- Hello everyone, hope you are all enjoying your weekend. Another unboxing from @Beyondthepinkdoorthank you Andrea and the girls!
Enjoy everyone! Will be back soon with some actual sewing - promise!
Lots of love, Karen xx
karen,i think that colour fabric will really suit you,and a zadie would look lovely in that.xx Jean.
Aw thank you Jean. I've washed it now and I must say the more I see it the more I like it. Thanks for watching lovely 🥰xx
Sorry you had a bad night but was excited to open your box I think the fabric is lovely and would make a nice floaty summer dress or as mentioned a Kaftan be perfect for your holidays Can’t wait to see what you come up with Hope you feel better soon 🌹❤️
Aw thank you Evelyn, I did look a bit of a state didn't I? 😂 I have had a better nights sleep so feel more rested today, Kaftan or robe is still my top choice, but I am hopeless at decisions. Thanks for watching lovely, have a super week. 🥰xx
Gday. Hope all is good with you? A flattened Weetabix, that was too funny 🤣🤣If you are not sure to make day wear, maybe night wear, PJ's, or a robe? Whatever you decide, look forward to seeing what you make 🤩Really like your Coffee/Tea cup 😍Thanku 'sew' much for sharing. Ana 🪡✂🧵🙂x
Hiya Ana, a Robe was top of my list but (spoiler alert) I have cut something out - it's quite random and no one suggested it. I just needed to get something started and cut out otherwise the material would have still been in my stash this time next year! I think the cup was just from a local supermarket a few years ago but thank you. Have a good week with lots of sewing. 🥰💖xx
@@karensewsslowly No sewing for me at all, been like this for weeks. xx
Love the video & all the bits, especially the soap. I think the fabric would make a great caftan or long beach cover up - ideal for long hot summer days. 😊
I have chosen something! and cut it out so there's no going back planning to reveal all soon, not today (Sat) though as I'm off out for late lunch and a cheeky beverage - probably just have a nana nap when I come back - wouldn't dare sew under the influence of alcohol 🤣🥰xx
Hi Karen
Nice fabric i like the green a jumpsuit would look lovely made up in that fabric
I’ve never had a subscription box i can’t imagine how i would feel having fabric sent not knowing what i was getting especially if its not my style
Have a good weekend Karen xx❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi Paula, That's the exact same reason I get the boxes because I would literally buy the same type of fabric, colour etc and probably make Zadie jumpsuits all year round - I am even the same in shops on the odd occasion I go shopping now (for clothes) I make a bee-line for the blues and pinks I really have to force myself to look at other colours! 🥰xx
Yes the zadie is a lovely pattern and it looks so smart on you Karen xx❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi Karen even half asleep you manage to make me smile / laugh , thank you for your lovely humour 😆, I agree with a lot of your other subscribers it would make a lovely kaftan style cover up for the beach or lounging in your beautiful garden , sure it will be lovely whatever you decide to make and you do love a zadie 💖Amanda xx
Honestly Amanda don't encourage me! 😂 Got so many ideas buzzing round my head now - a dog walk in the wind is needed I think and it is SO WINDY here today it blow the cobwebs away for sure. Have a lovely weekend 🥰xx
@@karensewsslowly you too Karen ,it’s windy here in Staffordshire too 🌬xx
I love that fabric, the green is gorgeous 💚
Thanks Jane - it is growing on me.... slowly! 🥰xx
I got the pink colourway. The green would have suited my colouring the best but I already have several outfits in exactly those colours of green and the pink was my favourite. I do love how it feels though. It feels gorgeously soft. Mine is destined to be a simple shift dress. I live in them all summer and recently realized that I need a few more, so it was quite timely. I think it will have a bit of a '60s or '70s vibe as a shift dress and I like that look. I likely wouldn't have bought it in a store either, but it grew on me after looking at it for a while, and it makes a nice change from the florals I usually make.
