Is This Scottish Hotel HAUNTED or Just Creepy? The Truth of the Drover Inn.

  • Today our video is on the Drover Inn, Scotland. The Drover Inn was built in 1705 and was originally built as a resting place for the drovers (a person who moves groups of animals (such as cattle or sheep) from one place to another) to rest before taking the animals to market. Our visit was during late October (in case you're wondering about the Halloween decorations) . We researched and planned our stay ahead of time but on their website they only list a few of the ghosts that are said to haunt the property. We learned the morning after our stay about the commonly seen "man in black" While we hadn't heard or seen any stories of the man in black until I saw him in our room and asked a staff member about it the next morning. I thought I was having a VERY real dream, but also was able to move, look around, and also check my phone to see the time. I woke up in the night and there was an older man who was very tall, dressed all in black, standing by my bed. He was wearing what looked to me like a tuxedo. By the time I checked my phone and saw that it was 3:17 am and looked back, the man in black was gone. When we asked the staff member the next day, she was quick to bring us to some photographs of the man in black. They believe it to be one of the original owners of the Inn. When I filmed the segment the next morning I was really hesitant to claim seeing a ghost. Until I heard how many other people had seen him.
    The Drover's Inn website:
The Drovers Inn is rumored to be one of the most haunted hotels in Britain! We have had many tales of ghouls and ghosts coming to visit people at The Drovers. Read the stories and tell us your own encounters by emailing us at info@thedroversinn.co.uk
    Ghost Stories
In the late 18th century, in the winter of 1792, the year which later became known as ‘The Year of the Sheep’. A young crofting family were forcibly removed from where they lived; their landlords having decided that the land would turn more of a profit, if it was used for sheep farming.
With nowhere to live, and little money or means to support their young child, the family had no option other than to head south in the hope of creating a new life for themselves in the Scottish lowlands, or maybe even emigrate to one of the new worlds.
On their long journey south in the winter months, one night they got caught in a heavy snowstorm. They had been trying to reach shelter and safety at The Drovers Inn. However, with the visibility very poor, and the family being exhausted from their journey, they took a wrong path somewhere on the way. Their journey ends in tragedy, with the family freezing to death while wandering the land, desperately trying to get back on the track that leads to The Drovers Inn.
    Ghostly Reports from Room 6
The story of the little girl that drowned is also told in the video. But guests of the hotel say that they can sometimes feel a chill in the air in room 6, an icy cold small hand touching them in their sleep, or the feeling of the weight of a small child crawling into bed with them.
    Ancient Cattle Drover
Over three hundred years ago, when cattle drovers regularly stopped off at the Inn, on their way south to the cattle markets. One particular young drover called ‘Angus’ was resting his cattle for the night.
After a long and tiresome trek from the highlands, he was glad for some rest, and enjoyed the hospitality offered to him. It could be said that he over indulged, because the following day, he woke later than planned. Only to find that rival clan members, upon seeing the night before, young Angus sampling the many ales and malts on offer, had made off with his cattle in the middle of the night.
With no cattle, or bag of crowns and shillings in their place, young Angus had no option but to go back to the highland chieftain that he was delivering the cattle for and explain his loss. The highland chieftain was known to be ruthless and unforgiving, and on hearing this news, made a point of slaughtering poor Angus’s family and young sweetheart. Then banishing Angus from the clan in dishonour.
With nowhere for Angus to go he roamed the highlands for months planning on how he could exact his revenge on the rival clan members that had stolen his cattle on that fateful night. Eventually his rage led Angus back to The Drovers, where the original crime had taken place.
On seeing members from the rival clan, he hid in waiting, for his moment to take his revenge. However, a member of the rival clan had spotted him earlier, and forewarned his fellow thieves of Angus’s hiding place.
In the cold of the night, they soon set about Angus, and murdered him in cold blood by hanging him from the old tree behind the Inn, and bleeding him, like the cattle, they had stolen before.

Footage was filmed on an iphone 11 pro max on a gimble in 4k, a DJI Mini 2 drone in 4k, and added stock footage. All footage was taken with permission and on land with permission.

Those accounts are both creepy and fascinating. Room 6 seems like it'd be terrifying to experience. If I ever felt a cold hand and someone getting into bed with me, where there was no one to be seen, the next soul to haunt that room would be me!

the scottish ghouls of the drovers inn don’t like americans. firstly. secondly. i was staying a night there in 1983. on my travels from stirling to fort william to visit my mother. in my kip, i awoken to my legs twisted clockwise. i tried to scramble from my bed in horror, but i was cut short from the unnatural angle of my legs. the doctors tried to pronounce me with polio, but i told them that it was a ghoul they then sent me to broadmore hospital, famous for housing notorious murderers. i soon escaped, and am now living in vengeance towards this inn. i was there for a pint with an old pal, john. in my time having a pint, i was on edge. breeze blowing past my face, knocks on the walls. i was unwanted in the presence of this inn. John, whom was never seen again after our visit to the inn. had ended up with 3 scratched down his groin. i hope you americans are aware of this barbarric ghoul. safe travels ❤️

I stayed a night there a few years ago whilst filming with a crew in the area. I was in the room you can see directly above the entrance. I took a phone pic of my four poster bed for posterity. The photo revealed a blue orb like light floating above the bed. I haven't slept with the lights on since I was a kid, I sure did that night. 😳

A cynical person might think these bullshit stories were invented to entertain gullible American tourists.
It’s a pity you never managed to video the ‘ghost ‘but they always seem to be camera shy .
I’m actually going there today , I’ll keep a look out for the man in black
