HALF AS HEAVY BUT TWICE AS FUN
After a few days of work in an overgrown area, my medium-sized chainsaw (Husqvarna 562/8 kilos) seemed too big and heavy a saw for all the small cuts at ground level. I needed a much smaller / lighter saw for branching logs and cutting down bushes and small tree. The lightest professional Stihl MS 201 C-M with 35.2 cm2 and only 4 kilos ... that's what I needed - and then it became fun too!

Efter et par dages arbejde i et tilgroet område virkede min mellemstore motorsav (Husqvarna 562/8 kg) for stor og tung en sav til alle de små snit i jordenhøjde. Jeg havde brug for en meget mindre / lettere sav til afgrening og fældning af buske og små træer. Den letteste professionelle Stihl MS 201 C-M med 35,2 cm2 og kun 4 kg ... var det, jeg havde brug for - og så blev det ligefremt sjovt!

How is your MS 201 C-EM holding up? I just bought one, it can do more than I thought. Cleared a large group of 12” or less diameter Honey Locusts trees, no issues at all. Week long job. Kept the chain sharp, used 1 new chain up on the job, and started a 2nd new chain, finished the job. I’m impressed with this little pro saw. I think STIHL has the M-Tronics worked out! At least on this saw for sure.
Hey Kelly! I have had exact the same experience and now it's always a part of the job. It a great saw with plenty of power. The best thing about it all is that my back will not be so smashed the following day. I've also climbed with it, and it provides great ergonomics with less load on the elbows and wrists, compared to 201 without rear handle. I'm very pleased with both Stihl and Husqvarna ... but if the saw has to be turned on and off many times in one day, I prefer Shihl ...if the Husqvarna has only been switched off for a short time, you often have to perform the entire cold start procedure again ...slightly annoying ...Husqvarna's advantages lie elsewhere! hagenoft Get one! I bought one, using it a lot. 10-16 hours per week of use. No issues at all. You really can use this saw all day, without fatigue, no hand shock. It can handle 12” or less diameter hardwood without issues. Just keep a sharp chain, and let it cut, slight pressure, don’t force cut. It’s not a 460!

Hi kjyuiop! I have also had a 462 (fine saw) ...here you have found a really light, good and small saw for branching etc.
Stihl offers an air fleece filter to avoid dust ingestion with some woods in this model.

Hi Tim! It still runs perfectly though it rattles a bit more now. I still prefer to use it on the ground, at the same dimensions as I use the top held 201 in the tree. The chainsaw doctor adjusted it some time after the purchase and again once more since 2018 and then it leaks a bit of chain oil from the refill ...it is done with a newspaper as a base in the vehicle, but it probably needs a new rubber ring and plug the most. Recommendation? ...Yep, I buy the same saw when my little friend runs out of power!!!

I was not able to find it in your past videos, but would you be able to show me how you tie off to the limb that you were cutting off so that you can lower It To The Ground. What kind of knots or hitches you use? Thank you

Hej Bjørn! Ja, det er et fantastisk job! Spændende udfordrende fysisk udendørs arbejde. Der er desværre ikke mange job/virksomheder der har en ansat arborist, så derfor starter mange som selvstændige ...og om man er parat til dét skal man også tage med i betragtningen. De mange små enkeltmandsfirmaer arbejder så sammen på kryds og tværs.

Yes about 1 kilo!
Clean Cuts
MS 150 is a great saw, but its best used for pruning. Above all it needs to have a very sharp chain maintained. I’ve found it does not force cut, it is immediately noticeable when the chain starts to dull. it will bog.
It’s also so light, it will kick back easier. Definitely a great micro saw!