I agree it's the reason I got the Sewscription box to push me into other materials/designs etc so it's definitely doing that. Happy sewing 🥰xx
I would feel very 'loud' in that fabric especially at 5'3"... nope, not for me...this is what pots me off subscription boxes but everyone's different and they suit a lot of people. Thanks Karen
I agree it is a very bold print - maybe for a day when I'm not feeling insecure - more a day when I don't give a rats ass what anybody thinks?! 🤣🥰xx
Hi Karen. I like the colors of the fabric. Maybe a kimono robe or beach coverup?
Hi Kimberly, Yes I think a robe-type of thing is my first choice. I have a pattern for a robe already as I would prefer not to buy a new pattern as well as spending the money already on the box. Take care 🥰xx
The Demeter pattern is made by Anna Alan. It’s similar to the TATB Indigo dress but it has a lower scoop neck and is sort of empire line. It’s easy to make.
I'm off to check that out Ann, thank you 🥰xx
Hi , I love watching your videos.😋 I think it would be a cute 60s style dress.
You are so right Sarah, I can see it now that fabric is definitely a 60s print! Thank you for watchin🥰xxg
Hi Karen, 👋👋 I love that material but green is my favourite color anyway 😁👍 I think you should make a lovely summer dress for your holidays, that soap is beautiful as well, it’s made not far from me in killaloe it is lovely on the skin, enjoy, love your videos, can’t wait to see what you make, take care 😊
Hi Eileen, I used the soap yesterday and you are right it's beautiful - although mine was the Seaweed one it smells divine not like seaweed at all (thankfully!) 🤣I've had so many lovely suggestions of what to make I'm totally befuddled. You are so lucky living where you do - beautiful place! 🥰xx
I think the colour really suits you. A zadie would be lovely but interested to see what you do. I would never pick that fabric but when you held it up,cit looked gorgeous. Hope you get a better nights sleep and feel more rested.
Aw thank you. I did have a better night thank you - hasn't helped me make a decision though🙄more confused than ever with all the lovely ideas people have put forward. 🥰xx
A simple floaty dress or a mid calf lengh caftan. I think it looks lovely on you!
Thank you Cindy 🥰xx
I love watching the unboxing videos. I don’t get any subscription boxes, but they look like fun to receive. I would feel too much pressure as to what to make with the fabric. 😊
I know what you mean - I've never stopped thinking about what I could make all day, as opposed to getting on and doing something with it! 🥰xx
My thought was the same as yours...not a pattern I would choose...I am going to make the new pattern from Tilly n the buttons trouser and top, so I can mix and match. The jumpsuit was my second option. Good luck 😊
Hi Jackie - have to admit it is growing on me, and seeing Andrea in the green colour that I got has inspired me a bit more too. 🥰xx
I also got the green box and I don’t believe it’s my color. So I’ve come down to a pair of pants to wear around the house. But I’d probably wear them out for errands and such also.
I think we're all a little bit unsure of this fabric whether it be the pattern or colour - just not what I'm used to but you know whatever we end up making I bet we get lots of lovely comments on the garments when we wear them. Happy sewing 🥰xx
a shirt with a collar! loose easy shirt! green looks great on you
Aw thank you. Isn't it odd how we are drawn to certain colours and not others? Thank you for your suggestion and for watching 🥰xx
Hi Karen. Just to say I’m a similar colouring to you, skin an hair wise and I’ve just discovered how much I like green and how it suits me. I think it really does suit you too and the fabric would make a lovely kaftan for the summer. ❤😊
Hi Kay, I do like green just I did notice when I started sewing things for myself how little green I have in my Wardrobe, I think a Kaftan is my top option I may even have a pattern in my stash, as the subscription box is enough to pay without then forking out for a pattern aswell. Thank you 🥰xx
Hi Karen! I really like the fabric. It would make such a lovely dress!
Yes, I've now watched the little vlog that comes with the box and Andrea is wearing the green in a dress (can't remember which one) and it does look lovely - can't make a decision to save my life that's my trouble. 🥰xx
Good for you Karen.
That green fabric colours are gorgeous! A summer dress ... what's that beautiful Slip Dress? Saltwater slip dress.
