Clearest, most concise instructions I've yet found on RUclips, thank you!
I have watched dozens of mala making videos. Your's is one of the very best. Concise. Logical. Good, but not tooo much, detail. Clear staging and videography. As a learning professional, I can truly say, Good Work!
I've watched a few videos before I found yours. I was nearly put off trying to do it myself bc the instructions had been so overly complicated. Just wanted to thank you for taking the time to succinctly demonstrate this in a way that clicked for me. ✌️
I just completed mine and couldn’t have done it without your excellent instructions. Thanks. Pat
What a clear, concise upload with great videography!
Thank you so much!!! 🙏💜
Out of all the tutorials, this one was by far the easiest to follow. After being confused by the first 5, this immediately gave sense to all the other needlessly complicated video tutorials. I should have started out here but than I probably wouldn’t have appreciated this one as much. Thank you for teaching me how to do this 🙏
Refreshing to find instruction that is clear, concise & easy to follow...so much unnecessarily complicated methods out there, yours was perfect ~ thank you !
Thank you so much for your patience. Love the way you explain the sets to make this mala.

Hello! You are an awesome teacher! I had watched others, but still couldn't manage these knots! But you showed precisely what to do and have taken some of the mystery out of making Mala! Thank you for sharing! Namaste.😊
Thank you. You explained it better than most. Loved the lighter idea, it worked beautifully!

Thank you very much- I was checking youtube for some visual on getting started- you made the process simple and straightforward- I don't think those knots at the ends would be very difficult- you demonstrated them perfectly! Thanks again. Warm Regards.
Thanks Laurie!!

What size cord do you use? I have 1 mm and can get it through 8 mm beads but can’t get two cords through 3 hole guru bead???? Thanks.

Hi
Very good clear instructions 🤗
Wonderful knotting instructions - thank you!!
So beautifully detailed. Thank you so much!
Beautiful, Thank you. Buddha bless you.
Thank you so much.
Excellent instructions. Thank you. Namaste.
Your video is so clear and helpful. Thank you. I'm making my first mala but I have to wait on guru beads to arrive in the mail. So I can practice on little knots.
Thank you!
How many beads should a wrist mala have?
I've seen 12 beads, 17, and even 19 beads. The only assumption I can make is that the number should be able to be divided into the traditional 108 beads evenly.
(e.g. 108÷12=9, 108÷18=6, etc)
And the guru bead is not actually counted and is more of a place holder.
If there is a deeper meaning regarding the number of beads, I would love to know.
Thank you for this video, the information you presented was exactly what I needed.
As I watched you tie the slider knot it looked very familiar, it's the same knot I have used to make Chinese teapot braids between the handle and lid. I found I would get lost tying it as to which side was which side and finally put a small knot at the end of the strand that first goes under the two center strands (the right strand you started the knot with). That way when I got lost, I could find where I was and I didn't have to start over -- I took a while to figure this out.
Thank you again. _/\_ 马丁云山
This video was incredibly helpful. Thank you so much!!

Very nice instructions. My 1st time watching. Ty
AWESOME explanation, thank you so much for this, Namaste 🙏🏻
Thanks for the kind feedback Joyce
Great video, I like how you burned the end to needle it, that solves alot of problems. 💀
Thank you, great tutorial! 💗🙏💗
Best explanation I've seen!
I used to be able to make the lama/guru knot on a mala. However since my mini stroke in 2011 I haven't been able to do it any longer. I am looking to do it for my 108 bead mala as the cord broke after many years use. However, even this video is a bit too fast for me though I enjoy watching it.
Play it in 0.25 speed!
Robert Kleijn 108 beads represent the 108 mantras
He makes it look easy- Thank you
Thank you
Gorgeous! Thank uuu! Namaste!
Fabulous tutorial! Thank you, well done!

