    The best thing about you is that, unlike a lot of people who are, or have done a van build, there is 0% bitching or one-up manship. There's just honesty, hiccups, laughter, sharing of the work, integrity and respect. I can't think of a nicer team. Not brown nosing just saying it like it is.

    • @TheRollingRucks

    That was great. It had everything, including questioning, er-ummin, coo-er, really? disappointment and realism. But what it also had was all smiles and laughter plus your bonny optimistic outlook. I've a feeling this one's going to be a bit of alright!
    You take care... and the Little People too and we'll hope to see you soon. Keep your enthusiasm. That, aswell as happiness, will get you where you want to go.
    Here's to your next film... but DON'T RUSH!! with love, Pam

    We are also building a VW Crafter for 5. 3 adults + 2 kids. 3 seats in cab, fold away double seat behind the driver. Fridge and microwave behind the front passenger. Bench seats with a table at rear converting to transverse double. Overhead double bed longitudinal at rear on linear actuators. Shower loo on drivers side. This layout allows seating around a table, and more bench space - above fridge, passenger side with sink and a little behind the shower. But we put 3 into a double bed or one in a pup tent. A hack I like is to extend the floor over the side and rear step voids, then recut in a smaller side step. This gives more floor space and stops stuff from dropping down and being inaccessible. Underbody water tanks specific to the Crafter ladder frame look good.

    Just a quick question for you both; as Stu likes to relax and spread out in the M/H rear lounge, won't it feel a bit claustrophobic in the van? That is the reason my wife and I bought our Burstner Lyseo M 690 G instead of a van conversion. Although we are in our late 50's.

      Thank you ;-) we will have to make do as having a lounge too would lose the garage space which we would definitely need. Also, planning on being abroad so hopefully not to many rainy days well not like wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 XxRR

      @@TheRollingRucks I would think about sides and a front for the fold out awning ? Some sort of wrap round lightweight flyscreen, velcro to the top and bead lead type weights to the bottom for very fast put around and take down e.g. could even sleep in it on warm nights on a blowup bed. only a thought 🧐 good luck on your innovative van 🙏

      We don’t have a sketch on our layout but will start building it very soon. Is it a MWB you have?

  • @HeliGav78
    @HeliGav78 2 года назад +1

    Loving the build!!! we're just about pull the trigger on a MWB and done loads of research. Wondered if you've considered the ?sills they are renowned for rusting/filling with water. Theres a few videos of this on youtube where the plastic side panels leak where they are clipped on, these usually need sealing...also any idea how your getting on with the weight when youve finished the work, and fully loaded with the family/water etc.....just curious about your opinion for when we do ours??? Cheers guys!!!!

      Hi Gavin, we have the MAN version of the crafter not the sprinter version which is know for the leaky cills. We are using lightweight ply and saving on weight wherever we can including not using wood to frame cabinets where possible. Once it’s completed we will take it to the weighbridge and hope for the best. If it’s over I will up plate it and do the C1 XxRR