I have cut something out - it's a bit random but I think it will be ok to wear on hols or in the garden. Thank you for your suggestion though, and for watching. Take care 🥰xx
Hi Karen, I think the colour really suits you, a dress would look nice but I think you have to put it aside for a little while until the right pattern comes to mind. I'm sure you will make the right choice, everything else you make is so nice. x
Ah thank you Rosie, having seen Andrea from @beyondthepinkdoor in her dress in the green colour way I can see it would be lovely really, I'm just an open book - can't hide emotions or what I think so when I do an unboxing you get and truly honest opinion, just frightened that if I put the fabric to one side for too long it'll never resurface! 😃🥰xx
Love the colour! Agree with caftan, long buttonup skirt suggestions. Tunic shirt?
Am liking all the suggestions I've had and the colour is growing on me the more I look at it. It may be one of those fabrics that I love more when it's made up into something. Thanks Gerry 🥰xx
Love the colour don't know if I would the design just a thought the Dressmakers closet has a new pattern out a long skirt i think it might suit thanks for the video
You are very welcome Robyn. I will check that pattern out, I've washed the fabric now and it's airing and the more I look at it the more I like it. 🥰xx
I tried boxes from two company's but I've never really liked the fabric. It's a lot of money, so I prefer to buy fabric I like. Hope you can make something nice with it.
It is expensive but hubby has his season ticket and golf fees so it's only fair I have my little treat too 😉 Plus as I reasoned with myself it stops me buying clothes if I make my own 🤔 although I'm not quite at the me-made entire wardrobe stage yet but when I go shopping I do think "I could make that cheaper" and sometimes (depending on the shop!) I think "I could make that and make a better job of it". 🥰xx
I had the same colour as you Karen. I wouldn’t have chosen this fabric in a shop, but I love it. I’m going to make a Demeter dress.
@@anncasseldine9673 I've never heard of that one who makes the pattern? 🥰xx
That is gorgeous fabric ❤make a beautiful caftan for summer😊
I think this is what I'm leaning towards after Ruan @theworkshiresewgirl suggested a wrap for holidays, thank you 🥰xx
Colour does suit you x
Aw thank you Theresa 🥰xx
How about a simple swing dress with the busy fabric? Just a thought. 😊
I would love a swing dress - there's just not quite enough fabric there for my size and the length I would need - but do plan to make a swing dress at some point. Thanks Jo 🥰xx
You and I seem to have the same sleeping patterns. I hate it! The worst is sitting next to a person who is dozing happily, and you are staring at the dark. At my age I usually toddler off to the bathroom for a few minutes, but then I just wait till it comes back. Here’s hoping we both sleep a little better in the future. I’m sending you all energy.
I'm sort of used to it now. It's partially an inherited thing from my Mam and Dad and partially chemo side affects such as Acid reflux and neuropathy in my feet and hands - however I have a sneaking suspicion that last night was excitement due to receiving a text saying my box would be delivered this morning - may be ??? Wishing you a good night tonight as well my dear 🥰xx
@@karensewsslowly I am not going through anything like you are but I did have skin cancer removed from my nose this week. Unfortunately, it was quite a large spot and they had to do a skin graft. So I’ve been up and down and around with that for the last couple of nights. I find as I get older it’s harder to sleep through the night. And menopause still makes me do strange things even though I’m 10 years through it.
a lovely flowing skirt and pair with a white tank top
A skirt is definitely a better idea than pants - don't see clowns in skirts 😂🥰xx
Hi, I'm just checking in. I hope all is well? ?missing your brilliant vlogs ❤
A top with shirting around the waist and peplum? Eg Mabel by Tilly and the Buttons
I do have the Mabel pattern.......🤔 Thank you 🥰xx
Hi Karen, I got the pink and was going to make another Zadie. I do love the green though. I'm not a huge pink fan.
The first Zadie I made I made it as a toile as I wasn't keen on the material (I'd ordered it on line and it looked a little different to the pic) but once I'd made it up I really liked it - I suppose that is something which comes with years of sewing and fabric buying that you develop 'an eye' for what things will look like made up? Perhaps I just need to buy more fabric 🤔😂 Good luck with your make let me know if it changes your mind. I'm trying to resist another Zadie 😬 🥰xx
@@karensewsslowly Karen I've already changed my mind and I'm going to make the Saguaro Trousers and Donny Shirt (Faux Jumpsuit) as my husband loved my other Donny Shirts. Won't get much done just now as I tripped and broke a bone in my back at the weekend. So I will have to rely on you vloggers to give me my sewing fix until I recover. Keep the vlogs coming Karen!!!
