I completely lost my sketchbook spark a while ago, but quite recently it slowly came back until it was in full bloom and I filled about 14 pages in 5 days! (well, the book was about to be finished and I was extra motivated. Some pages are just mindless doodles or color swatches in fun shapes) I unpacked my new sketchbook yesterday and I'm aiming to finish it till end of the year. I'll also have to work on building a portfolio since I now know I want to become an art therapist! (or whatever it's called in English) Exciting things
This video made us excited about sketching! We also just realized that we need to treat ourselves to some new stickers- a sketchbook really is a more cheerful place to draw with a few stickers on the cover!
I went to Gatlinburg, TN recently which has gorgeous mountain sights, but I hardly took any photos to use for art, but luckily I’m going up to Michigan very soon, so I won’t make that mistake again, maybe I’ll even do sketchbook art there if I have the time.
watching ur vids have been inspiring me 2 draw in my sketchbook more also sometime in may i bought the strathmore sketchbook sam 1 as urs but smaller and i am IN LOVE w/ it the paper is literally amazing :))
"I missed Florida" you lost me until you said you missed the beach and being near the ocean and I immediately understood haha... OH I WANT YOUR BIG PALETTE it looks like a big white durian...
your videos always bring me motivation to draw!!! i have an ear infection rn and have been staying in bed for the last 3 days but after seeing your video i really just had to get up and do something (´。• ᵕ •。`)
Do you skip pages in this sketchbook? I just started the same brand of sketchbook (you inspired me) and the alcohol markers ghost a lot. Just curious because I didn’t notice that was the case for yours when you were working on these spreads?
Not Al, but alcohol markers do ghost almost universally in this sketchbook - you can see it happened to Al at 18:36. She's talked previously about covering it up with gouache (like she does in this video), markers, etc but it's a pretty high effort process so I'm pretty sure she's also talked about skipping pages before too.
@@kterade thanks. I posted the comment while she was still working through her trip images and then saw where she went over the ghosted page with the orange gouache later on. Almost deleted my comment but left it in case others had a similar inquiry.
@@RachelleByersArt Sorry, I was just making conversation! It's absolutely a worthwhile question. I feel personally wasteful when I skip pages, but I love alcohol markers so I've tried to look for less labor intensive solutions.
@@kterade don’t be sorry. It was value added and I appreciate the convo!! I also hate skipping a page but then also fear messing up a page I love that I did in alcohol markers with a backside in gouache…it’s a double edged sword. I’m new to this type of sketchbook so was looking for advice. Thank you for helping with that.
lol! my MIL would kill you if she was on a suspension bridge with you running around, she is terrified of them, i love them too tho. Anything with heights and i am there 😀
omg my grandparents live in the same area i grew up doing everything you did!

When you mentioned thin mountain art that resonated with me so hard because I’m a Floridian born and raised and when I visit anywhere I can’t breathe

Sometimes she sticks some drawings or other things over these pages too, to cover the ghosting
