You should consider putting a Zero or Barita system on board which is simply a pitcher with a filter. I like to Zero better as it gets to 0 TDS so marina water - no problem! You get extra filters as they last about six months and the Zero system also when it slows down you just squeeze the filter and it burps air bubble and starts flowing again.

Attaching the autopilot close to the hinge of the tiller will increase the forces, noise and heat and I’m not sure insulating it would be a great move either for heat dissipation reasons even with venting… I think most of the problems of the autopilot comes from them turning rotational motion into linear via a rack and pinion type set up. I would’ve thought there’d be one with a pulley type set up like the more integrated ones in the engine bay of other ships I’ve seen but in a bolt on above deck style

Drag is a small boat and navigating the open sea. Sailing with a bigger boat is a completely different sport. Even if it has full equipment and navigation, automatic sails, it's boring like many shots in which female sailors in swimsuits are the only interesting ones.

Very cool, Sam.There are some great backpacking water filters now that you could use to filter out all the crap out, so you don't have to carry all that water. Just a thought. I'm always in awe of the sailing solo overnight. Is it ever scary? Or were you nervous in the beginning when you did it? Thanks for taking us on the ride.

Really interesting to hear your experiences with the Pelagic. I'd be interested to know how it fairs power consumption wise against Simrad.

900$ what's it got inside. Some really big chips with 1 or 2 button inputs. Use software to create extra buttons. OK, get them buttons. 2000$

Sam, when you’re experiencing these different countries & cities - do you ever tap into the difference in their cultures? For example - the way the people you motored by were looking at your boat seemed much different than how we in the states would react. Have you noticed any major differences across your travels?

Your winch is suffering from Sahara rain syndrome. You can never be rid of the bloody stuff!

Hey Sam been following your journey for a while and really enjoy your videos! At 3:43 on the bright side less buttons to stop working at sea.
