its a good thing then you can slide off the origami and open the package as if it was a letter instead of tearing into it and there for preserve it afterwards if your carefull with the creases of the packaging you can simply remove the content of the box and reseal it with the sleeve over the gleud portion
Believe it or not, the flower is easier than the box. the paper needs to be sized and positioned fairly accurately or else it ends up being a mess........i just found this out. Also, the box dimensions play a role. I did a thin rectangular box.......it was a mess at the end.

I tried following your videos for the first time yesterday. This is not a complain, its just information for viewers who feel like trying : Firm, good quality paper is not optional. I wanted to use regular wrapping paper for practice and it was a nightmare. It doesn't unfold well, it rolls up, making a fold agaisnt the roll is not easy, it makes a lot of unwated creases and damages the paper, folds arent as visible and shapes dont hold well, cutting straight even with scissors is difficult and the list goes on. Also, the box I used was really thin and it made every measuring step more complicated. I thought any boxes could do the trick but some boxes requires more practice and technique. Wide boxes are easier to work with. Now I need to go find some good paper and another box that will be too big for nothing and try again.
Camille Pepin - I think that the paper she is using is a Japanese paper. I have seen it in specialty stationery stores. It can also be found in some Asian stores. There is also a Japanese “dollar store” called a “Daiso” store. It will have the type of paper you are looking for. There are not many Daiso stores in North America. There *is* one in the greater Vancouver area in British Columbia, Canada (actually in the municipality of Richmond). I’ve been there and it is truly amazing. Puts our dollar stores to shame. Hope this helps you find some suitable paper. Also, I have found that the best brands (read “most expensive”), like Hallmark, are much heavier and stand up to a fair bit of folding. Oh, and I just remembered - I used to work in an art gallery and we had to gift wrap very large works of art - especially at Christmas - and we used veeeeery large rolls of wrapping paper. You could try to find a wholesaler of wrapping paper and invest in 2 or 3 rolls of multi+use colours. There may even be the option of choosing a heavier weight of a particular paper. I know that the paper we used at the gallery was quite strong and stood up to the very sharp corners on the frames that we were wrapping. And it was just the regular grade of paper, I believe. Best of luck in your quest ♥️ And have a very merry CHRISTmas!!! 👵🏻🐾💕🇨🇦
Wrapping paper is all around terrible paper. Kraft paper would work well for this. Either the ribbed kind common in Europe or the brown package kimd in America. For the flower in particular you would be fine with larger printer paper or magazine paper.
yes since it is meant to be thrown away after using it once, regular wrapping paper is not the best quality. Also they are not meant to be folded so many times. I wasn't going to try this anyway (looks too complicated) but thanks for the tip.
I absolutely love this and can't wait to try wrapping some gifts using this. I kinda feel I'd be more excited seeing my sister [especially hers because she is very crafty herself] expression in regards to the wrapping more than the gift lol. Thanks this is wonderful!
Two more years, and you’ll likely be able to build a grand piano! Wow! Amazing hand work! So elegant a presentation. Thank you for showing this. “It’s a wrap!” as they say…💐
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I made it with normal American wrapping paper (quite a bit thinner than the stuff you used) and it turned out amazing! I had a little trouble with the flower but I figured it out :)
I was thinking the same thing! Must need a degree in engineering to complete THAT complicated piece of gift wrapping! A 16 minute tutorial would literally take me 16 hours to make a mess. How about I just drop of the gift at the gift wrapping department while I have lunch! 😆😆😆
I don't know why it was recommended to me now, but I watched it all and I enjoyed it. Watch me wrap insanely cheap gifts this elaborately and see the look on people's faces when they receive it, rather compared to when they unwrapped it.. xD The act of giving and receiving is more important than the present itself!
Wonderful and very inspiring. I tried to follow it and got stuck at 7:38. It took ages to figure that out and then finally got past that only to get stuck at 9:01. I will persevere but I now appreciate EVEN MORE just how amazingly talented you are QiDaoYu.
Amazing designs! Even just the box wrapping design is super elegant and easy to remember. For other readers - it makes the most sense with a long box; it doesn’t do much for a square box. I found that this video structure doesn’t make it easy to learn these designs, though. The ideas are more straightforward than they look. But, I appreciate everything you did without voiceover.
Hello from Michigan, USA!!! Im trying to create this beautiful flower, it’s challenging because of the paper but I won’t give up!!! Thanks for the tutorial!!! Done, I finished this beautiful piece!!
Omg. I've actually been making those origami flowers since I was in middle school while in class to pass time. Didn't think I'd find some sort of use for it after 10+ years haha. Thanks for the idea. Will definitely make use of it next time I wrap up presents.
My brain is still processing the flower part. My brain is confused. So many shapes, twists and turns. My brain is now shutting down xDDDD This is pure talent and art. Thank you so much for sharing. I'll give it a try... More like 50 tries.
wow you are amazing. words are limited to praise your patience. unbelievable. excellent work. I was soooo much satisfied while watching , how can a piece of paper can be converted into a unique design when it owned by a creative hand😉. wow you are exactly an incredible person. thank you🥰
Great tutorial! I used to work in a shop where we'd also wrap gifts during holidays, I learnt some techniques there but this is so simple and beautiful. Loved the tip with burning the glue stick, why didn't I ever do that before? Glue guns are messy
PLOT TWIST: This is really a cruel prank to play on someone. Imagine receiving this gift and working up the courage to rip into the box only to find a lame gift inside. In your mind you would have wished you had never opened the wrapping in the first place because that was more artistically valuable vs something like a USB cable.
yepp.. imagine when the person giving you the gift say "but the gift is not what's inside the wrapping, the wrapping itself is the gift, and now you ruin it.." 😅

To have someone tear it apart to get to the gift, will have to pass. Great idea and work. But the base is really pretty already. I'll just do that with a nice bow. Thanx for the idea
Thank you very much for the vid and instruction. This is a little complicated origami flower, just gave me a problem at the second to the final step. You will get the actual present.. 😂
CORRECT
Yeah think I’ll skip the flower but the base packaging is really nice
Exactly, I was thinking the same while watching it. The base packaging is beautiful. It does not need ornaments.
Believe it or not, the flower is easier than the box. the paper needs to be sized and positioned fairly accurately or else it ends up being a mess........i just found this out. Also, the box dimensions play a role. I did a thin rectangular box.......it was a mess at the end.
