the house where you had the terrace top stove? I haven't seen a video from there in a few years I believe. I'm sure you still have the stove even if you don't have the house anymore.
This is almost the same exact recipe that's on the Kraft Minute Tapioca box with only two exceptions. 1. He didn't really bring it to a rolling boil. 2. He used more vanilla than the box calls for. But that's OK. The main thing is that the pudding comes out good.
I think A tour of your mid century home would be something great too see

Hi Maryann! Great story about your brother-in-law! I'll bet he loved having it when he came over for the holidays! Thanks!
Thank you Kevin and Mary Ann . Nice simple comfort food . Love it
Hi Louis! It doesn't get more comfort than tapioca!

Good stuff. Tapioca is my secret ingredient in my award winning meatloaf.
Hi PLK! I'll bet that meatloaf is terrific! Never thought to add tapioca!
I grew up having warm tapioca with chocolate chips melted in…..yum
Hi Teresa - does that ever sound good! Thanks!

I just tried the Minute Tapioca today for the first time and I loved it. I ordered the larger pearls on Amazon as I can’t find it around here.
I love this my daughter loves tapioca in memory of her nana my mom, she would add canned mandarins on top because my daughter loved them ❤😊
Hi Connie - what a nice way to stay connected with her nana. I love the addition of mandarin oranges on top!
Good show. Brings back memories😊
Thanks, Charles!

Yum! Sounds like my type of dessert.
Hi Wendy - that sounds beautiful and delicious!
I always keep Minute tapioca in my cupboard. I love the stuff. It’s getting harder to find at the stores though.
I've noticed it is also getting harder to find. I think many younger people don't buy it. Thanks!

Hi Victoria! What a great story about tapioca at the beach! Thanks!
I’ve just stared a diet, and this pops up, I love tapioca pudding, and I like it chilled. Thank you, this recipe looks delicious.
Thanks, Wendy!

. . .so pleased to see you cook in copper-bottomed Revereware! . . . so do I !
Thanks for sharing Kevin.
Hi Jake - give it a try and see if you like it! I like to cook in my old Revereware or Faberware pans! Thanks!
I’m the only one in my household who would eat this-love it!
Hi CC - more for you!!
Love tapioca pudding. Good morning to you two. 😊
Hello, Georgiann! We love it, too! Thanks!
I haven’t made this in quite a few years, but I have wanted to. I’m so glad to see you making it.
Hi Anna - hope you make a batch soon!
Love love love tapioca. I can eat a whole recipe by myself. I recognize the sauce pan. Mom had those pots
Thanks, Joan! That's a old RevereWare sauce pan!
I love your videos.
I appreciate you watching, Cindy!
My mom would make tapioca for us kids and it was always a treat! I haven’t had it in years but because of your video I’m making it this weekend. Thanks Kevin and Maryann😊
You're welcome, Judy!
Ahhh, the simple pleasures of life! Thanks you two!
You're welcome, Raven!

Deliciousness, as always!! Hi, Kevin and MaryAnn! Great to see you. I'm hoping your summer is amazing! All my best. Love from Ohio.
Hi Valli! Summer is going well, so far! Can't believe how fast it is flying by! Hope all is well in Ohio!! Love from Michigan!
Thanks for the recipe. I remember having this when I was young. It was such a treat!
You're welcome, Donna!
A trip back to my childhood. Haven't had this in years but I will attempt it this weekend. So nice to see you.
Hi David - hope you try it and take a trip back in time! Enjoy!
Good to see you Kevin. Hope all is good. always get excited when I see a new one of your Videos. Im in the Middle of restoring a Kees Krawler tractor sprinkler. Ill send you a pic when done. Much Love from Colorado.
Hi Jason - thanks so much! The tractor sprinkler restoration sounds like an interesting and fun project! Great to hear from you!
I can't rightly say if I've ever had tapioca in my life! I know my mom never made it... she made plenty of regular pudding, but never tapioca.
Definitely an old fashioned dessert!! Something to try!!
Hope you are having a good summer!! Take care.
I have never had tapioca because my late mother hated it and said it looked like fish eggs. That ruined it for me!
@@wmalden 🤣😂🤣😅🤣

Manioc. I love tapioca pudding, in bubble tea and my mother taught me to use the instant kind like you used as a thickener for apple pies. Good stuff.
Hi Jeffrey! Yes, this instant tapioca can be used in pies to thicken. Thanks!
I'd like more tapioca
Yum tapioca
Yes, yum!!
Looks good 👍
Thanks, Chris!
The tapioca pudding looked velvety-smooth & delicious. I noticed the "brand" of your stove is a reminder to "watch those calories." 😂
Hi CurlyQ - event though it says "Caloric" I think it adds calories to everything I cook on it! LOL! Thanks!
Oh ok got it
I like pudding skin.
Hi William - You're another fan of pudding skin! It's been fun seeing that some people really like it! Thanks!
@@cavalcadeoffood I also like pineapple pizza.
Goodness, I haven't had this in forever
Hi Lisa - it will take you back!
This is not something I have ever made or eaten. Thanks for showing how it's done!
Hi Nancy - if you ever see it offered at a restaurant give it a try and see if you like it! Thanks!
I know a lot of people don't like tapioca, but I like it much better then rice pudding. I never had it, but I read where people loved the tapioca pudding you could get at the Kmart cafeteria.
Hi Scooter! Oh I remember the KMart cafeteria! Like you, I would pick tapioca over rice pudding, but I love them both. Thanks!
Oops, forgot to ask. Can spiced rum be mixed into this recipe? Hello to Ralph. Thanks for the camera work Maryann.
Hi Sallie - I think you could mix some spiced rum into the pudding, but at the end once you take it off the heat. Thanks!
Ok, I just made a batch of tapioca pudding! It only took 10 days after your video. 😄 It’s a shame that life is too busy for minute tapioca. It’s hard to wait for it to cool!
Hi Anna! So glad you made some tapioca!
@@cavalcadeoffood 2 batches in 2 days! One wasn’t enough. Thanks again!
Did it come to a boil ?

He should be an animated character
OK!

Hi Tallboyyyy - yes, I still have that Westinghouse Terrace Top stove. It was in one of my Detroit homes which I no longer have. Thanks!
How about some nutmeg
Nutmeg would be nice in this pudding. Thanks!

Perhaps some peanut butter might go well with it.
Hi Mike - it would melt and blend in just fine. If you like the peanut butter taste it would be worth trying. Thanks!
When my daughter was little, I teased her by saying tapioca was spider eggs, and she can't eat it to this day 🙂
🤣
LOL - I think that would have put me off on tapioca, too!
Why does mare sound young
First! Lol.
Yay! You're first, Susan!