Thank you, very much, did mine today.
Thank you very much, this is really most helpful!
Thank you so much. Love it.
Could u attach other things to the end instead of the little knots at the end? Like say a tassel?
Please check out his web page for some truly incredible stuff! www.pinklotus.co.uk/index.asp
What size cord do you use for this. I am making a 8mm beads mala, I am not sure the wide of the cord, 1mm, 1.2mm or 1.5mm. Many thanks in advance
1mm cord is fine for 8mm beads
Many thanks
Thank you 💙 I don't and can't find guru beads.. what should I do?
I fear that mala beads are becoming a fashion in th west. Imsee alot of people wearing thrm just for the "look". It disappoints me
Thanks again for sharing :-).
Lovely, Thank you
Great tutorial.
where can you buy mala cord, beads (I like rudraska and tiger eye), and funnel
How man mm is the thread? Is this 1mm thread?
Could you do the knot with only two strings rather than 4? At the same speed as other videos are way too fast, besides I've only got one eye.
Is that wire in the cord? What type of cord?
What kind of cord and where can I get it?
That awesome ty
Where can I buy the clear pieces that go for the bracelet M3 clear pieces
Thanks. One of my peeves with my mala is that it always loosens up after a month of use, even when strung on cord that is not supposed to stretch. This should allow me to tighten the mala as needed... unless the sliding knot somehow gets too slippery. Well, we will see. I will be doing this today.
OK, I did this. Took the mala for a test spin, and it seems to be working. I should drop back in a month and report again. Attractive knots.
Hi I always make sure I knot the slipknot tightly. Its always better to be too tight than too slack. Hope this helps
Thank You. Iam a newby....
thank you so much fot this and your other videos! One question: can I use waxed cotton cords for this also?
💚💛🧡🙏🕉
I see that you are burning the ends of the string. I am using silk thread for my beading and it's not working. Can you give some pointers?
Maybe close your mala with a snake knot? It's not adjustible, but until a couple of years ago that was the standard knot for Tibetan Buddhist malas. You'll find a lot of tutorials on youtube, just search for paracord snake knot.
I love them big I just want to know how to make them can you make them clear beads the three clear beads and I'd like to know where you get them from what store please comment me back I'm a jewelry maker
If you search online for "guru beads" or "t beads" wholesale, you should be able to buy them cheap. They're available on Amazon, Etsy, etc.
Are the Beads 8mm or 10mm? Thank's for the Video!
Where did you got the gold blanket ?
Instead of cutting the string and burning the end of the knots could I just leave some cord hanging down past the braided knots without sealing the ends of the knots? Thank you
Yes you can do that. I'm not sure it may get a little frayed but its fine to improvise as you prefer!!
Hi there, Thank you. Can you please make a small video about Buddha statues and how to clean them?. I got some brass statues, which do not looks so nice anymore and some covered with gold.
What does that have to do with THIS video?
Might wanna speak louder or adjust your mic. Had to increase my volume from 15 to 35 just to hear you.
I think you may be using special cord (you called it "mala cord") because not all thread or cord can be burned to create the needle-like ends or the little melted knots you get when you burn it. So, can you tell me the exact brand info. for the cord you are using? Thanks very much.
The cord is referred to as mala cord and bought in Nepal. It doesn't have a particular brand name. You can find it here - www.pinklotus.co.uk/view_shop.asp?cat=14&subcat=127&subcategory=Prayer-Mala-Cord
Thank you, Gary!
Hello great Video! What MM bead are you using? Sorry if i missed you saying already :)
Hi Brad, these are 8mm beads
Pink Lotus thank you for reply. That’s the size I use...great video
Is that just fine nylon chord? What do I buy????????
You can find our mala cord here - pinklotus.co.uk/product-category/mala-beads-jewellery/prayer-mala/page/2/
@@PinkLotusThangka I don't put money over the internet - I'd rather send check, money order etc.. call me old fashioned
Is it bad luck to take your bracelet off ?
What size beads, please? 8mm?
Hi Jody. Yes these are 8mm beads.
what size thread did you use?
I used 1mm Size A Thread. I would only use 2mm Size B on a big bead like Bodhi Seed
ruby07241 you can find this in Chinese jewelry places
What kind of thread are you using here?
We use a 1mm cord that can be burnt in a way as to make a needle like end or to burn off knot excess. You can find it on our website at - www.pinklotus.co.uk/view_shop.asp?cat=14&subcat=127&subcategory=Prayer-Mala-Cord
@@PinkLotusThangka Thank you for the very helpful video. Just made my first sliding knot! Also, thank you for the link to the thread you've used.