@@libbykilpatrick1578 oh no you poor thing keep taking the pain killers and I will try a keep the vlogs coming so you don’t get bored. Wishing you a speedy recovery 🥰xx
How about a swimsuit coverup? Caftan like garment? You can get away with these types of fabrics around a pool! I got the purple colorway. Judi got the green colorway and Rachel from Stitched Up got the pink colorway. Won’t it be fun to see what everybody sews up! Hugs from Oregon…
Hi Karen. Colour really suits you I think. What about a Zadie. Fabric looks very 60’s 🤓🏴
Eeh Mags as I said to Amanda - don't encourage me! 😂🥰xx
The green fabric would look great as a dress, but I am partial to dresses.😅
I agree Zelda but there isn't quite enough for me to make a dress as I like them to be longer - at least Midi length. Planning to vlog soon to do a big reveal of what I have chosen. 🥰xx
@karensewsslowly I look forward to seeing it! I have to have a lot of fabric to make dresses also because I like them mid-calf and I am a tall larger lady. 🫠The 2 dresses I made, the Rivermont dress from Cashmerette, are a little below my knees, but they look beautiful. When I sit down, it's not too short.
Could you make a sleeveless summer shift dress from the fabric?
Maybe for someone else yes! 🤣My hideous knees, wobbly batwing arms and varicose veins wouldn't really allow for a shift dress but I have just watched Ruan @theyorkshiresewgirl and she suggested a robe for holidays which is a lovely idea. Would wear a shift type dress on holiday tho' so perhaps I will think on that for a while 🤔 Thanks Loo 🥰xx
@@karensewsslowly my pleasure! Thank you for the video! PS I’m 69 so not exactly a super model either lol 😂 lol
The colour does suit you but can't say I like the geometric pattern. I do not get boxes as they contain niff, naff in other words items I would not buy or ever use. Having sensitive skin I can not use perfumed toiletries.
That's such a shame Anne - a hypo allergenic box would be a good idea though 🤔 perhaps someone needs to start a one up! I'm sure there would be lots of customers! 🥰xx
Hmm, maybe a full, floaty skirt with plain white top? Hope you catch up on some sleep.
Aw thank you Lauren - yes I did have a better night's sleep so I look slightly less dishevelled today!🤣xx
think another zadie on the way.
Oh Margaret don't encourage me! I'm trying to resist making yet another Zadie - probably need therapy or something!🤣🤣🥰xx
That’s the only trouble with subscription boxes you have to have what the owner of the company thinks is suitable.
I subscribe to Sew Hayley Jane boxes the Classic, I have to admit that most of the fabrics are ok some make me very happy but as I am a mature lady of 74 quite a few are not the sort of things I would wear.
I have one with cherries all over it then one with fruit and a couple I don’t remember which.
I have to admit that they are still in my stash all my mind keeps thinking is pj’s but I have enough of them.
I haven’t got the courage to make a dress or trousers I don’t want to look like mutton dressed like lamb..
I think if you make something plain (with no frills or flounces) in a patterned fabric - let the fabric do the talking you can't go wrong and you are never too old to wear anything remember that! I bet there would be a lot of nice comments if you made something in one of the fruit fabrics you mention - as long as you feel bonny and bright in it, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. You go girl! 🥰xx
I’m thinking pjs, I got the pink, really not my colour.
It's more the pattern for me the longer I look at it. I'm now thinking a Zadie would look a bit like Children's TV presenter? 😂🥰xx
how about a Kaftan
It's looking like 70/30 towards a kaftan to be honest but I know what I'm like I will wake up tomorrow and change my mind again! Thank you for suggesting tho'. 🥰xx
make a Zadie...100%
Karen - I need no encouragement please stop 🤣 I would literally wear a Zadie every day! 🥰xx
@@karensewsslowly Ive made two for a friend but none for me yet lol x
