  • Rafael Morales (1919-2006)
Rafael Morales came to the United States from his native Oaxaca in the 1940s, working his way up the Central Valley until he found a truck filled with braceros bound for Sonoma County to pick prunes. Befriended by a Windsor rancher, he stayed to become the ranch foreman -- even as it converted to grapes -- and a leader in the Latino Community.

Voices of Sonoma County-The Oral History Project
The Museum of Sonoma County holds an archive of video oral history recordings conducted by Gaye LeBaron over a period of 25 years. Over 30 Sonoma County residents graciously consented to sit before the cameras and tell their stories. With the help of technology, we are able to share these stories for generations to come.
These oral histories are expressions of the memories and perspectives of the interviewee, and the perspective of the interviewer. They do not necessarily represent the views or policy of the Museum of Sonoma County.
