Guys lol i know it’s catcher in the rye!! I got caught up in the painting when doing the title and missed a C. I guess at some point i also SAID “cather”, it must have been stuck in my head after i noticed my mistake. I’m aware that’s not the actual title hahaha
I couldn’t agree more on using too big of a sketchbook. I also feel like when there are a ton of pages, by halfway through I’m over it. I just started this same Strathmore sketchbook and I’ve been enjoying it so far. Love your videos. Very inspiring
Love it! As others noted, you accidentally left out a "c" in "Catcher". Also, I think the reason you have difficulty using yourself as reference, isn't because your face is so different, it is because you are so familiar with your face, when you change it, it goes into that uncanny valley, where it looks ALMOST like you, but not quite, and that makes it look off/weird.
Isn’t it catcher in the rye? 🤔🤷🏼♀️ I love this piece and the pastel yellow shade you’ve chosen! I’d love to do more acrylic in my sketchbook but the pages stuck together once and it scared me 😂
I’m not sure what kind of acrylic you use but matte acrylic minimizes this problem! One thing I started doing is applying a thin layer of modpodge on one of the pages and that’s helped me
hey girlie! i think u should stop criticizing yourself and your art so much! you're a great artist and ppl love watching your content!! i've noticed that u put your skills down and question your creativity a lot. maybe have a separate sketchbook that's literally for just dumping ideas/bad sketches down. that's helped me a lot with perfectionism. i call it my trash sketchbook lol just some advice but keep it up, you're inspiring and you're talented!! 🌟💖
hope your surgery goes smooth and uneventful and everything settles down (whatever is 🙂) I need to use a sketchbook more, every time i see you work on yours I want to grab one but then forget too lol really like the pose here, makes you stop and try to figure out what is going on🙂🙃
yay!! amazing final piece I really adore the yellow/orange, I get why you gravitated towards it, its really nice to look at lol looking forward to the tour! :D
Please let me know if you turn this into a print! I first read catcher in the rye in 7th grade when my stepdad said it was his favorite book. He passed away in 2019 and since then I’ve cherished my copy of the book. Basically all I’m trying to say is I’d love to buy this print if you do make it into one
Shout-out to Holden Caulfield!! I only realized you were having your subject read "Catcher in the Rye" once you started the lettering. If I remember correctly, the title is "Catcher..." and alludes to catching children to save them from falling. I noticed your misspelling after I heard you say "Cather...". The beautifully captured pose makes the subject seem super-into the book. Was the book choice meaningful as a seminal coming-of-age novel for the character and often for those reading it, or was it an offhand choice? Just wondering.
The funky posture while doing mundane things oddly resonates with me and feels fresh since it isn't something I see represented in art often. 🥨 Also, your confidence in painting flesh tones is insane!

If you use Acrylic gouache you won't have this problem! Might be worth a shot :)
I was about to say the same thing. She did leave out a C, yeah.
yeah i noticed that too🤣

3:57 Sorry, I was wondering if you could tell me how this markup/grid is called. I only recently started seeing that artists use this before painting.
A grid is just a grid. But some fundamental concepts that include grids, are things like the rule of thirds or perspective drawing. Hope that helps.
